Microsoft unveils the Xbox Series X console, its next-generation Xbox, at The Game Awards

Dope. Seriously, like the design, appreciate the aim towards more of a PC aesthetic (since that's basically what it is), along with the controller adjustments. Lil skeptical on the 4x the power of the One X, but outside of that, just dope.7 points -

They really need a dedicated team set to update all the older Windows features and icons to be inline with the fluent design. I recently Installed Windows Server 2016 (updated) and the Smtp server brought me back to the Windows NT era (16 color dithered images).2 points -

TP-link to Asus Router
Mindovermaster reacted to The Dark Knight for a topic
As BudMan also says, just change the Network Address on the new ASUS router to match your old TP-Link. I also fail to understand what your confusion is! And in the future, don't set static addresses on individual devices, instead specify them in your Router itself. Far easier to manage and change them when done like this.1 point -

They really need a dedicated team set to update all the older Windows features and icons to be inline with the fluent design. They could do that, or they could just work on 10X which has a whole new shell and drops all of those old UI bits that are from Windows 95. I really think at some point the new 10X shell will become the default. Maybe in 5 years or maybe in 10, but it'll happen.1 point -
China plans to remove foreign computer equipment from government offices
MeWhoElse77 reacted to +Dick Montage for a topic
It wasn't called "racist" by anyone who has a shred of intelligence, understands what the word means, or even has anything of value to contribute. Except some reporters & people (inc people within China) went as far as calling governments (like Canada) and companies "White Supremacists" for actions regarding companies such as Huawei... that's a lot of unintelligent people by your words then... it's more like when people don't actually have any merits to debate on, they then fail over to screaming "racist!". Like I said... It wasn't called "racist" by anyone who has a shred of intelligence, understands what the word means, or even has anything of value to contribute.1 point -

I think it's more telling that they're calling it "Series". So the talk of a 2nd system seems even more likely now if you ask me. Expect the disc-less version called the Series S. And who knows what in the future. anyway looks like that maybe it's not the final name I don't know. People will always bring up the name to start, then they just roll with it and it is what it is.1 point -

How they gonna hit 6 mil... The people that could afford to try it already got theirs. Unless they drop some prices (like they do with all their other phones), there's no way I see them hitting selling another 6 mil in 2020. The best thing it has going for it are the specs. The notch is insane. The outer screen is hilarious. The hinge is still whack, despite the caps they added. What do? 🤷♂️1 point -
Realme's upcoming Buds Air to support Qi wireless charging
Geezy reacted to dead.cell for a topic
I'm confused... why they announcing this like there aren't any other wireless charging headphones out there? Not really a fan of knock offs. The whole point of competition is to do something different... Features can be the same, but if everything looks the same, there's no point... Many people aren't buying AirPods because of the way they look either, but rather because of how they function with the phone.1 point -
Microsoft unveils more new colorful icons, shows off new Windows 10 logo
alex_d2w reacted to cork1958 for a topic
Exactly my first thought. "Unfortunately, Microsoft didn't actually say when these new icons will be available. Hopefully they all come as one feature update for Windows 10" This is what constitutes a "feature" update? Could care less about what the icons look like anyway. Only look at it long enough to click it. I'd just as soon they stayed the same for familiarity reason.1 point -

Microsoft will still support the Office UWP apps on Windows 10 tablets in 2021
B V reacted to sharpdesigner for a topic
It most certainly is in its current form. Considering their bet with .Net Core and VS Code has picked up more and more interest of the Open Source Community, I don't think Microsoft will give any considerations to these alternative platforms anymore. They have added more and more of the standard .net features in to .net core including WPF and WinForms [in 3.0 release] and I think that's where their focus is. WPF is still Windows specific though Blazer is the next *let's see if it sticks* effort by Microsoft for cross platform mobile application development and it is being worked on pretty aggressively. UWP is changing, but instead of going away, Win32 is getting almost full access to UWP features, from the XAML UI to UWP devices interfaces. That's why I said its dead in its *current* form. May be, just may be they merge the three together [Win32, UWP, WPF] and call it "Universal Application Platform" aka UAP lol1 point -

garwin reacted to ThaCrip for a topic
On Windows this is my go-to video playback software (I was using The KMPlayer years ago before the dev switched to this) as the program is just nice and snappy and has GPU accelerated x264 video playback. it's the all around smoothest/snappiest video playback software as I never understood VLC's appeal as it's overall feel is inferior to PotPlayer. EDIT: I just noticed it says 'ad supported installation'. they must have screwed with this since the last I knew. but apparently one can avoid installing the BS during the install.1 point -

Tesla Model 3 on Autopilot crashes into two cars in Connecticut
THE END reacted to micro for a topic
They need to change the name from autopilot to something else. The majority of drivers hear autopilot and assume fully autonomous driving. I know two model 3 owners who abuse autopilot, one said exactly "I love the auto pilot because it allows me to quickly check my email or send a quick text". It is a false sense of security when used in that manor. Defending this is just silly. The technology isn't ready yet and shouldn't be beta tested on real people.1 point -
