Agreed. If this is a smokescreen because there is, truly, a late-developing technical problem; then, be honest and reveal it! There is already too much deceitful conduct amongst tech-related companies.

Major update to a fairly unique emulator. Seems reasonable to me. How many other Wii U emulators are there?

  7. W10 (1909) local account weird..

Using a MS account makes the most sense if you're like me and others who work on multiple systems. I have a work desktop, gaming desktop and a laptop for both work and personal use. So 3 devices, using a MSA allows all the syncing to take place that the OS offers, mostly settings and OneDrive which I've used since day 1 when it was still called Skydrive.

  8. SpaceX = We want to deliver results. Blue Origin = We want to deliver results. Virgin Galatic = We want to deliver results. Boeing = Well, it is about profit and costs and balance for the end of the year. It's not funny to see how old companies are eating themselves by trying to keep alive an old model that never worked. In this case, Boeing is a huge company composed of an insanely amount of bureaucracy, an SEO, VC, regional bosses, sub-bosses, sub-sub bosses and so on.

  9. Google adds achievements to Stadia, with some limitations

It's not so much it can't do it as in the long run it likely can but what incentive would Google or any other have in doing that as it would be mighty expensive to offer that level of quality, and we only have to look at how expensive games are on Stadia now whiles offering sub-standard gaming which is even worse than this gen of consoles.

When you were initially setting up your account did you perhaps make a typo "cosmi" and then go back and correct it. Because it looks like that's a possibility. If you do Windows+R and type lusermgr.msc, then go into Users, do you have two accounts displayed there?

  12. Meanwhile the recent Twitter "upgrade" took away the ability to store the draft of a tweet in a cookie. Earlier we didn't lose half-composed tweets if the tab was accidentally closed, navigated away from Twitter or crashed. Typical one step ahead, several steps backwards by Twitter. You'll be shocked how many people hated the "new Twitter experience" when it was rolled out. It still has many flaws and bugs.

  14. Boeing Starliner Orbital Flight Test (OFT)

This is why testing happens, folks. Likely to be a problem with the flight software ... I'd hate to think that it was because of insufficient dV and the spacecraft was attempting to correct the orbit itself ...

  15. Boeing Starliner Orbital Flight Test (OFT)

Well ... it wasn't too many months ago when a Crew Dragon blew itself up on a test stand. Not really sure of the significance of this failure ... like if it had been crewed could the mission still have been successful. I'm sure more information will be forthcoming and remedies put in place. With that said ... not entirely sure why Starliner exist (aside from appeasing a few lawmakers). Riding up on a Starliner will cost NASA more than hitching a ride on Soyuz (Per astronaut --- estimated $90M vs. the Soyuz $86M ... Crew Dragon is estimated to be $55M) [Source] But whatever.... ...don't even get me started on the cost of SLS. 🙄

  16. Google adds achievements to Stadia, with some limitations

As mentioned, people hate exclusives, and the concepts of streaming are hard for people to accept. People are just getting used to digital ownership (or "ownership", depending how critical you want to be). Buying a game from a streaming service is a challenging idea, since you own nothing in the process. I still don't fully sign on to video and music streaming, much less gaming. There are also debates about how much money is saved in the process - if you maintain your subscription, you'll easily outpace the cost of a console in a generation, and that kind of pricing can be predatory. The entire concept has been presented poorly. They promised 60 fps high quality, which isn't delivered. They promised mobile gaming, which is questionable when you're streaming several gigabytes of data a week on it with moderate usage. Plus, it is just really early in the development process. Most gamers don't think that the tech is there are Google has clearly released an early dev platform lacking most features (like achievements) they expect people to pay for the privilege of testing for them.

Primary workstation. Running off a Brix Pro. (i7 4770R, 16GB Ram 512 m.2 SSD) I'd love to build a new PC for it, but I just can't justify it. Other than the loud fan when the CPU is taxed, that's the only issue I have with it. It does everything I need.

  21. Google adds achievements to Stadia, with some limitations

The sooner this fails the better. Preferably leaving a crater sized loss of money so the idea doesn't come up for at least another 10 years. If this takes off it will be the end of perpetual game ownership and having the freedom to play when you want, how you want, and for however long you want. And preservation will be a thing of the past. So imagine Game A, A Stadia exclusive, is available for only 5 years. So 6 years later you have a hankering to play Game A. But you can't - all because the majority bought into Stadia and didn't care about the long term consequences of playing games in such a strict walled garden where content can be whisked away or heavily altered (censorship, removal of music to avoid paying further royalties, etc) without warning. So all you're left with to scratch that itch is watching old Twitch or YouTube playthrough videos. Compare that with some NES game you spent playing in your childhood. Now - over 3 decades later you can still play those in a myriad of ways because the content was stored on some media that could be copied and preserved. Preservation of games should not be yet another thing sacrificed at the altar of instant gratification and convenience. I hope this fails so spectacularly that it makes any investor laugh at the prospect of ever investing in another attempt again. Efforts should instead focus on things like Steam Link and similar - where the consumer has the local copy of the game data and streams it from a device that they are in control of and thus the consumer is the arbiter of content availability. The only thing that makes this possible end of days regarding preservation palatable is that I find the vast majority of AAA games to be garbage. And indie developers will likely still release things that you play locally (or stream from a device or server you control). This is one time I am glad the internet infrastructure in the U.S. is in such a horrid state that many people are still subject to data caps. That is a safeguard against this getting popular enough to make PC gaming and local play game consoles no longer profitable. With walled garden video and music streaming services preservation is still possible as the content can be captured -- usually bit for bit. But that isn't going to be possible with games that are exclusive to corporate-controlled server based streaming. Perhaps if they guaranteed to release a local copy of exclusive games once they are removed from their service it would be more acceptable. But I wouldn't trust any public traded corporation to adhere to such a promise.

Hello, I was looking at AMD's (Zen2 microarchitecture-based offerings because the price performance ratios on them are very compelling, but I was concerned about stability. It seems all the motherboard manufacturers are putting out a constant stream of AGESA updates, and while it is good they are rapidly fixing issues, the fact that they also introduce new ones. For me, stability and reliability come before performance, and while I did want to try something with higher performance than my now-previous system, I did not want to make any sacrifices when it comes to stability and reliability. Also, I know that all of the existing hardware works with Intel's CPUs and chipsets, as well as the software I use. There are some things Intel-based motherboards seem to be simply better at, like CPU-less BIOS (UEFI) firmware upgrades, and I had concerns about having to migrate virtual machines to recognize the new CPU architecture (it seemed like a lot of work for minimal trade-off in performance). The Intel Core i9-9820X was purchased from Micro Center for $350 plus tax. I also had to make a round-trip drive of about 140 miles, but I felt it was worth it for the discount (~60%). 24. Boeing Starliner Orbital Flight Test (OFT)

What surprised me most about this whole ordeal is how they were framing it so that this, depending on checking of some milestones still, might still qualify Starliner to proceed with its manned test flight rather than having to redo OFT because of the missed ISS rendezvous... Like... Wtf mate, how... If NASA had some stones they should just be like..let's try that again in a few months guys and girls...

  25. Tune in to watch the live broadcast of Boeing's Orbital Flight Test

Yes and no - a lot of things went right, and oddly enough, had there been crew on board, the issue would have been completely corrected and Starliner will still be going to the ISS. So it is good that the issue would not have put crew in danger.

  26. It is in orbit and scheduled to touchdown on Sunday. Software anomaly (apparently a clock issue) -- so the spacecraft wasn't firing at the correct times during orbital insertion. In other words ... the spacecraft wasn't lost ... it's just in the incorrect orbit. You must be fun at parties! Depends on how many beers I've had. Was "RIP" a joke ... thought maybe Peresvet hadn't read the article and assumed it was lost. I would have chucked at something like it was "Starliners time to fail ..." or "Boeing set the clock back on U.S. human space travel" ... or something more clever. RIP ... kinda weak.

  28. Boeing Starliner Orbital Flight Test (OFT)

Well, that didn't go well at all. Launch: OK After separation Starliner lost track of the mission elapsed time and began overcorrecting its position. Swung around like a tire swing in a tornado. Not helped by a comms problem with NASAs TDRS system, which delayed the ground controllers from taking over. The mission manager was arm waving like an angry Italian. Used up 25% of its propellants, and was in a low orbit which needed raising. It's not likely to go to ISS. They'll do what tests they can before trying to come down, landing at White Sands on Sunday. Charly Foxtrot.

  31. Write to W3C standards and there are no issues. Or at least ask the browser what features it supports before using something. Writing anything to any specific browser since 2010 is foolish and not necessary outside of very extreme cases. Sadly, too many developers think Chrome and Safari are the 'standards' to support, instead of real standards. 2000-2010 - Microsoft needs to stick closer to standards and stop implementing additional features. 2010-2019 - Microsoft is forcing standards, instead of supporting beta features and proposals from Google. They really can't win, and that is why they stopped.

A simple enough upgrade last night. The only thing that I've noticed is that it seems to have disabled my screen auto-rotation. I haven't tried folding it in to tablet mode yet. Neither is a big deal as I rarely use them, it's just nice to have. I'm betting I can find a solution online easy enough though, I'll have a look after work.

  35. They put more effort into that useless Phone app and than anything else. lol I know. Microsoft is running out of ideas with Windows 10. Just compared 1903/1909/ and the latest 20H1 build...very little new there, if anything new. Once you strip off all the bloatware junk from it...it is just Windows 7 behind ugly UI. Cortana, Game Mode, UWP, Edge and all other promises Microsoft made with Windows 10 *4 years ago failed. A business case they came up with to have Windows 10 is a complete failure therefore Windows 10 should be just another a relic of the past and replaced with actual decent Desktop OS which we didn't get from Microsoft since 2009.
