    GlassWire 2.1.166

GlassWire 2.1.166 by Razvan Serea Visualize your current and past network activity by traffic type, application, and geographic location, on an easy to use graph. GlassWire lets you see what applications are sending out data over the Internet and shows you what hosts they are communicating with. The program also looks for; domains or IP addresses that are known threats, networking system file changes, unusual application changes, ARP spoofing and more. GlassWire shows you what network activity occurred while you were away or logged out from your computer. No more wondering what your computer was doing while you were out. Just go back in time with GlassWire's graph and see exactly what happened in detail. GlassWire visualizes what current and past applications are accessing the Internet. If you don’t like what you see you can instantly block network access to specific apps with GlassWire’s firewall manager. GlassWire 2.1.166 changelog: Turn nslookup off in your GlassWire settings if you don’t want to see the domain names of the hosts you are connecting to. Changes were made on how the Windows “System” and Windows Defender are handled with the firewall. Graph screen optimizations to use even less resources when using GlassWire. New help screens to help with technical issues. Other bug fixes and enhancements. 4. Windows Admin Center Preview 1909 is now available - here's what's new by João Carrasqueira Microsoft has consistently been releasing new preview versions of Windows Admin Center for the past couple of months, and September is no different. Windows Admin Center Preview 1909 is now available, and it'll be the last preview release before the next generally available version of Windows Admin Center, which is coming in the next couple of months. Version 1909 brings a significantly shorter changelog than last month's release, but it still includes a couple of improvements, specifically for Packetmon. Here's what's new: Specific connection type for Azure VMs In new Add connection experience, Azure VMs are now a top-level connection type. This functionality previously lived under the “Azure” tab when adding a server. When a server is added this way, it appears in the connections list as “Server (Azure VM)” so you can easily see which of your servers are Azure VMs. Unified connection type for clusters The two separate connection types for hyper-converged clusters and failover clusters have been merged into a single, unified connection type. Clusters can be added as a “Windows Server cluster” and the appropriate tools will be loaded and available, primarily based on whether Storage Spaces Direct is enabled or not. Hyper-converged cluster connections and failover cluster connections added from previous versions of Windows Admin Center will be automatically migrated to the new cluster connection type. For extension developers: Extensions that enable tools for failover cluster connections and/or hyper-converged cluster connections will require a minor code change to display the tools properly in the new cluster connection. Details on this will be provided soon. Packetmon There are several improvements in Packetmon: New capture dialog wizard – users need to follow several steps to set the capture conditions: select specific components, set filters, choose dropped or all packets Capture conditions button – opens a dialog which shows the conditions used to create the capture Restart button – reuse same conditions to restart capture Display filters dialog – further filter captured results Save button – save the captured log in different formats Packet details page now shows actual names of networking stack components Windows Admin Center has also received a number of new extensions from partners, which Microsoft has highlighted in this release: IIS extension We are excited to announce the first preview release of the IIS Extension for Windows Admin Center that provides the existing tools in IIS manager to administer and manage your web server. You can download and install the “msft.iis.iis-management” extension from the extension feed and If you are connecting to a machine to manage IIS for the first time, you will be prompted to install the IIS Administration API on the machine you wish to manage. Lenovo XClarity Integrator extension is generally available The Lenovo XClarity Integrator extension is now generally available with the v1.2.11 release. In addition to the existing capabilities to manage standalone servers and hyper-converged clusters, the following features have been added in this release: In-band management for hardware inventory, events and alerts – Servers can be managed via PowerShell running in Windows Server. This allows server hardware management without the Lenovo XClarity Administrator. Support for Lenovo XClarity Administrator version 2.5.0 for out-of-band management. BiitOps Changes extension for server configuration change tracking The BiitOps Changes extension is now officially available for customers. BiitOps Changes makes identifying and troubleshooting server incidents through Windows Admin Center an even quicker and simpler process through a powerful graphical change overview. Key features include: Summarizes changes made to servers and/or services leading up to an incident Shows changes – and changes only – in a simple, yet powerful graphical interface Allows admins to quickly zoom in on specific changes for full details Simple one-time installation, configuration and deployment for 24/7/365 monitoring Highly secure with no data ever being passed from your local installation Offered as a free trial for up to 10 servers Learn more about BiitOps Changes here. Though we're getting closer to a public release, there are still some known issues with this version of Windows Admin Center, such as the Dell EMC extension not working. Here's the full list: Dell EMC extension – The Dell EMC OpenManage Integration extension is not compatible with Windows Admin Center v1909 due to a breaking change in this version and will fail to install. Dell EMC will be releasing a new version soon. In the meantime, you can continue to use the Dell EMC extension on Windows Admin Center v1904.1 or v1908. Cluster connections – When adding a cluster connection, there is reference to creating a new cluster, however this functionality is not yet available. [23380016] Azure Monitor onboarding – If you’re managing a server or a cluster using “manage as” credentials, the onboarding may fail. Network – If you have configured an Azure Network Adapter, the value under Microsoft Azure Virtual Network Gateway Address will be formatted as a hyperlink but leads to an invalid address. [20420185] Chrome users may see 403 Forbidden response from WAC after upgrading. The workaround is to close *all* open chrome tabs (make sure there are no chrome.exe processes running). After restarting chrome, everything will function normally. We have an error message that makes this clear, but chrome users with multiple windows admin center tabs open during upgrade will not see the message. The latest generally available release of Windows Admin Center is version 1904, so the next update should be version 1910. Since this is the last preview release Insiders will get to test, it should mean Microsoft will be focusing on ironing out any issues ahead of the general release. If you're interested, you can get the latest preview version of Windows Admin Center from the Windows Server Insider Program page.

    Cannot play audio CDs!

I'd also highly recommend upgrading to windows 10 if you're able; that will also solve any corruption issues. The free upgrades are still supported, you'll install without a key and choose Activate after the install and it should pull/use the Windows 7 retail/oem key already on the device https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Use a different audio player like already suggested. I have had issues with WMP over the years and now, it is just out dated and antiquated.

    Cannot play audio CDs!

As Brandon mentioned, Flash Player isn't an audio app. It's for playing content based on apps built using Flash such as online apps like games or videos. Once installed, the only access you'll get to it, is thru the Control Panel applet that let's you adjust some settings. Not sure why your WMP isn't working, but my guess is that you've installed something previously that is conflicting with it. CD/DVD burning software is notorious for causing conflicts with optical drives and filters. Also, any time in the past when I've run into issues with an optical drive not playing discs or even recognizing them, I always fell back on removing the Upper and Lower filters in the registry. It's possible to verify this in Device Manager if there's an error code associated with the drive (yellow triangle). Follow these steps to back up the registry key (which is a simple right click the key, choose Export, and save it to your desktop).. and then remove the Upper/Lower filters. Restart PC when done. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929461/the-cd-drive-or-the-dvd-drive-does-not-work-as-expected-on-a-computer

  11. Microsoft partners with Schlumberger and Chevron to build Azure-native apps in DELFI by Hamza Jawad Last week, Microsoft announced a five-year, cloud-centric partnership with The Walt Disney Studios to create content work flows on Azure. The tech giant has continued its collaborations in the cloud environment by now announcing a team-up with Schlumberger and Chevron at the SIS Global Forum 2019. This will be garnered toward the building and deployment of Azure-native applications in the DELFI cognitive E&P environment. DELFI is an open cloud-based environment that was introduced by Schlumberger a couple of years back. Utilizing its collaborative capabilities, Chevron and Schlumberger will be aiming to bring more DELFI solutions in Azure, with assistance from Microsoft. Moreover, all firms involved will ensure the meeting of the latest security and performance standards, making software developments compatible with the Open Subsurface Data Universe (OSDU) Data Platform. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella commented on this endeavour in the following manner: "There is an enormous opportunity to bring the latest cloud and AI technology to the energy sector and accelerate the industry’s digital transformation. Our partnership with Schlumberger and Chevron delivers on this promise, applying the power of Azure to unlock new AI-driven insights that will help address some of the industry’s—the world's—most important energy challenges, including sustainability." Meanwhile, Olivier Le Peuch, CEO of Schlumberger highlighted the extent of this partnership, noting that, "Never before has our industry seen a collaboration of this kind, and of this scale". Joseph C. Geagea, EVP of Technology, Projects, and Services at Chevron, pointed towards the exploration opportunities it would help provide, stating, "It will pull vast quantities of information into a single source amplifying our use of artificial intelligence and high-performance computing built on an open data ecosystem." The project will consist of three phases: the deployment of the Petrotechnical Suite in the DELFI environment, the building of cloud-native applications on Azure, and the offering of a suite of cognitive computing native capabilities across the E&P value chain, catering to Chevron's objectives. Development on the open DELFI foundation is hoped to enhance the work of the aforementioned firm's petrotechnical experts.

    Cannot play audio CDs!

Hello To start Flash Player is not a media player; it's an extension for web content in browsers. As for WMP though I'd recommend running an 'sfc /scannow' in an admin command prompt as it sounds like there may be some corruption causing it not to run. Alternatively you could install a different media player like VLC, Foobar2000, WinAmp, or similar.
  13. I think it's great, keep getting free games cause they're all trying to compete with each other. took me as long as to write this to install it... what's all the fuss about Back in the olden days I could just click a game and it would launch the game. Then they came out with steam and I had to wait 30 minutes for it to update before I could play the game. Now you whippersnappers seems to have forgotten the near past and won't play a game if it doesn't have trading cards. i like setup.exe and the old dos game configs. https://youtu.be/nOaiVeK5AhI

    Cannot play audio CDs!

Running Windows 7 OS. I cannot play any audio CD (.cda files) with Windows Media Player. I cannot open Windows Media Player and do not know if it is functioning. I downloaded Adobe Flash Player for possible use, but somehow cannot find it in my computer! Going to the DVD RW drive (D:) Audio CD, I get a list of all tracks on the CD. All show only a 1KB file size. Double clicking on a track, or right clicking and clicking on the "play" option or the "open" option all get me a very briefly visible unreadable window. Going to "properties" shows all .cda files on the disk to be 44 bytes, size on the disk 2K. Nothing can be played. I am looking to take the individual tracks for processing with Oceanaudio software and burning to CD in the desired sequence.

  18. Google Search makes it easier to find content within videos by João Carrasqueira Google has announced a new capability for its search engine, which will help users find the information within videos on the internet a little faster. When users look up a video, especially long ones such as how-to guides or documentaries, Search will offer links to key moments within the video, rather than forcing users to watch all of it if they don't need to. This will rely on help from content creators, which will need to add timestamps to their videos in order for them to show up in search results. The timestamps will show up alongside the title, given by the video creator, for that particular section, making it easier to get to specific parts of a guide, for instance. The feature won't actually be able to search for things written or spoken in the video itself. Currently, the feature will only be rolling out to those using Google Search in English, and it will only work for YouTube videos that have added the timestamps in the video description. Google says it's working to help creators across the web mark up their content so it can make use of the capability, so you'll be able to find content from channels such as CBS Sports and NDTV, as they add support for the feature. Regarding a rollout in other languages and regions, Google didn't provide any timeframe for when we can expect it to happen.
  19. Pretty darn sweet. Apple and Google really need to push the eSIM revolution, otherwise providers will just destroy it in its infancy.
  20. All the big game devs are doing this now so they can cut out the middle man (mostly valve on PC) and get to keep all of the money. You'll see more and more of these as time goes on. You can either install them or just keep getting the games the way you have been, unless they start to force you to install their stuff to get their games, then it's a different story.

  22. Starting with Firefox 74, new releases will arrive every 4 weeks by Paul Hill Mozilla has announced that it will begin shipping Firefox releases every four weeks in the new year. To prepare for the new release schedule, the firm is slowly closing in the gap over the next few releases, bringing the cycle down from seven weeks to six weeks, then five weeks, and finally to four weeks. The process will be fully shifted a four-week cycle with the release of Firefox 74 which is due on March 10, 2020. According to the firm, the Extended Support Release (ESR) schedule will not change, and it expects to release a new major ESR release every 12 months with a 3-month support overlap allowing for upgrades across businesses. The next major ESR releases are slated for June 2020 and June 2021. Discussing the new release cycle, Ritu Kothari and Yan Or from Mozilla, said: “Shorter release cycles provide greater flexibility to support product planning and priority changes due to business or market requirements. With four-week cycles, we can be more agile and ship features faster, while applying the same rigor and due diligence needed for a high-quality and stable release. Also, we put new features and implementation of new Web APIs into the hands of developers more quickly.” With some new features, Mozilla says it will continue to do A/B testing. This will allow the company to test products among a wider audience before finally issuing them to all users. These experiments are not currently tied to release cycles nor will they be when Mozilla’s new schedule comes into force next year. With the change, users will get new features two weeks sooner than they would have normally. It’s unlikely that stability will suffer in any way thanks to A/B testing and the phased release strategy where each new release is tested by those running Firefox Nightly, Beta, and Developer Edition. The change will mean that other projects that depend on Firefox such as Tor Browser and Tails OS, will have to slightly alter their schedules too.
  23. Windows 10 SDK Preview build 18980 is now available by Rich Woods Microsoft released Windows 10 SDK Insider Preview build 18980 today. As usual, there's no blog post just yet, so there's no way to actually know what's new. It's typical though, for a new SDK Preview to arrive on the Tuesday after a new Windows 10 client Insider Preview is offered up to the Fast ring. A blog post will likely arrive later on today formally announcing the new SDK, although the company has waited days to announce builds in the past. There's not going to be a whole lot that's new since last week's SDK. It's still from the 20H1 development branch, so it's a preview of the SDK that will be offered alongside of the feature update that's coming next spring. In other words, Microsoft is just iterating on the SDK every week until then, adding in APIs that coincide with new features as they get put in the OS. Alongside of the new SDK, there are a few other new builds. There's a new Desktop App Converter Base Image, a new Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK), a new Windows Driver Kit (WDK), and a new Windows Hardware Lab Kit (HLK). If you just want the new SDK though, you can find it here.
