Get the Lenovo Legion Go portable gaming PC for a new low price of $629.99
John Callaham posted a topic in Front Page News
Get the Lenovo Legion Go portable gaming PC for a new low price of $629.99 by John Callaham In late 2023, Lenovo joined the list of PC makers who wanted to offer an alternative to Valve's Steam Deck portable PC. The result was the Lenovo Legion Go, and it had a few unique features that made it stand out from the Steam Deck and other rival products. While the price of this portable gaming PC was $699.99 when it launched, the Lenovo Legion Go is available now for the discounted low price of $629.99 at Amazon. That's $70 below its MSRP. The first thing you might notice on the Lenovo Legion Go is that it has an 8.8-inch QHD+ touchscreen display which is much bigger than what you find on the Steam Deck or other similar portable gaming PCs. It has a resolution of 1600p and can go up to a 144Hz refresh rate. Inside, the Legion Go comes with Windows 11, and AMD's Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor. This version also has 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD for onboard storage. It includes a microSD card to quickly add even more storage, or you can upgrade the SSD yourself with one that has more space. The other major feature of the Legion Go is its detectable side controllers, similar to what the Nintendo Switch has. You can play on the PC with those controllers, one in each hand while the Legion Go itself sits on a table with its own built-in kickstand. One controller can be used as a mouse when detached as well. Some of the other features on this PC include two USB Type-C ports, along with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 wireless hardware. The Legion Space UI lets the PC access digital gaming stores and services. Lenovo also throws in a free three-month subscription to Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass Ultimate service with the purchase of the Legion Go. Lenovo Legion Go portable gaming PC for $629.99 ($70 off MSRP) This Amazon deal is U.S. specific, and not available in other regions unless specified. Make sure you also browse through Amazon US, Amazon UK, and Newegg US to find some other great tech deals. Microsoft has revealed the end of support and availability dates for the classic Teams app
John Callaham posted a topic in Front Page News
Microsoft has revealed the end of support and availability dates for the classic Teams app by John Callaham Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that it would give people who were still using the classic Teams desktop app some more time to make the transition to the more recent "Teams 2.0" version, until at least July 1, 2024. This week, the company offered some more concrete info on when support for classic Teams will end and also when it will become completely unavailable to use. In a support page on Microsoft's site, the company confirmed that it has started sending notifications to classic Teams users, warning them that the app will reach its official end-of-support date of July 1, 2024. After that date, Microsoft will no longer release any updates, patches, or new features for classic Teams users. While the classic Teams app won't get any more updates after July 1, it will still be useable for people and businesses who have yet to make the move to the new Teams desktop app, After July 1, classic Teams users will see another warning notification, informing them that it is no longer supported. Those notification warnings can be dismissed but they will continue to show up occasionally for people still using the older app. However, the real day of reckoning is when the classic Teams app will no longer work at all. Microsoft has announced that anyone using classic Teams on older and unsupported operating systems (Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and MacOS Sierra 10.12) will begin to see warnings in August that the app will no longer work after October 23, 2024. After that date, those users who try to use the app will see another notification saying their use of the app has now been blocked. Those users can continue to access Teams on supported web browsers. For all other users, the shutdown of the classic Teams app will take a bit longer, but it will happen. The blocking of the use of classic Teams all supported Windows and MacOS operating systems will happen on July 1, 2025. -

Proton Mail for Business adds some new features including an employee availability tool
John Callaham posted a topic in Front Page News
Proton Mail for Business adds some new features including an employee availability tool by John Callaham The security and encryption-based email service Proton is adding some new features once again. This time, the company is adding some new functions for its Proton Mail for Business plan subscribers. They include a new calendar feature along with a way for companies to make their email accounts stand out. In a blog post, Proton stated that starting today, business subscribers can now use its calendar app to label when their employees will be available to participate in meetings in a way that helps to save time when these meetings get scheduled. The accompanying press release stated: The average time to schedule a meeting with 6-8 participants is around 30 minutes, rising to up to two hours for meetings with more participants, according to a study from ETH Zurich. Proton’s answer to this allows companies to skip this effort and delay, by enabling instant scheduling of meetings that work for everyone. This means that users can effortlessly coordinate with colleagues, eliminate tedious back-and-forth, and free up precious time for meaningful work. In addition, Proton Mail for Business subscribers can now upload their company logo on its web version for a most customized experience for its employees. Proton also revealed it has recently added even more features for business customers. They include new event summary integration functions for Proton Calendar and Mail. Employees will be able to see invitations set up in the Proton Calendar directly in their Proton Mail inbox. Also, the iOS Proton Calendar app recently got updated so that its users can now more easily see their work availability during the week. Proton Mail for Business plans are currently priced at $12.99 per user per month. Earlier this week, Proton announced that its consumer plans now include support for monitoring any emails Proton Mail accounts that might have been leaked in data breaches and are available on the dark web.-

Maybe use the free PC now and actually save for a decent gaming rig, You said you could get a free 1030 that will get you on the low end of gaming if you can't afford a GTX 1660. An i5-8400 + GTX 1660 would tide you over until you have saved enough for a higher quality gaming PC.

Noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims Vision Pro unit shipments have been heavily cut
dirtyvu replied to John Callaham's topic in Front Page News
It really needs better Windows support though (I use a GPD Win 4). ARMoni helps, but Nebula for Windows sucks ass (especially compared to the Mac version). I like mine, but they aren't useful for anything beyond giving you a big screen. The Beam adds a ton of lag also when you are projecting a screen through it also. Different use case, but damn expensive for what you get from them really. Okay, I just tried the Beam with desktop PC (7900x with 4090) and my smartphones, and I didn't see any lag (HDMI to USB-C cable). I didn't need the Beam for my Surface Pro 9 and Asus ROG Ally because they can accept the glasses connected by USB-C. Haven't tried Nebula yet. Will look into ARMoni and others.- 9 replies

Goretsky is correct, the CPU will handle modern games fine as long as you pair it with a good GPU, think Nvidia 3060 or better and you may well need a good Power supply as well as pre-builds tend to have just enough power to run what's in the box and nothing more. As others have said in terms of value for money you'd be far better off with a console than a PC at this price range.

Probably mostly bots. Wonder how much time is spent on average. I would think the bulk is just people who signed up for it when it came out and now do a random check for a few mins a month. Also if monthly users Include none members. (Such as people say clicking on a link to threads who don’t have an account) -
Vivaldi gets big update with tab hibernation, feed auto-detection, and more
TarasBuria posted a topic in Front Page News
Vivaldi gets big update with tab hibernation, feed auto-detection, and more by Taras Buria Vivaldi Technologies released a big new update for its browser. Version 6.7 is now available for download with a few significant changes and new features, such as a built-in memory saver and tab hibernation, feed auto-detection, and more. Vivaldi now reduces memory usage by automatically hibernating inactive tabs, auto-detects more feeds with its Feed Reader on websites like Reddit and GitHub, allows creating Workspaces out of tab selections with a right-click, includes a window split-view for apps on Mac, and more. What is new in Vivaldi 6.7 Memory Saver Like other modern browsers, Vivaldi now has a built-in memory saver to help tab hoarders lower the memory strain. The browser lets you select the timeout, after which inactive tabs will be put to sleep or hibernated. In addition, you can manually hibernate a tab, tab stacks, or entire workspaces. Clicking an inactive tab will bring it back to life. It is also worth noting that Vivaldi will not hibernate tabs with audio or video playing or partially filled forms. Feed auto-detection The built-in Vivaldi Feed Reader now automatically detects feeds and displays an icon in the address bar. Clicking it lets you add Reddit profiles, GitHub repositories, YouTube videos, and other websites to your feed and receive notifications when there are updates. Other changes in Vivaldi 6.7 include the following: You can now create Workspaces with fewer clicks. Select a few tabs and right-click them to make a new Workspace. To make Vivaldi and your data in the browser more portable, Vivaldi lets you export passwords and feeds in addition to other information, such as bookmarks, speed dial, reading lists, notes, etc. On Mac, Vivaldi now supports SplitView, allowing you to tile several apps on one screen. You can learn more about Vivaldi 6.7 in a blog post on the official website. Vivaldi is available on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS.- 1 reply
