This is all just a marketing scam to trick people into thinking more MP is better. Let's not forget that MP is pointless unless you have a proper lens to collect the detail. Awesome, so you can print a 6 foot wide picture at 300dpi from your 200MP image, but it will look like absolute garbage since the clarity is so poor. And downsizing that massive image doesn't magically make it any better. It's a shame that instead of designing better camera hardware, some companies are going the deceptive route via software...3 points -

Wow, lot of hate and misinformation about being capable of handling more megapixels. You do realize these are 200mp SENSOR INPUT capabilities. In theory you could have a 2" sensor with 100 or 200mp and even without a built in lens, be able to capture higher quality footage than a professional camera used to shoot Avengers. MORE INPUT capabilities are BETTER, even if the sensor that will be used is only 20MP. Right? FFS2 points -

200 MP sensors... somehow I have a feeling there is a lot of pixel filling and the sensor is no where near that just makes a 200 MP image... and since this is a tiny as heck sensor it's going to have noise, it's goingoto be blurry, heck DSLR cameras have mega large sensors (compared to these tiny 1/8" to 1/4" ish sensors and can still suffer at times with this... I'd rather have a larger sensor then a higher MP sensor...2 points -

AMD's 7nm Radeon VII GPU is selling for just $499
ThaCrip reacted to Paul1979UK for a topic
Why I went for the Rx5700, it was not stupid prices, saying that it is still more than I thought i would ever pay for a video card. i looked at the cheaper cards, the RX590, but I needed to make sure i got a card to handle what I wanted to do, so going up to the prices of a RX5700 was what was needed. It does what I need. I was in the same boat, I wanted a decent upgrade and went for the RX5700 and it's the most expensive card I've ever bought and at this rate, unless prices come down a lot, I'll be dumping PC gaming for console gaming when my next upgrade cycle comes around. The thing is, I can't dump PC gaming for consoles because when it comes to shooters, which is mostly what I played over the years, a mouse+keyboard is far superior to a controllers analog stick as with a mouse it takes much less time to track something on screen and hit your target. I pretty much can't enjoy shooters on consoles because my aiming abilities are not up to a certain standard where as on a PC they are. so it's not a small difference for me as it's the difference between enjoying a game and not enjoying it. I don't want to dump PC gaming but over the last 5 or so years, gpu prices have sky-rocketed, but we are seeing signs of improvement with cpu's, memory, SSD's and so on. If AMD can compete at the high end with gpu's and pull a Ryzen on Nvidia, that could really shake up the market like we are seeing with the cpu market since Ryzen got released 3 years ago. Like I said, I'll see how it is on my next upgrade cycle but if things don't improve a lot in the gpu market, I'm going back to consoles as they keep bumping up the price where it feels like we are paying more for less. I see. but the main thing is as long as we can get a reasonably price GPU that will last years. because as long as the PC market continues to do at least that much, I would not even consider jumping ship and I especially think that's true if one is staying around 1080p level gaming (with decent enough frame rates). Isn't that the problem? the next gen of consoles are very likely going to be native 4k for most games and looking at the specs we are hearing, 8 core Ryzen cpu, SSD drive, gpu at least 50% faster than the One X if not close to 100% faster not to mention the rest of the hardware. How much do you think a PC gamer will have to spend to match that in one years time? The gpu alone is likely going to be around the same price as the entire next gen console and this is where the real problem is as many will look at the two and see PC gaming as not being worth it any more. We need a major price crash with gpu's next year or I suspect many will dump the PC for the next gen of consoles. You might be fine with 1080p gaming but this gen of consoles is already past that and the next gen is likely going to be native 4k for most games, so ask yourself what's the odds of getting a gpu that can do 4k with most games at around $200 late next year? because that is where the real problem is, gpu prices are way too expensive for many. Good point. hopefully prices come down. but thankfully I don't play much games anymore and what I do play is just me replaying games I played in the past. besides, I tend to see 4k in general not worth it over standard HD, especially on video. I don't think 4k is worth it at the moment but it's a given that the next gen of consoles will likely deliver that with most games considering how well the Xbox One X is doing that with many games. I think for the PC to compete, you'll have to be able to build one for around $600 and no more than $800 that can match the next gen of consoles in gaming performance. For that to happen, gpu prices will have to drop a lot, everything else is coming down, cpu's, memory, SSD drives but gpu's prices are still way too high, more so if you want anything that can compete with the next gen of consoles.1 point -

Microsoft is reportedly still working on a disc-less next-gen console

Who are they catching up to? To the rest of the world.... the pun being that they have to "work" to figure out how to build a disc-less console... I'll send them over my little nephew to help them out... Which other consoles are disc-less? Or do not accept some sort of physical medium? You're acting like this is common place, and in the console world it is absolutely not. Google Steam Machine... the idea and concept is not new... it just that Microsoft is playing catch up... Steam machines? You mean those things that hardly anyone used and were an abysmal failure? How could Microsoft be playing catch-up to some niche device that flopped? Those aren't consoles anyway, they're just small PCs running Valve's version of Linux.1 point -

Instagram will now ask for your birthday when creating an account
dead.cell reacted to George P for a topic
At some point, those under age, the parents need to step in and know what's going on with their kids online. If they have a instagram account the parents should at least try to follow it and keep track. The problem comes when parents don't bother at all. Agreed, but I'm not disputing that. I'm just sayin if Instagram's gonna have any rules regarding age, and you ask them the age of the user, the answer shouldn't be 🤷♂️. Just makes sense from a legal perspective, let alone tailoring ads, and/or mechanisms to prevent harassment, as you mentioned to Brandon H above. Yup, it's all so instagram is covered legally, which is a surprise why it took them this long?1 point -
