Microsoft is killing off its Cortana mobile apps everywhere except the U.S. next year

Wish they would kill it off everywhere, so tired of this stupid video game character. I never liked Halo anyway so I certainly didn't want "Cortana" in my OS.7 points -

And this Cortana integration will be US only as well. One day Microsoft will click and realise that if they want to lead the market, they have to be global. A staged US first rollout simply doesn’t work, but Microsoft doesn’t seem to understand. They’ve never given a concrete and legitimate reason as to why they fail at recognising this problem.5 points -

I don't find that increasing the number of screens or their size increases my fun or productivity to be honest. Phones still have touch keyboards so unless something comes along to revolutionize input on smaller displays, I see them as gimmicks.1 point -

ONly have the internet. There is nothing Hulu, NetFlix or any other similar service can offer that you cant find on the net for free. If you have service with T-Mobile, Netflix is included. Sprint has Hulu for free. Verizon Netflix and Disney+ for a year free. Some Sprint plans include Prime.1 point -

Being first rather than following others and missing the boat helps too. Cortona was left behind on the island while Alexa and Google Assistant sailed off into the beautiful golden sunset. After all the coconuts ran out sunburnt weak and dehydrated Cortona was captured and taken away by the savage pigmy people where they sacrificed her and ate her flesh. Cortona’s decapitated head is now on a stick warning what becomes of companies with no imagination making me-too products that no one wants.1 point -

Agreed. With everyone trying to do their own thing because they don't want to give another company money, the market is getting ridiculous. Perhaps if these companies realised that their services just aren't worth $10 a month or whatever and charged more reasonable prices then it'd at least be no worse than cable/satellite TV but I don't see them doing that any time soon.1 point -
Facebook launches Facebook Pay to make payments easier on its platform
astropheed reacted to dead.cell for a topic
But is this any different to any other company that have your card details? Someone hasn't been paying attention to Facebook. Yes. Yes, it is different. You just keep believing that. We will because evidence has shown us their inability to secure data... so not sure why you act like we're all part of some conspiracy. I am not saying that Facebook don't have a problem with privacy, because they do, i would not trust them with my card details, but are they really any different to any other company we give our card details to? Look how many people use Google pay or Apple pay, why should we trust them any more than Facebook? In this day and age I don't like giving my details to any company. This is why I use paypal a lot these days, only one company to deal with. again I am not saying I 100% trust them, but it is better to give them my details than a load of other companies I do not know. Because they don't have a reputation for leaking data as poorly as Facebook. I figured that'd be obvious. No one's asking you to trust everyone either, but reputation does mean something. In this day and age, you do not know what companies do behind the scenes with your data, so many data breaches as well happening and it is going to get worse. someone even tried to take the Labour party website out in the UK. Fair enough, but that mentality isn't sustainable, as we'd never trust anyone with anything. We'd be crippled by inaction and operating a business would just not be feasible. Thus, we have to work off some sort of merit system. Those who consistently do well will get our business, just as those who consistently let us down we avoid. That's just life, we do it with friendships, relationships, and at work with the people we hire. Let's just agree to disagree though, as I think we're talking in circles. Have a good weekend!1 point -

Just some parts of hardware, and a few software things that are not opensource. Because the way you phrased it makes it sound like the US is a big market for Huawei, which it isn't. I wonder what happens when China returns the favour. I am not the biggest fan of China, but they are way more of an influence globally than the former USSR ever was. Washington should not play the same game.1 point -
