  6. So Apple are selling $6000 ugly trash metal box that you can play Solitaire on it cause nothing else would run on it? What a great deal, I'm so bored not playing Solitaire on every platform I own, because it can run more entertaining games, I should totally get one of those $6000 ugly pieces of trash.

and they still let him use twitter... the SEC who fined Musk for his "$420 funding secured" tweet must have got it wrong. Apparently Musk can say whatever he likes and it doesn't affect anything. Just another case of guilty until proven rich. If that British guy had the money to keep appealing, he would win against Musk

  11. Hands on with the reborn Motorola razr

The foldable phone is an idea that was way overdue. Ever try to put one of those monstrous 6" long phones into a pants pocket (and expect it to remain there or remain usable after you have sat on it)? Doesn't fit. The original Razr v3 way back when (I had one) was a superlative idea then and is a superlative idea now.

  13. if that doesn't work then you may want to think moving away from Debian to a linux distro that's more about staying up to date and may have more drivers available. Here are a few distros I'd recommend: Manjaro (Arch Linux based Distro. Uses XFCE desktop environment by default) Fedora Mint Linux Ubuntu (use flavor of choice; has options of most desktop environments)

  14. Update: The command worked without issue, rebooted laptop and still WIFI not available and does not load the drivers. So we decided to download Debian 10.2 because it have linux kernel 5 and could be compatible with the laptop. We will test it and report back.

  15. Caroll Spinney Dies at 85

Caroll Spinney, the legendary puppeteer behind beloved Sesame Street characters Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch, died today, December 8th 2019, at age 85 at his home in Connecticut, after living with Dystonia for some time. Since 1969, Caroll’s kind and loving view of the world helped shape and define Sesame Street. His enormous talent and outsized heart were perfectly suited to playing the larger-than-life yellow bird who brought joy to countless fans of all ages around the world, and his lovably cantankerous grouch gave us all permission to be cranky once in a while. In these characters, Caroll Spinney gave something truly special to the world. With deepest admiration, Sesame Workshop is proud to carry his legacy – and his beloved characters – into the future. Our hearts go out to his beloved wife, Debra, and all of his children and grandchildren. We will miss him dearly.

  19. The takeaway from this comment is how hilarious it is that you thought this was a machine for gamers. As for it being ugly, how often do you look at your computer tower instead of just...using it? Your comment is hilarious too. "how often do you look at your computer" are you kidding me ? this is what you came up with to justify the ugliest design that a trillion dollar company can do? You sound exactly like Apple : "if you have reception issues you're holding the phone the wrong way " This computer is not ugly YOU just don't have to look at it. Most laughable thing about this machine is not just the looks the 256GB SSD in a 6000$ workstation is the punch line of the joke. LOL...I guess some people do want a fashion statement from their computer tower. To each their own I guess. 🤣

After receiving erroneous information from the "investigator" ... he sent an email to Buzzfeed, in part ... “I suggest that you call people you know in Thailand, find out what’s actually going on and stop defending child rapists, you #####,” he wrote. “He’s an old, single white guy from England who’s been traveling to or living in Thailand for 30 to 40 years, mostly Pattaya Beach, until moving to Chiang Rai for a child bride who was about 12 years old at the time.” All of that post-dated his "apology" tweet.

  25. Full article at TheDrive tl:dr ... Instead of charging $300 for AirPlay, BMW is thinking about an annual subscription of $80 (first year free). (sarcasm to follow) Next up, subscriptions to use anti-lock brakes and seat belts. Using the AC requires a cruise control subscription.

  26. I can't digest buying a suppose workstation that target creative artists at $6k and have only 256 SSD. I rather spend that amount of money in something else. I am an Apple user and I know what make sense and not make sense when I buy an Apple product.

  27. I don't know what the newest flagship goes for, but I paid $550 for my 6T and like it quite a bit. If this is a mid-range targeted device it should be $500 max IMO. The 7T is $600, so if this is below that $500 is absolutely a maximum.

  28. XviD Codec 1.3.6

XBMC is the reason I got an Xbox, well that and the amazing homebrew scene. At the time DivX capable DVD players were so expensive. Yet you could mod an Xbox and it would be far more capable than any device you can buy off the shelf. I do like how we have gone full circle and now have Kodi on the Xbox One with Microsoft's blessing.

  31. XviD Codec 1.3.6

XviD used to be my bread-and-butter in the old days on XBMC (XBox Media Center) for the original XBox console for general video playback. but nowadays I don't see much use for it given x264 is basically the standard now and has been for quite a few years now.

  32. Hands on with the reborn Motorola razr

I like it, even if I don't find the price to be reasonable. Specs need a bump and I feel like they need a bit more thought put into single-hand use because just watching you in action looks like it'd be rather annoying. Also, curious how the display holds up in quality because it doesn't look very vibrant in the video, but not sure if that's just because of the camera or lighting you're using. The last thing that concerns me is what benefit we gain from all of this. Having a single camera makes sense if it reduces cost, but then the second front-facing display adds the cost right back into it, and it's not like you gain a tablet either. Think it just goes to show that foldable phones still struggle to solve a problem, especially when current phones also will hold up way better in terms of durability. 🤷‍♂️

No way. There are minimal benefits of this phone. $1500 is basically for nostalgia. I can't see how the Razr can cost $1500 when it doesn't really offer any true usability advantage over current phones. The screen isn't any bigger than what we have with the current phones. Heck, my Galaxy S10+ has a bigger screen. The screen quality isn't up to my S10+. It doesn't have a top-of-the-line SoC. It's not thinner than the latest smartphones. It won't have the usability of other folding phones (while open, it's behaves like my S10+). the battery is only 2500 mAh. Flipping it open will be novel for maybe the first 100 times you do it. After that, it's just a regular phone that you have to flip open. Motorola is depending on nostalgia and the media is slurping that up. I loved my Razr back in the day because it offered a lot of advantages over competitors and was very stylish. But I don't see that with this one.

All of these first wave of folding screen devices are going to be pricey, no way around it for now. Maybe 2nd gen 2020 models or into 2021 we'll see more reasonable pricing which would help these take over in the market.

Along with not having all the candy crush cortana crapware installed this is another reason to run LTSC. The 1809 release is supported until 2024, no forced updates or upgrades.

  46. That can't be right, Apple fanatics told me Apple invented all this... well then they changed their story later to they made it better... Apple may have a BS marketing strategy that claims everything they do is pure perfection, but that does not mean every Apple customer runs around regurgitating that. I see people make comment's like your's all the time, yet I never see Apple users make the claims you say they make. Just because someone buys a product and uses its features does not mean they are a personification of the press release. Apple has been the first to popularize many technologies, some are first, others have been tried somewhat unsuccessfully in the past. They also follow other leaders plenty of the time. It happens both ways, and if you don't see that you are being deliberately dishonest about the facts. Did I say everyone apple customer does this? I said fanatics... Fanatic - "a person filled with excessive and single-minded zeal, especially for an extreme religious or political cause."
