  2. I don't sign-in with a Microsoft account so hopefully I will be spared this nonsense. Always head games and control tactics with Microsoft, heaven forbid Windows users actually enjoy using the O/S or have control over their PC. What AI bloat is Microsoft going to put into Windows to make our decisions for us?

  4. >Signing out of your profile now requires opening a submenu hidden behind a three-dot button. OR one can do it the ways everyone else has been doing to decades now: 1) Click on your profile picture in the start menu and select "Sign Out". OR 2) Press ctrl-alt-del and select "Sign Out" from the options.
  5. Microsoft is well aware that this is a personal account compared to a work/school account. A vast, copious swath of users with personal machines and personal accounts never log out of them. This change makes sense, in that context. I'd bet this is not the same behavior for work/school accounts that are logged in, without even looking. And besides: beta.
  6. Oh I can't wait to see our help desk ticket volume skyrocket once this stupid change is made public. As with many of these other changes though, I expect/hope it can be disabled with a registry change, which we can quickly push to all our clients through our RMM.

Wifi via cell phone really slow

The first one on 2.5 or 5? What is the speed (wired) from your router? (To see the difference) If you have good 5G, you must be near a cell tower. @BudManmight know more about wifi, but that's my 2 cents.
  11. Honestly its sad. I was a big Windows fan. Vista and 8 made me move to Mac. 10 made me move BACK to Windows as I loved how it was more forward thinking and has better multi-tasking features. I was willing to give 11 a good try. I didn't love it at first but was eager to see what was in store. Now every time they seem to make 11 better they also add a bunch of Bull**** to it making it 1 step forward and 2 back. I actually find myself going back to Mac. A Surface Pro with M1/M2 like performance, battery life and OLED used to be my dream device. Now with how Windows 11 is, even though that exact device is rumored to drop next month, I just do NOT care. With all the Ads, crap UI decisions and AI junk in Windows now I just don't want a new Surface Pro. I'm more interested in the upcoming M4/M5 OLED MacBooks.
  12. Yes the Sign Out has been part of the Account icon for a while now. To me it actually makes sense as its an account related action.

    Transformers One (2024)

3 minutes and 2 seconds ago, I didn't even think "Hey, a Prime and Megatron buddy movie sounds like a thing I'd watch". I feel I have reassessed. This looks like some good, dumb fun!
  14. Ok good, so it’s not just me who thinks the option is confusing. Dark Pattern…this might be IRL example of this… Also can anyone confirm if sign out option under the power button on the start menu is removed?
  15. Good god... This is just absurd. This is some next-level Dark Pattern corporate ######. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_pattern
  16. Okay, honestly please tell me if you agree with me on this because this placement of the sign-out makes it appear as an option to “sign out” of your microsoft account and unlink your Microsoft account from your PC. This interface is very similar to how you sign out of Microsoft and Xbox websites, in the office desktop apps, and in visual in studio! The option doesn’t scream “log off this workstation”. Rather it screams “disconnect my Microsoft account from this pc”. I’m not the type of person to go on a rant every time there’s a UI change—nitpicking about little things are extremely frowned upon in Islam. But this issue I think is big enough that it will actually confuse people, I think, of it’s functionally. Heck I’m a power user and even I would be questioning what this sign out option actually do. Also did they remove the sign out option fr the power button on the start menu?
  17. So here is the speed test result while on Wi-Fi: https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/10055702202 And this is on 5G:https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/10055704004 Crazy difference. I have no idea what could be causing this, can anybody offer some ideas?

  21. Microsoft wants to hide the 'Sign out' button in Windows 11 behind a Microsoft 365 ad by Taras Buria Microsoft is not done adding more odd stuff into its operating system. Following the not-so-great reception of new Start menu ads in one of the recent Beta builds, Microsoft is bringing even more ads, which, besides being slightly annoying, come at the cost of existing features. In build 22635.3500, the Sign Out button is now hidden behind a menu with a Microsoft 365 ad. Microsoft calls the new thing "Account Manager." In a nutshell, it is a flyout with your existing subscriptions, a Microsoft 365 upsell, and a few account-related notifications, like a prompt to add a backup phone number or enable OneDrive backups. There is now also a link to your Microsoft Account settings. Do you know what is not there? The Sign Out and Switch User button. Signing out of your profile now requires opening a submenu hidden behind a three-dot button. Apparently, Microsoft thinks showing your Xbox Game Pass subscription expiration date and the amount of OneDrive storage is more important than the "Sign Out" button. Okay. Here is how Microsoft describes the change: This update starts the roll out of the new account manager on Start menu. When you sign in with a Microsoft account, the new design gives you a quick glanceable view of your account benefits and makes it easy to manage account settings. The "Lock" button also has a new home—it now sits in the power menu alongside "Shut down," "Restart," and "Sleep" options. The new "Account Manager" offers no apparent value or practicality besides making things less convenient. Subscription data and account notifications are already available on the Settings app's home page, along with various recommendations, Copilot ads, and more. And yes, build 22635.3500 has a new banner for that section as well—there is now a Game Pass "recommendation" politely suggesting that you subscribe. But if you are already a Game Pass member, it will offer you some games from the catalog. Because "discovering your next favorite game" is what people want when opening the Settings app.

    Hello!

    Welcome to our cozy spot!
  23. Loved the Explorer branding. Then again, Microsoft did everything right back in those days for the most part. Their products actually made progress - both software and hardware. Unlike today, they weren't some idiotic form-over-function UX designer's perverted dream to suck out all functions and features and reduce it to a dumbed down unusable toy, that only looks different but does a lot less than its previous iteration. Back then, they took some seriously big jumps forward. Speaking of mice, a relatively new Microsoft Mouse that I love is the Bluetooth 3600 Mobile Mouse. It's available in nice blue and red colors and one of the most affordable ones to come with Bluetooth Low Energy. It came out around the time of Windows 8 (year 2012-13). Totally freed me from USB receiver hell and corded mice. It also comes with a tilt wheel so total 4 programmable buttons+1 wheel (can use XMouse Button Control to reassign its buttons)
