  2. I still don't know what RCS really does, all I know is I want videos sent from iPhone users to not look like they were recorded on a Motorola Razr from early 2000's.
  3. Cry me a river for Huawei. I don’t agree with this ban but when I look at Huawei I see government funded and supported with almost all of it’s IP stolen from other companies and provide affordable networking and communications equipment because of Chinese government currency manipulation and ridiculously cheap slave like labor with almost no right. No free press , no union and Voice. Someone like You would have most likely been sentenced to death many times over and over criticizing state or companies over there for things like pollution of the air for example Not having a free press, unions, cheap labor and the rest of this list has nothing to do with what they are being accused of.
  4. Today
  5. Wow, that's fantastic. Thank you Microsoft!
  6. They're not saying they own the lyrics or anything of the sort. They're saying Google takes the work they've done off of their site and uses it/posts it, on their own without asking or even showing a link back to the source. Genius has the rights but AFAIK it doesn't have the resell rights, so they can't claim copyrights because it is a derivative work. So, every copyright holder could sue Google but Genius can't sue it because it owns nothing. NO, just NO, not even close. I could design a clever stylized written variation of the US Constitution, altered wording work, or an artistic rendering of the Constitution - and copyright my work. Just because the Constitution is freely available, DOES NOT MEAN GOOGLE or anyone else can copy my variation or artistic version. (Ever notice why Maps, created using freely available data, have 'bunnies' and other tags to prevent people from stealing their Copyrighted work?) This concept also applies to people/entities that have the same license or access to the same content. With this case, it appears the issue is even bigger than this basic copyright concept. As Artists/Labels often do not release lyrics, or accurate lyrics to everyone, and will license the use of the real/accurate lyrics to a specific party. (Which may be the case here.) This is why you might have noticed that lyrics in the CD case cover are often not accurate or complete. Well yes and no. It depends on your lawyer. A really good lawyer (Richard Prince's lawyer for example) could allow you to collect royalties of derived work. However, most of the time no, you can't collect royalties. Example: youtube. Example: tributes to a singer. You could profit from it but you couldn't collect royalties from a live concert.
  7. "We have been evaluating, and will continue to respond to, the many business, technical and regulatory complexities stemming from the recent addition of Huawei to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Export Administration Regulations Entity List. As a result, we are resuming the sale of existing inventory of Huawei devices at Microsoft Store.” Way to go Microsoft!! Ok, Google, get the heck back in the Huawei game. You know the charges are BS.

I thought Apple fanboys were protective of its brand but google got a 24/7 online legal team ready to issue summons, subpoena evidence, wiretap phones, cease property and toss people in Guantanamo to defend google. OMG. lol.

Unable to delete files ("File Access Denied")

could just bypass Microsoft NTFS and UWP permissions by booting into a linux live disc/usb and delete the files from there as said above though I'm not sure if deleting random files from a UWP would corrupt the package or cause other issues or not.
  10. Whoever is still rooting for SMS in 2019 is doomed to fail especially when the internet has become commonplace. Why would it make sense to choose something that is less secure and has fewer features, users?
  11. Someone like You would have most likely been sentenced to death many times over and over criticizing state or companies over there for things like pollution of the air for example IP theft is different in China than elsewhere. Also, the US has a pretty non-existent track record of abiding by foreign IP (as well as foreign cultural appropriation in general).
  12. If what you say is true, how come no other Chinese company has been banned? Lenovo, OnePlus are selling fine in the US...Tons of stories about Huawei stealing IP from various companies, I have no sympathy towards them. What's considered "IP" in China is different than in Europe, and again still in the USA. So "stealing IP" in American terms is primarily sufficient financial compensation for utilization (or even inspiration), whilst other countries see it as explicit attribution of such influence, whilst others see it as a quaint Western concept of property ownership which (wait for it...) does NOT exist in China. If Western-friendly IP laws do not exist (and/or are not enforceable/enforced) then how can they agree on whether a violation actually happened? BTW, the USA is one of the countries who practically never signs/ratifies/abides by international (read UN/UN-related) treaties and promises... including multi-lateral acknowledgement and respect for foreign-listed patents (with few explicit exceptions). In other words, the USA allows themselves to exploit foreign IP but gets into a tizzy if a foreign country [allegedly] exploits USA IP. Ha.

Ya USA and Canada are pretty scary politically and people always arguing, i read the FBI did search and they found that the porn was sent to him thru emails by an ex democrat? and the attachments were never opened. Again i'm not saying Alex is the greatest person ever, i do believe he's being played. The whole sandy hook thing took him down, he did later say he no longer believes what he once said, weather he really believes that or not who knows, but he;s not the first one to make up conspiracy's, there are 100's of them about 9/11 yet you don't see those people being banned and under fire from the victims family's. Also i don't listen to Alex never have, but i do know who he is and what he does. He's not my favorite person. but to me he is a person under attack. Some may say he deserves it. idk.
  14. Straight up stealing content Are the Genius lyrics behind a paywall or anything? If not can't any search engine scrape their site including the lyrics, that's how they work after all. Of course they are supposed to link to the site the results came from, if Google is just posing their lyrics without any link or mention of where they came from that's definitely not right imo.

Is it possible to delete an Neowin account

there is a sticky thread for this right at the top of the site & forum issues page for most users no because deleting posts can ruing thread continuity however if you are in a region that falls under GRPD then you can request it
  16. He's already under investigation for other crimes which is how these emails even turned up so I'm sure we'll find out if he's responsible for them. I don't know but I'll wait for the authorities to sort it out. I do believe is he's just a really terrible person who makes his money spouting hatred and of course he's not the only one (but he's one of the worst). I hardly ever even watch the news anymore, seems like the whole world has gone insane. All this us vs them fighting, political parties turning into opposing armies, it's a shame to see what our country has become. As for Google, I'm sure they are just like any other mega company in that they'll abuse their power or even break laws if it makes them more profits. Power corrupts and Google is a very powerful company.
  17. I've looked before and i can't see anything along the lines of deleting or deactivating an account

Link me a page where Alex jones has ever threatened or told some one to commit murder. Is there any story where Alex says flat out "im going to kill *blank*" or "im going to kill you" I'm pretty sure this is just alex being alex he talks about demons and stuff all the time. The blonde on the view just said the other week Trump needs to be shot and who ever does it needs to make sure they get him good, dont leave any finger twitching. But i didn't know about this so thanks. I still don't believe the Child stuff is his.

They're not saying they own the lyrics or anything of the sort. They're saying Google takes the work they've done off of their site and uses it/posts it, on their own without asking or even showing a link back to the source. Genius doesn't just post the lyrics, they go to a good deal of effort to explain the meaning behind them and other parts of useful info. That's the value-add, but by google just taking the lyrics right off of their site and posting them they're impacting the amount of traffic that ends up reaching Genius directly. This is just with song lyrics, but the same can apply to other things. If Google is allowed to just snatch any bit of useful info from a 3rd party site and post it directly on it's search page then it has way too much control over the gateway to the rest of the internet. This is still nonsense. Google isn't taking their value-add at all. They both have rights to the lyrics according to others here. This is two different "search" engines having the same information and offering results. And, btw, Genius doesn't do ANYTHING with regards to the "meaning" of songs. They claim to, but it's just ######. It's actually just a forum with random fans posting what they think is the meaning and sometimes, rarely, actually quoting another authoritative source. Which anyone could have gotten from using Google too, of course. Now, if Google is using a version of the lyrics from their site, they should provide a link as a courtesy, of course. But there are no grounds for a monetary lawsuit just because people might not be as easily tricked into going to their ###### music forum site when all they are looking for is a song's lyrics. Simply, no, and no, and no... I can add stylized quotes, or fixes to a work, and then I own the copyright to that 'changed version' of the content, no matter if it is freely available or if another company has license to the base context, that my 'work' is derived. The side note here, this is not new for Google, and their theft of vertical search content results are one of the biggest complaints against them, and also one of the few areas where they have been fined and paid remunerations. In example... If I have a website that catalogs and does a better search of 'Cool Sports Cars', pulling from data freely available on the internet - Google cannot just suck off my search results and display them, especially when they are doing this because my search works better than theirs with regard to Sports Cars and the specific data I have amalgamated.

    Bed bugs?

They are moving back into every North American city (and European etc) so established habit and procedures and attitudes will need to change any way so it won't hurt to be at the forefront of rewiring your brain on the subject. For example if you live in Manhattan, you can assume bedbugs or bedbug eggs on just about anything, RIGHT NOW. So the entrance of living areas will need to adapt to that new (old) reality. Anything from the outside needs to be placed in an enclosure which bugs can't escape from when you enter the house - briefcases, luggage, shoes, umbrellas, whatever you took into the world every day. The bugs can't go through plastic bags. So all returning luggage and clothes can be bagged in thick plastic. The clothes and shoes you wear should be in a dryer for an hour on the hottest setting. If the worst happens, you just need to set up "Hamburger Hill" as I have described and maintain "Dust Discipline" If you live in an urban environment, you might as well start practicing this anyways because sooner or later a guest or yourself will track them in. EDIT: I have probably not emphasized enough that the clothes thing is a major distraction and very close to an Urban Myth. It is NOT the first place to be concerned about. They can get CRUSHED in clothes so millions of years of evolution means they seek out tiny thin hard enclosed spaces in preference to clothes. They are much more likely to want to hide inside your phone or tablet or computer monitor or hard luggage than clothes. If you actually see them in clothes, it means there are so many of them that the GOOD SPOTS have already been occupied by their buddies! EDIT #2: They prefer humans for food (and only blood, no water or anything else at all), but if you cut them off their primary food they will turn to pets in an emergency. If you own pets, the simple procedure I have outlined to deal with them becomes vastly complicated!
  25. If you don't want to mess up your Uber rider rating, don't use it as the getaway car for an armed robbery. A Brentwood man is under arrest after Suffolk County police say he robbed a local Dunkin Donuts late Sunday evening with the unwitting help of the rideshare service. Cops say Andrew Sandson, 57, entered the Suffolk Avenue store just after 9:30 p.m. and handed over a note saying he had a gun and wanted cash. The employee at the register complied and Sandson, who never actually showed a gun, left with the money and fled in a car. Police say the man seen in the video placed an order, but jumped on the counter to steal cash when an employee at the Dunkin' Donuts opened the register to complete the transaction. A customer noted the license plate, which was traced back to an Uber that Sandson took to his Grant Avenue home following the robbery. Police said the Uber driver was not involved in the robbery. It was not immediately clear if Sandson tipped for the ride. Sandson is scheduled to be arraigned on third-degree robbery charges on Monday. Source
