new ryzen build - motherboard choices?

Think the only difference between the Taichi and Taichi Ultimate is the 10GbE controller (and onboard per/reset button). So, I would say the regular Taichi (unless you need the 10GbE controller) Regarding it vs the Crosshair vii ... I'll have to differ.

new ryzen build - motherboard choices?

Thanks. Taichi or Taichi Ultimate x470? Don't think I need/want 10G lan. I get what you mean.....maybe in a year or so we'll have new sockets altogether. And yes, I'll be paying $100 for pcie 4 which I won't use. If I'll go with x470, what would make the taichi better than crosshair vii?
  5. ^ Idiotic post of the day award. Not really, either they are a threat to national security or not. If they are then he's right, if they aren't or weren't then what was the point of all of this. Considering the allegations they were throwing against Huawei, nothing they have done so far, as least publicly, has been a fundamental change. Trump is a threat, maybe he should be banned from twitter. And cut their traffic in half? Not gonna happen. At this point, I'd be skeptical if Trump has stock in Twitter. LOL, i do not use twitter, i did years ago, but I found it useless. I can not stand seeing Tumps face and hearing his voice, so I certainly not want to read the crap he writes on Twitter. I feel sorry for people in the U.S who have to cope with him more than we do in the UK. You leave the EU yet? No, because our government is useless and now we will have to cope with Boris, Trumps brother i think Still, maybe BJ will have more guts and get it done as quickly as possible don't worry, your prophet sadiq khan will save you n huawei

  7. "The Model 3 also got a major boost this month after the Euro NCAP awarded the vehicle five stars across the board in its tests, showing it to be a very safe vehicle." Funny that since tesla claimed they were the safest car before which got them a boost of popularity and turns out they were lying, which is basically all telsa does, https://www.nhtsa.gov/press-re...ues-statement-about-new-car In fact let's have a look at a list compiled by the lovely people on reddit https://docs.google.com/spread...IazTs/htmlview#gid=26425775 Safe car my arse.

@jnelsoninjax I asked and we think it is because the gif has too many frames, which IPB can't process quick enough. If I have time I will run it through an online optimizer, or you can to test

  10. So with a slow manual process the customer always get a faulty product but with microsofts automated solution it's always perfect? What a crock of utter horse ######. Really scraping the bottom of the barrel to try and convince people to use this stuff...

  14. Where should I start ? Design faults, hardware problems: coil whine not fixed after several XPS generations, touch pad issues, keyboard issues, sound issues, power management craziness. Poor support for the GPU, very old drivers, blaming it on Intel. BIOS releases that break things or fail to fix problems acknowledged over a year ago. So all in all, useless as a mobile gaming system due to overheating and throttling, useless as a tablet due to the touch pad that randomly blocks the pen input. Ok, maybe I was an early adopter, my fault, my risk, right ? But then I go check the Dell forums, and Reddit, and there are others reporting the same, but for the "standard" XPS laptop, models 95x0, 93x0. Official Twitter account makes false claims about fixes "coming soon", laptop review websites write followup articles about the problems. And the new generation comes out with the same. Now, if we move to the customer service topic: support cases closed in 24h on Sunday because of lack of replies from the customer (weekend!), support agents that have major difficulties either understanding English or getting past the "reboot/reinstall driver/try these 10 steps" troubleshooting script (and we're talking Premium support here, or whatever it's called), or happier to (partially) refund rather than solve the problem or escalate to an engineer. Now let's get into the repairs: 3 visits to replace a keyboard/touch pad ! It's all on their official forums, please read before buying anything from Dell. Dell only cares about selling new systems, they won't bother to support you once they have your money. Honestly, Dell's XPS line can't really even be called gaming equipment anymore, especially not their laptops. They are just not built with cooling in mind, which sounds like was one of your big concerns. For years, my company bought Dell everything, desktops, laptops, servers. Not everyone was perfect, but overall they worked well and were well built for business purposes. Their Alienware line for gaming isn't bad, but isn't a great value either. For gaming, I suggest looking elsewhere. XPS isn't a business line, that's what Latitude is for. XPS has always been about design and performance. I've bought this laptop as an all-rounder. I understand that one can't ask for a light, densely packed solution, to act as a workhorse. I'd just like to be able to fire up a mid-requirements game, nothing fancy, for 30-45 minutes at a time. Or an app that requires GPU support. Or use it in a meeting without the fans going berserk. Failing to do that, just proves Dell wants the sale, will push all the marketing buttons to achieve it, and does not care about the customer experience. What's the point to add a extra GPU if it can't be used because the system crashes ? or an i7 CPU that is throttled due to the old chassis design, instead of only selling it with an i5 ? I've pointed that these are general issues with their new models in the last few years, not an isolated incident with a unit - in the hope that potential customers will be wary, test and decide to return their laptops, versus trusting Dell to solve the problems with firmware or software updates. Trying to minimise the problem by saying that Dell provides good business laptop for your company doesn't help other readers. Folks sink anywhere between 1500-2000£ on a Dell XPS for personal use, based of false marketing and support claims, and are not able use them beyond the level provided by an alternative like an Acer at 1/4 of the cost.
  15. Junk price really. Can get the same console with drive for $15 like already stated. Put the price at $150-$175, then that would be good.
  16. Ubuntu 18.10 Cosmic Cuttlefish reaches end of life on Thursday, upgrade now by Paul Hill Canonical, earlier this month, announced that Ubuntu 18.10 Cosmic Cuttlefish will be reaching end-of-life status this Thursday, making now the ideal time to upgrade to a later version. As with all non-Long Term Support (LTS) releases, 18.10 had nine months of support following its release last October. When distributions reach their end-of-life stage, they no longer receive security updates. While you may be relatively safe at first, the longer you keep running an unpatched system, the more likely it is that your system will become compromised putting your data at risk. If you’d like to move on from Ubuntu 18.10, you’ve got two options; you can either perform a clean install of a more up-to-date version of Ubuntu or you can do an in-place upgrade. Upgrading Ubuntu is relatively easy, you can find detailed instructions in the Ubuntu help pages, but generally you just need to install any available updates and then press the upgrade button that should be visible in the software updater tool. Normally, in-place upgrades should work fine, but it’s still recommended that you back-up all of your information to an external drive first. The most recent version of Ubuntu is Ubuntu 19.04 Disco Dingo, which includes a new version of the GNOME desktop and a newer kernel. The next update due is Ubuntu 19.10 Eoan Ermine in mid-October, and it will be the first release to drop support for 32-bit computers.
  17. Eh there's really only 2 other pairs of headphones these are intended to target against and compete with. I got the Sony ones for free and I am loving it. Otherwise I dont see the point in paying so much money for headphones. So Sony, Bose, Seinheiser then theres Logitech, Jabra, Platronics then you move into the less known brands for a lot less.

Amazon is selling a year of Office 365 Home for $69.99, ends soon

Paying for software subscriptions is so 2013. You will get much better value with a perpetual free suite like LibreOffice or even if you buy only those individual MS office programs that you need - Word only in my case and PowerPoint 2010 Viewer which is free. They had a nice Android app to control PowerPoint 2013/2016 on Windows from a phone called Office Remote but like all good things, they killed it.

  20. Microsoft introduces digital distribution centers in collaboration with Lenovo and Nvidia by Hamza Jawad Microsoft believes that manual tasks such as picking and packing account for the majority of labor costs in warehousing operations. In order to help cut down on these costs and optimize the flow of products, the tech giant has now announced a preview of Lenovo's Digital Distribution Center (DDC) solution, in collaboration with Nvidia. This move is Microsoft's latest step in its previously announced partnership with both the aforementioned companies to help bring advanced artificial intelligence (AI) to Azure IoT Edge. DDC is an IoT solution that helps utilize distribution centers to their full extent, enabling the optimization of retail, manufacturing, and logistical operations through real-time scalable package detection, validation, and more. AI and ML inferencing is used in multi-video stream analytics, improving the solution over time through self-learning. Since DDCs are built using the Azure IoT Central platform, they are also said to be simple to set up, allowing solution adopters to focus less on the operations and management surrounding a global IoT solution. Lenovo and Nvidia have been noted as the key components behind the addition of "unique value" to industry-relevant solutions like this. Microsoft is previewing the solution at its Inspire 2019 conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. The tech giant announced a number of new products and investments ahead of the event, including upcoming features for Teams, a new migration program for Azure, and more. It also reversed its decision to take internal usage rights away from partners, given the negative feedback against the move. DDC releases in the future will be adding features like geofencing alerts, palletization, depalletization, and last-mile sorting. You can observe a demo of the solution in its current form at the Microsoft partner booth during its ongoing Inspire 2019 conference, set to end on July 18. If you're interested in joining the preview program, you can contact Lenovo at IoTSolutions@lenovo.com.
  21. Tesla drops Standard Range Model X and Model S variants by Paul Hill The electric car firm, Tesla, has decided to drop the Standard Range variants of its Model X and Model S vehicles, leaving only the Long Range and Performance options available, albeit at slightly adjusted prices. With the change, Tesla is positioning the Model 3 as its go-to entry-level vehicle with its $38,990 price tag. With the abolition of the Standard Range vehicles, the starting price for the Model X has gone up to $84,990, while the Model S will set you back $79,990 for the entry-level customisations - the Model 3 is less than half the cost of both of these vehicles, making it more attractive to potential customers. In a statement, Tesla said: “To make purchasing our vehicles even simpler, we are standardizing our global vehicle lineup and streamlining the number of trim packages offered for Model S, Model X and Model 3. We are also adjusting our pricing in order to continue to improve affordability for customers.” The announcement by Tesla comes after it reported a 51% rise in global deliveries in the second quarter contrasted against the first quarter. During the second quarter, the total deliveries reached a record figure of 92,500, with the Model 3 accounting for about 80% of the total. The Model 3 also got a major boost this month after the Euro NCAP awarded the vehicle five stars across the board in its tests, showing it to be a very safe vehicle. Source: Reuters
  22. I am essentially doing that. Sharing with 6 people and in the process getting 1tb of OneDrive storage each. It adds up to less than 15 bucks here per year which is quite a reasonable price to me.

    Ocenaudio 3.7.1

Ocenaudio 3.7.1 by Razvan Serea Ocenaudio is a full featured, fast and easy to use audio and music editor. It is the ideal software for people who need to edit and analyze audio files without complications. Ocenaudio also has powerful features that will please more advanced users. To assist ocenaudio development, a powerful toolset of audio editing, analysis and manipulation called Ocen Framework was created. ocenaudio is also based on Qt framework, a well known library for cross-platform development. Cross-platform support ocenaudio is available for all major operating systems: Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Native applications are generated for each platform from a common source, in order to achieve excelent performance and seamless integration with the operating system. All versions of ocenaudio have a uniform set of features and the same graphical interface, so the skills you learn in one platform can be used in the others. VST plugins support Ocenaudio supports VST (Virtual Studio Technology) plugins, giving its users access to numerous effects. Like the native effects, VST effects can use real-time preview to aide configuration. Real-time preview of effects Applying effects such as EQ, gain and filtering is an important part of audio editing. However, it is very tricky to get the desired result by adjusting the controls configuration alone: you must listen the processed audio. To ease the configuration of audio effects, ocenaudio has a real time preview feature: you hear the processed signal while adjusting the controls. The effect configuration window also includes a miniature view of the selected audio signal. You can navigate on this miniature view in the same way as you do on the main interface, selecting parts that interest you and listening to the effect result in real time. Multiselection for delicate editions To speed up complex audio files editing, ocenaudio includes multi-selection. With this amazing tool, you can simultaneously select different portions of an audio file and listen, edit or even apply an effect to them. For example, if you want to normalize only the excerpts of an interview where the interviewee is talking, just select them and apply the effect. Eficient edition of large files With ocenaudio, there is no limit to the length or the quantity of the audio files you can edit. Using an advanced memory management system, the application keeps your files open without wasting any of your computer's memory. Even in files several hours long, common editing operations such as copy, cut or paste happen almost instantly. Fully featured spectrogram Besides offering an incredible waveform view of your audio files, ocenaudio has a powerful and complete spectrogram view. In this view, you can analyze the spectral content of your audio signal with maximum clarity. Advanced users will be surprised to find that the spectrogram settings are applied in real time. The display is updated immediately when altering features such as the number of frequency bands, window type and size and dynamic range of the display. 25. They still don't have all the Control Panel stuff in Settings. On plus side, there are new icons in 1903. This is about outlook web. How does that relates to Windows 10 control panel? It wont even remotely be the same teams developing it. Just an example of things they do halfway and never get fixed. I know they're different teams, but they do this with most of their products. in 2019 it's called agile, or lean development, and is very much not just a Microsoft thing. I think it's fair to say Microsoft are much better at looping back and fixing genuine issues than they used to be* - which begs the question, is having a control panel AND settings actually a problem? :-) * although their security QA is notably worse in the past couple of years.
  26. it's a bit of a chicken an egg thing. ATMs have never dispensed £50, so they're not in regular circulation, and therefore people inherently don't trust them. It's not just small shops, I've been refused at national chains, annoyingly at a large shell service station, after I'd filled up. It was the only payment method I had on me at the time, so they had to take it eventually. Hopefully with the refresh we start to see them more in circulation, dispensed from ATMs, and because of the new polymer notes they'll be much harder to forge.
