  2. If you are in the UK and have any device that can pick up any form of BBC TV then you are eligible to pay the licence. It doesn't matter if it's a TV, smartphone or a PC. They will get you. You can't even buy a tuner card for your laptop without having to give your adress first. Purely for TV licence checking. No, this is wrong. Also asking for address has not been a requirement for years. The license is only required for viewing live television or using the iPlayer. Just because the device can receive broadcasts does not make the license a requirement if they're not actively being used.

  18. As much as people want to complain about this sort of thing I say good on Microsoft for being diligent. Techies that know what they're doing and don't care are one thing, but the average user should be made aware in whatever way possible that their system is going out of support. At this point standard users really should upgrade or buy new equipment to stay secure and running smoothly if their machine is connected to the internet.

  26. The new Windows Ugly Sweater has a Windows XP theme

Mmm hmm. How long have you been in computers? XP was considered a disaster at first - people cried about the activation scheme, then the instability and driver issues, much heavier system requirements over 98/2000 and then the huge security issues that weren't resolved until SP2. Since 1990, Windows 3.0. Those were all fabricated issues. Instability? It was a massive leap for 9x users and over 2000 too: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...XP#Reliability_improvements . Driver issues only a very small % people faced. Activation? Volume licensed which everyone pirated FCKGW didn't even have it. The security issue was the only real issue but it was for IE6 with ActiveX which was fixed with SP2 with ActiveX blocking. Microsoft jumped the shark after XP, first with Vista, then recovered for 7 somewhat but its quality was never as good as XP, and then with 8/8.1/10 they have gone bonkers about quality. Fabricated 🤣 I was working escalations for Microsoft on XP support back then. There was nothing fabricated.

  29. True, very true, i have been lucky to be honest, I have only ever had two visits and both of them have been when I have not been here. The fact that you say you are "lucky" implies that you feel that you should be paying but haven't been caught? I am saying I am lucky because I can not be bothered to argue with them, because they think they are right and most of the time they are wrong. they are goons, plain and simple, people employed by a iffy company to start with. i am within the law, i watch Netflix, now TV, DVD/blue-ray and You Tube stuff, that is it really, I may watch the odd catch up from the commercial channels. The last time they came my neighbour told them to buzz off, that was a few years back, i have a security camera now and i think they are scared of cameras,, people point one at them and they run off. uinlike some countries we do not have a levy on entertainment, this is something France and Germany seems to have and i think Ireland is doing now. i do not see why people should pay for a public TV service they do not use. , if people want to watch it then fine, have a subscription.

  31. Not so with the bloody ###### corporation, their 'tv detector vans' and all that other crap that have absolutely no scientific backing... What detector vans? They was a lie, they was empty, nothing in them and in this day and age, these things would not work. I know of someone who never had a TV licence, they even had sky TV and yet never had a visit. Maybe it was because they lived in the sticks and no one could be bothered to go there. Hence why I said with no scientific backing. I guess no scientific backing is a bit too strong because it is possible to check for the presence of a TV on a specific channel - you know the frequency that it will be listening on so you broadcast on that frequency and frequencies around it and see what the return loss if, if it's less on that frequency then it shows there is a device, which is most likely going to be a TV but not always, operating in that area. And that doesn't mean you have the exact address, it means there is a device using that frequency in the general area. Of course none of which would be admissible in court because it's all guesswork.

Better for what? I guess you never used windows ME before. Windows ME was the biggest joke of a Operating System that Microsoft has released, just next to windows 8.0 I never had a problem with ME but then again I had newer parts at the time so maybe that's why. Same with Vista. Windows ME was a perfectly fine OS. Just so long as you installed absolutely nothing extra. Vista was fine from day one on the right hardware.

  33. Yeah, it's also been discovered that some games are just higher cost too, by like a baseline of $10. Imagine paying more for a singleplayer game that you get to have lag on. ...It also takes away from the whole "price savings" if you're gonna end up paying more anyway. ...aside from other complaints too, such as some titles just being 1080p upscaled to 4K, not native 4K as claimed. I dunno. It's a damn mess. I worked it out by just buying 6 games per year and being on Stadia pro over 3 years, I could build a decent PC gaming rig or buy two consoles with just the savings from games. Stadia sounds cheap on the surface but gamers are subsidizing the hardware by higher cost games and any gamer that plays a few games per year, Stadia can work out more expensive than what we already have and only really works out cheaper if you are a really light gamer. Yeah, it's not going to be cheap, and god help the customers if Google decides to back out later down the road. Honestly, I've said this before, but they should've started with the free model first, then grew the platform out from there. xCloud by comparison isn't receiving negativity because people know it's still in testing and isn't really costing them anything extra. It's just smart, especially if the concept is still unproven or half-baked @ Google. If that was to happen, the uproar would be immense, Google would likely have to refund every game that was bought on the service and that won't be cheap, I suspect if the service was to ever close down, the law will likely get involved. The problem with the free service is that a lot more people would likely try the service out which I doubt Google wants just yet, they are testing the service for now and seeing how well it copes, and they plan on doing a free tier but if most gamers jump on that, I suspect they'll scrap it a year or so after as I doubt they can afford too many gamers going on the free tier, buying a few games and clocking up countless hours that Google have to pay for the hardware and bandwidth on just one cut per game sale. Yeah, but it would work better I think. They could've even did invite only, similar to how they rolled out Gmail. That way they control the influx of people, improve the platform, make margins on selling games, and continually showcase that you have more and more people joining which looks great for investors. You know how much buzz the Stadia subreddit would have if people were able to give away keys every so often? It'd grow the social platforms as well! Compare that to angering paying customers, and potentially losing traffic when people call it DOA, among all the bad press from bugs and issues... It just sounds like the rocky road built around a short-term cash in vs. a true long-term service. But that's the thing, would they even make any margins?, that one off cut per game isn't likely going to cover the cost of bandwidth and hardware use, more so if gamers buy few games and clock up many hours as it's around 14GB or 17GB per hour play, Google has to pay for all that and it will eat into all the margins they make if gamers are on the free tier, in fact they might end up with a loss. Stadia seems to be targeting mobile and casual gamers, gamers that tend to clock up fewer hours and buy fewer games, these are also the kind of gamers that are likely to jump on the free tier and I doubt the service can work like that. Still, it will be interesting to see how it works because for now, games cost more on Stadia than they do on the PC and consoles and if you do the maths over 6 games per year over 3 years, you could build a PC rig or buy two consoles with the savings you get if you use Stadia Pro. For me it just doesn't seem worth it when I can build a gaming PC, have full control over it and if I want, I can stream games to other devices using my PC, in fact the new AMD drivers have just been updated which allows you to do that directly from the drivers.

I can go into any store and buy any TV and not tell them anything about myself. I have never given my name and address when buying a smartphone or a PC, what about people who build their own P.C? If you live in the UK, then i suggest you read up about our rules, even if you do not live in the UK, I suggest you get yourself up to date and stop producing trash like you have.

  36. Armageddon Cookies -an Original Warwagon Cookie Recipe

The other day I was going ot make cookies but was short some of the ingredients so I just skipped them. So I coined the term "Armageddon Cookie" . An Armageddon Cookie is when you want to bake cookies but it's the Armageddon so you are short a few ingredients and you have to get creative. The ingredients I did not have and left out where Backing Soda Brown Sugar Vanilla In the case of baking soda I figured it had something to do with helping the cookie rise, so I was looking around my house for some and found a package of corn bread mix. I thought, corn bread rises, lets use that!! In an attempt to make it healthier I reduced the sugar and used wheat flower. The end result is on the best cookies I have personally ever tasted. Armageddon Cookies It makes around 48 cookies. (The photo is for thanksgiving, I made two batches). It’s probably one of the more healthy cookies. 1 cup sugar 6 eggs 1 tsp salt 2 soft sticks of unsalted butter. 2.5 cups of Wheat Flour 2 boxes of Cornbread muffin mix. The .80 cent ones. Add all the ingredients into a bowl and stir until thoroughly mixed. Roll sticky dough into little balls with flowered Hands or use a cookie scoop. Preheat oven to 375F and bake for 12 min. Now go make some!!!!! Then let me know what you think. If you only want to make a few just use have of each ingredient listed.

On Windows this is my go-to video playback software (I was using The KMPlayer years ago before the dev switched to this) as the program is just nice and snappy and has GPU accelerated x264 video playback. it's the all around smoothest/snappiest video playback software as I never understood VLC's appeal as it's overall feel is inferior to PotPlayer. EDIT: I just noticed it says 'ad supported installation'. they must have screwed with this since the last I knew. but apparently one can avoid installing the BS during the install.

  44. the S series is their flagship series though; everything below that doesn't get quite as much love. I have the 2018 Variant of the Galaxy A8 and it took until April this year to get Android 9, I just got the September security update a few weeks ago and I'm doubtful they'll push Android 10 to the device at all even though it will still be within the supposed 2 year support cycle by the time 10 finalizes. It's better than it used to be but still not on par IMO with how good support should be.

We have much better things to do than constantly having to "fix" WIndows-10 because of a rogue update. True the last two or many three months have been smooth; but, you'll need a much longer track record of smooth updates for us to consider Windows-10 a worthy upgrade to Windows-7.

  47. Santa Claus has issued a warning that some toys may not be ready in time for delivery due to some ‘staffing issues’ at the North Pole. In a video recorded at one of his toy manufacturing plants at the North Pole, Father Christmas told parents, “I’m afraid that there has been a bit of a setback in production this year, due to a number of ongoing issues with some of my more mischievous staff members, and as such some toys won’t be ready in time for delivery on Christmas Eve. “I sent out the usual few million elves to monitor each child on my behalf to see who had been naughty and who had been nice. This is a job I used to do myself, but since those, er, allegations arose a couple of years, I have had to delegate.” Hurriedly, he continued, “But this year all two billion elves wanted to go, because apparently ‘it is a right laugh’ or some such, and before I could stop them they all legged it. “I’ve seen some photos of what they’ve been up to and honestly, I’m ashamed at their behaviour. I never imagined they could be capable of such depravity. I can only apologise for the delay in the delivery of some presents.” Elf Simon told us, “Maybe we spent a bit too much time mucking about in peoples’ lounges when we should have been making toys, but honestly can you blame us? We’re paid in nothing but candy, have no union representation and are only allowed one toilet break every five hours. “I’m thinking of transferring to a job in the Amazon warehouse. It’ll be the same crap working conditions but at least I won’t have to wear this daft outfit.”
