  1. Whether they agree with the the US or not, does Germany not having its own companies to build the 5G network, so the money can benefit German companies? China would never allow a foreign company to build something like this in their country, so why do Western countries continue to give them access they don't receive in kind?

  3. Apple removes customer reviews from its online store

It gets to the point where you have to make a decision A. Let the customers voice their opinion and potentially lose a sale. or B. Censor the customers and sell some garbage. They choose B.

  14. Agile development is seriously one of the worst things that has ever happened to software. Gone of the days are proper QA and finishing features. Obviously no final release will ever be bug free, but with all the major players, it feels like I’ve been a perpetual beta for years. Beta purgatory. The whole yearly major release cycle just might not be cut out for everyone, especially when you have only 3 or so months of intense beta testing.

  18. Apple removes customer reviews from its online store

I suspect this is more about Apple wanting more consumers to buy blindly without knowing if what they are buying is any good, consumers seeing user reviews that make the product look bad is less of a cut for Apple, also, I suspect many developers wanted to get rid of it for more or less the same reason. It's also one of the reasons I like about Steam and the Play Store, you can quickly get an idea if a game or app is any good just by reading through some reviews on them. So yeah, if Apple are really doing this, it's mostly because of greed in wanting consumers to buy more without them knowing if the app they are buying is any good and as we know, many of them do buy blindly.

  24. Apple removes customer reviews from its online store

Well, from the business' perspective, your negative opinion of a product is considered "interference" with other potential customers. But getting feedback (good or bad) about a product and its usefulness or perceived issues is always good for other customers. I guess Apple doesn't want that, so it's removing the option. This is pretty much what Apple has always been about - they will tell you what you need, what features or functionality is important. It's not up to you to think about those things.

You dont really know what Google Reader was as it has nothing to do with Acrobat Reader which is a PDF viewer.... I dont know why you would make this silly statement given you obviously assumed Google Reader had something to do with PDF's and then went on to say Adobe Reader is a replacement (you obviously didnt ever use or know what Reader was but just had to defend Google for some reason). Google Reader was not a PDF tool..... If you dont know what a product is dont just type blurb like you are in the know to defend something "just caus"

Eh, this is fine. Apple is just acknowledging reality here. Reviews are about customer experience and product quality, two things that have nothing to do with why people buy Apple products, so who needs 'em? 😏

Well it doesn't matter because the people I know who choose Apple do so for reasons beyond my understanding. No matter how much more value other brands give, better design, features, more customizability, less price, greater reliability, they will stick to Apple.

  41. After years of suffering degrading hearing, I got a hearing aid

For a bit of background, I was born with no hearing in my right ear, and due to this I need to protect my left ear as well as possible, but after many years of general noise exposure my hearing has declined, I have been to different doctors, and had my share of hearing tests, but this last doctor I saw finally saw the results and suggested that I would benefit from a hearing aid, and even setup the appointment. So 3 weeks ago I finally got the hearing aid, at no cost to me (the insurance covered the whole cost) and I just can not believe how much of a difference it has made, the unit is so small you can not even tell that I am wearing it, and it is bluetooth enabled, so I can use it to talk on my cell phone!

  44. I generally don't have any issues with iOS 13. It's just nice seeing updates of any kind after coming from stupid Android where everything takes months to materialize as an actual update. Where with iOS, Apple said it's released on day X and I got the update on that exact day. On Android, Google announces update, then it takes months of waiting and then the vendor you have phone from says they dropped your phone from support so you ain't getting anything in the end. With iOS we all know 5 years of software support including all the major versions is a guarantee.

  45. WhatsApp for Windows phones will shut down on December 31

They often advertise for writers. If you think you can do better... What's wrong with the writing? Perhaps you should sharpen your reading comprehension. If anything, they should advertise for editors. I refer you to your original post. Comprehension indeed. Yes, comprehension indeed. Re-read my original post. You're just digging the hole deeper. Says the guy who thought he'd make a cutting remark about the content on a site he subscribes to, then finds his remark just made him look pathetic, and yet keeps making it.

This was reported here before now, this is an additional piece. Did you miss the original? Oh no, maybe your finger is off the pulse? I mean, look - why even come here and read the news articles if all you'll do is whine? Why not do better yourself, or did you just wanna be that guy? Yes, it was reported here more than 6 months ago, and now it's here again with nothing new added. Oh no, maybe your finger is off the pulse (of reading comprehension) The rest of your comment is like a textbook example of banal internet logical fallacies, no point in even addressing it. And yet address it you did. What's new to add? Is it wrong for Neowin to remind people of things? How very dare they! Just here to moan aren't you! Sad life...

  48. Apple partnered with Goldman Sachs for the financial backing of the Apple card, which includes credit decisions. Apple designed the customer expiration, they did not design the credit approval algorithms. This is a Goldman Sachs issue. Having said that, they are partners and share responsibility. Apple will need to work with their partner to identify if this is an issue and have it corrected, if Goldman Sachs does not do so in a timely manner, then Apple needs to select a different bank. @adrynalyne You need to divorce the card from the backing institution. - I've done this per my statement "User experience is different than how a product or service is funded." You should do the same. You can't blame a financial institution for issues regarding the user experience, which is the responsibility of Apple. "Apple is not a bank." - Agreed. Which is why they specifically advertise "Card is here. A new kind of credit card. Created by Apple, not a bank." per https://www.apple.com/apple-card Scrolling down the page, you see all the reasons why the Apple card is "different" and even "Apple Card completely rethinks everything about the credit card." - This is my point. Apple is advertising a whole new experience. At the very bottom, they mention Goldmann Sachs. "Every credit card needs an issuing bank. To create Apple Card, we needed a partner that was up for the challenge of doing something bold and innovative. Enter Goldman Sachs. This is the first consumer credit card they’ve issued, so they were open to doing things in a whole new way." Scrolling completely to the bottom, you see the fine print of: Learn more about how Apple Card applications are evaluated at https://support.apple.com/kb/HT209218. - This link goes to a support page that talks about criteria for how Applications are processed by Goldmann Sachs. The last sentence of the first section states "You can also contact Apple Support if you have question about applying for Apple Card." (Under the Application Declined section, it again points to contacting Apple Customer Support. "After you complete these steps, submit your application again. If your application is declined again for the same reason, contact Apple Support." This is where I stand corrected. Apple is indeed taking responsibility for the application process by directing users to Apple Support for issues. However, it is buried within the fine print, which is definitely not "different" from Apple's advertising of a whole new credit card experience from Apple. If a company is hosting your website and uses Azure, is that also false advertising?" - All support issues I would have would go directly to the web host, not Microsoft. This proves my point of "user experience" issues being handled by the web host (or Apple in this case). "What about iPhones? Is it false advertising if it cannot be used as a phone without a non-Apple cellular provider?" - This is not my argument. I am saying the responsibility for the Apple card user experience (including application process) resides with Apple. (I've stated that I was wrong about this above, and that Apple does indeed direct users to Apple Support) @neufuse Do I hold amazon responsible for issues with my Amazon card? even though it's just a branded JP Morgan Chase card?...... This card is just a goldman sachs card branded as apple.... apple just made a digital front end for it not the card itself - I've stated above my points. However, for what it's worth, when you go to the Amazon credit card page, at the very top it says "Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card by Chase". The "by Chase" part is smaller font, but directly under the heading. https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Rewards-Visa-Signature-Card/ @greensabath We can probably summarize what you are saying as, Apple is responsible for the issue by virtue of it being their product, even if they are not at fault. Similar to how a manager can have an employee make a mistake. It wasn't his mistake. If it is otherwise a good employee you can't even say the manager should have known better than to assign the work. At the end of the day it is the manager's job to take responsibility for the quality of his group's work and make sure any issues are corrected. When a company subcontracts out part of a service they offer, they are still responsible for making it write, even if a mistake was no fault of their own.
