  1. Star Citizen crowd-funding reaches $250 million

  2. Star Citizen crowd-funding reaches $250 million

The problem is that they keep adding things as a way to get more money yet nothing is final. It's turning into a big complicated, yet nice looking, mess at this point. Full disclosure - I bought into this a few years ago. Back when I was younger and dumber. George P is correct. The "game" itself is nothing more than a giant tech demo with pieces that are loosely cobbled together to form a kind-of cohesive whole. But there's nothing really fun there except some skirmishing. A normal developer (not even a game developer, but any software dev) will have a target feature set and design and iterate to that end in code. The reason that people call this "game" a pyramid scheme is that the feature set of yesterday suddenly requires new features that need development before the game can be completed. Most games complete their existing features and release a 1.0 product and then grow that product with obvious advances, but not this game. If you tell Chris Roberts that you want to poop in a zero-G toilet, he'll assign 30 coders, artists, modelers, and animators to make sure that's the best looking poop you've ever seen in a video demo that will then take a year to reach the game, and delay production by a quarter or two. And that's just the idea he hears today. Don't give him a new idea tomorrow. Yes I'm bitter. I like the concept of this "game" but Chris has a big ego and has no idea when to draw the line and no one telling him to stop. And everyone is an apologist for the game because it is still slow as molasses for the most part unless you have an ultra-modern machine. Not to mention that every 2-3 years they have to re-tool the entire engine because it's out of date. And that in turn sets the schedule back. Don't give them any money, force them to release a product, force Chris to learn some control and boundaries. It could be a great game, even if it starts small and iterates. The combat is pretty much everything I liked from Wing Commander and a really engaging space dogfight sim. That alone could be the game. But no, they want Doom and Minecraft fanatics as well. /endrant

For the money they have raised it should be a Matrix style virtual reality simulated world. How this game is not finished boggles my mind. It does indeed have VR and the production cost to date is far less than many "triple a" titles out there. Destiny and GTA V are the most expensive video games ever produced, and this has already exceeded their budgets without even being released.

I appreciate the comments about this being a scam, but I've got to say that as someone who hasn't put any money in to this game yet I love watching the development and the new features when they come out. I'm really hoping this all gets pulled off, it looks incredible.

  9. Microsoft's Surface Go starts at $299 for Cyber Monday

I have to agree with a previous post that anything less than 8GB of RAM is an absolute waste. The Surface Pro sucks. I have seen it. I have tried it. The CPU is horrible. The device performs slow. An iPad 10.2 runs better and faster than that thing does. Considering how cheap RAM memory is this days, to put just 4GB on that tablet is insulting, not to mention the degraded Windows 10 in S Mode. I am typing this from my Galaxy Tab S3 and even this tablet performs better than that Surface Go does. It's a joke. Simply not worth it. Just my two cents.

Lol, did you even look at the game? Aye, not close to a $250m game, or even a $50m game. Totally unoptimized, runs that trash, the devs bit off way more than they would or could ever deliver on. Utter scam. You have no idea what you're talking about. I laughed, out loud, in real life, when I read that you expect an in-development alpha to be OPTIMIZED. HAHJAHAHAAHAHDSFK:ASJGAHJ The point is $250m later and it shouldn't be an in-development alpha. Truly. It's ridiculous. They should definitely keep it in "alpha" for as long as possible though because that in essence is the heart of the scam.

This will go down as the biggest scam in kickstarter history. Its been ongoing since 2012 I believe and thats beyond unreasonable. They've been selling micro transactions before the game is even out with pay to win stuff to for up to $40k.

GTA V was also a complete game, and made up its investment four times over in 3 days. I feel this is an important distinction because I just can't see Star Citizen making that much money back. The target market seems much more niche than the GTA series.

  24. No it was not legal. Crimea has been part of Russia for centuries. Stalin merged it with the Ukraine during the Soviet era. Crimeans never wanted to be Ukrainian. They voted to go back home. Just because it ###### off the Europeans doesn't mean it was illegal. Couple of Ukrainians I met told me "we are Russian, we speak Russian. I am not sure why we are called Ukrainians". Ahahahaha! their not Ukrainians then NO Ukrainian in their right mind would EVER call themselves Russian. Also there were more Pro-Ukrainians that weren't allowed to vote than Pro-Russians that voted, it was strong-armed. You know that Ukraine existed for 18 years to date, right? Are you ######ing high? Ukraine has existed far longer than 18 years. Obviously you are, independence in 1991 subtracted from 2019 gives you 18. Math wasn’t a strong subject eh? Actually it was even at uni but thanks for changing the subject and making it personal You didn’t need my help at all; you made it personal here by insisting it was 18. That was all you. Kinda funny you singled this comment out about it and not this one: 2019-1991 = 28 not 18. Jesus, please stop already, you can't do even a simple math so I doubt you can comprehend complicated political situation on Ukraine.

Off-roads; traveling on fire trails to hunting/fishing areas. There are also off-roading trails where people drive cross-country for fun. Also off-road rallies and other activities. First, the numbers; 2018 US/ vehicle sales, Pickups & vans: 20% SUV: 48% Cars & CUV (Crossover SUV): 38% Difference between an SUV and Crossover SUV? SUV: a truck with a modernized, and larger, station wagon body. Crossover: a car with an modernized, and larger, station wagon body. Either can have 4WD and off-road features, but the trucks are heavier duty. Uses: hauling families and "stuff." When we were re-doing the kitchen we hauled everything from cabinets to flooring and wallboard. Then we hauled the debris to be recycled. It's sometimes a matter of climate. From roughly Buffalo NY west to the Mountain states we can get buried in snow and ice "regular" cars have difficulty with. Northern MI may get 8+ meter snow accumulations, and after a cold winter it may take months to melt.

Why I went for the Rx5700, it was not stupid prices, saying that it is still more than I thought i would ever pay for a video card. i looked at the cheaper cards, the RX590, but I needed to make sure i got a card to handle what I wanted to do, so going up to the prices of a RX5700 was what was needed. It does what I need. I said I wouldn't pay over $300, which I did for RX580 during the mining boom. I did go up to the $400 mark, but just because girlfriend owed me a Christmas/birthday gift. Yeah, that damn bitcoin mining thing pretty much screwed the legit users who wanted their GPU's for what they are meant for which is pretty much gaming.

  36. Last month we have seen revolutionary efforts by gus33000 to recreate cellular support on WoA builds past 18912. Today we have learned that there is no stopping the WoA train when gus33000 tweeted out: Many of you might scratch their heads and think: what exactly is Gustave Monce trying to tell us? Full USB-C functionality is a key component in making WoA productive on MSFT's flagship smartphone. The video inside the tweet has shown support for a simple USB flash drive. Although anyone who listened to Microsoft's advertising of Continuum on Lumia 950/XL has wondered, what if full Windows 10 could be put into a device as small as a smartphone and be dockable onto the big screen? The ultimate pocket PC is about to arive, sincerely estimated by this Christmas Eve. 🎄🎄🎄 History of events: * gus33000: discovery of Windows 10 ARM 32bit build 15035 with USB-C driver support * gus33000 and imbushuo: fixes in the custom Lumia 950 boot manager * Googulator: using build 15035 and SPI logging fixes to custom USB-C driver * commit-spree by gus33000 and imbushuo on the USB-C driver repository Related thread: https://www.woaproject.net/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=120 Please consider supporting the WoA community by donating to either of these hacker heroes. 38. Yes, I don't care what Intel did or didn't do in the past, whether it serves them right or not. What I care about as a consumer is sufficient competition in the market. A competitor that's squeezed out because others leveraged patent disputes, not even on them, but on their client base to cut them out, that's not something I applaud. Even if the victim is or was also a perpetrator.

While I am sure it's nice on some level, $499 is just too much for a GPU as I tend to see general graphics cards to be worth NO MORE THAN $300-ish MAX. although I would feel more comfortable in the $200-ish or less range which probably gives one the best all around performance for $ spent I suspect.

Looks like a design NASA would create for a lunar vehicle meant to move payloads, where looks are less of a concern than utility. Not sure I'm a fan of the looks, but that's not the main point. Got to love Elon's attempt to spin the looks as a positive though, with lasers and fireballs. On the other hand, in some cases, cars these days are becoming overcontoured with all sorts of indents and bevels, and in most cases they're a crutch in the design, because they would look like sh-t if you flattened the surfaces.

  47. No it was not legal. Crimea has been part of Russia for centuries. Stalin merged it with the Ukraine during the Soviet era. Crimeans never wanted to be Ukrainian. They voted to go back home. Just because it ###### off the Europeans doesn't mean it was illegal. "Crimea has been part of Russia for centuries." - one of the many lies repeated by brainwashed russkies. Do you know how Crimea became "always primordially Russian"? Until 1783 there were no Russians in Crimea. The composition of the Crimean population in the 1770s was: 454,700 people (92.6% of Crimean Tatars, 4% of Armenians, 3.1% of Greeks, 0.3% of Crimean and Karaites). Indigenous population consisted of Crimean Tatars who lived there for centuries. In 1783, the Russian Empire occupied Crimea and immediately began destruction and expelling of indigenous people from Crimea and started to import Russians. With Russians came Ukrainians. In 1944, Russia forcibly expelled the last native Crimean. In 1948, the USSR adopted a decree on renaming Crimean areas from Tatar names to Russian. So, in *165* years, Russia took homeland from the Crimean people and Crimea became "primordially Russian." In 1954, the Crimean region was transferred from the Russian SFSR to the Ukrainian SSR. In 1956, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR issued a decree and allowed the return of the Crimean Tatars to their homeland. In 1979, the population of Crimean Tatars slowly began to grow (0.5%). Until 2014, their population grew to 13%. In 2014, Russia returned back, started persecution of natives and started to make Crimea into "always primordially Russian" territory again. Russians remind me Germans during the war. Their citizens are spreading destruction, occupy territories, support state terrorism and corrupt dictator, who is incapable to make country prosper (despite being 2% of World population sitting on 30% of all World natural resources) and think that they are the "good guys" because of the state TV propaganda.

  48. The people of Crimea (mainly descendants of Russians) voted to be annexed to Russia. Russia decided that it's ok, you are welcome in Russia. However, and suddenly, democracy does not work, and if you say otherwise, then you are a pro-Putin (or Nazi). Was the election rigged? Well, nobody has proved that it was rigged. In any case, nobody cared about Crimea, especially Ukraine. But, it was in the way of a big project to transport gas to Europe and everybody when bananas about it (everybody = Germany), including the son of Biden. Of course, IT IS ILLEGAL TO RESEARCH IT.
