Hulu to raise Live TV base price to $54.99 starting December 18

Kryten, you are 100% right. A few years ago the "cutting the cord" because online streaming services were cheaper was true but now these once-cheap streaming services are joining the cord wagon and becoming just as expensive as they are so it's getting to the point of pointless to cut the cord if you are just gonna end up paying the same thing as cable.3 points -

Haha, I knew that was going to be asked! Since I am using it as a business laptop as well as personal, I would like that my business logo is displayed when I'm out in the field. But I don't like being reminded of work when I'm at home and instead prefer more scenic backgrounds. For the screensaver, sure I would like to switch between a GLslideshow of scantily-clad women and the xmatrix screensaver (you've got to keep the geek-look in some places!)2 points -

For years... people complained that they were paying their cable company for 1,000 channels that they didn't want. Then we got alternative online channel services that were cheaper than getting channels from the cable company. But now the online channel services have crept up in price. Hey guys... maybe the problem is the channels themselves? There are only 6 corporations that own ALL the TV channels... and the cable companies and the online services must pay them. Thus everyone's prices keep going up. Maybe it's time to avoid all live TV channels and stick to original on-demand programming from Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Disney, etc. Or read a book...2 points -
Streaming issues

In a previous thread you mentioned illegal sources for your TV viewing. I will suggest that many of these sources are poorly run, offer very little infrastructure for their service and would venture that maybe using legit streaming services will serve you better.2 points -

What I see isn't bad at all, AOE is going sort of like in the Civilization series direction (same kindof game but different in each sequel). However, what happened to the modern age as seen in this image from the AOE3 booklet (see link below) ?https://forums.ageofempires.co.../editor/jx/e1ca12aofby1.jpg2 points -

We have had this issue with Win10 before because the system can't translate the name (in your case \\VISIONDESKTOP\Kylie_Scans’) to an IP. I would get the IP of the pc in question and then use that instead of the name (ie \\192.168.1.20\kylie scans) and then test. I bet it will work if you try it that way.1 point -

"The key thing to take away from this is that this is much more powerful than something without discrete graphics, but it's also not the most powerful. If mixed reality is part of your workload, you probably want something with a little more mustard." The VRMark, PCMark 10 and 3DMark: Time Spy score clearly shows you ran that on the embedded Intel HD Graphics 630 chip and not the discrete Nvidia T2000 though.1 point -

That was the intention, give us a bribe, see if we'll bite and if enough do, slowly start pushing the price up so the deal doesn't look that good or in the end, looks worse than the deal we already had before. I expect the same thing will happen to services like Stadia, they'll start out good but will over time push the price up bit by bit that it likely will end up being cheaper to just build your own PC or buy a console lol. Fortunately for us in the UK, free tv is actually pretty good compared to other places in the world, so I just don't bother with any of the other services and any of the shows I want to watch, they will eventually go on bluray, so I'll pick and choose what I want then.1 point -

Hello, Aren't most Ethernet connections auto-MDIX these days? I'd rather just carry two cables or a crossover adapter then to go through the effort of re-terminating an already-working cable. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky1 point -

the problem is, none of the others are any better, I am going to vote for the next door neighbours dog and my cat. Agreed. I've voted Tory all my life but I can no longer do so. I'm a remainer, so as much as it sticks in my throat, I'm probably going to end up voting for the Liberals... *choke*1 point -

Easy to make promises when you know you'll never have to fulfil them! Human.Online - it's called "vote buying" - detestable in general. (It's also why governments have insisted and insisted (and insisted) on taxing anything that isn't nailed down - and if it is, not only will they tax it, they will tax the nails as well). Look at my posts in "Real World Issues" - I have nothing good to say about it as policy - anywhere.) It is the government equivalent of bribery except that it is the government (the bureaucracy) paying the bribe - see my posts in Domestic Politics regarding the "stimulus program" during the Bush the Elder Administration - and the RRCA during the Obama Administration - had these been businesses doing this, they would have been thrown in jail (bribery); however, governments doing the same thing is permissible? (And then folks wonder why I get hacked off.)1 point -
Labour Party pledges free full-fibre broadband by 2030 if elected
Zerosignull reacted to anthdci for a topic
It will be costed and in the manifesto just like 2017. Most of it will be paid for by profits made by customers paying for services like water/gas/electricity, but rather than a chunk being skimmed off for the wealthy company shareholders it is reinvested into improvements, or making other services, like broadband, free.1 point -

These people must really think their voters are thick. They're going to recruit 10,000 police with a cost ranging between £300k and £217m (because why actually give a real figure)? They're also going to buy back the whole railway, all electricity companies, all water companies, all gas companies, and royal mail. And where will this gigantic void of money just magically appear from?1 point -
