  1. "those who already own the classic original DOS-based games will get the updated versions for free" I have the floppies right here, how do I get it
    9 points
  2. They should kill it altogether. A platform that doesn't allow you to backup your stuff and force you to re-download everything at any misplaced backup restore, doesn't deserve to live.

  3. Floppies? I recall there only being one disk. 4 disks. 1 disk was only the shareware version.

  9. Not doing everything Samsung does would be a nice start for LG. And give phones OS updates. Keep the headphone jack and DisplayPort out and bring back a thin bezel and LED notification light. Get rid of the notch, curved display edges, pop-up cameras and punchholes in display. Don't sell overpriced devices. In other words, don't be Samsung, LG.

  12. What a joke of a process. Why not just allow users to enter the search engine if it's not on the list to begin with? There should be a other option that lets you punch in what you want. And how can they turn this around and make it an auction and get paid for it? Who the heck sees this as correct? Should get drawn right back into court.

  13. They missed the mark completely with the store. Should be more like a package manager. No one uses 'apps' in Windows.

  17. Or it's as simple as to use common sense(TM). For example, I am a pirate, so most of the sites that I visit are shady. But the average Joe doesn't need to visit those sites. The average joe lands on Yahoo.com and gets fed malware from an ad.

  24. Huawei selling 100K units of Mate X every month

Revenue reports will show ALL the revenue they made from ALL phones they sell. And Huawei sells a ton of different models. It would be impossible to pick out ONE particular model from revenue reports. Huawei's model lineup looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/cO2r8nE.jpg

Sorry to be that guy but they can say they sold whatever number of said device in China and no one will ever be able to fact check it. I really don't trust the figures that come out of Chinese companies let alone the government itself.

  27. "If you're worried that you're being charged for pre-existing creatures, fret not, as the games will receive updates that allow these Pokémon to be traded, so even if you don't pay for the DLC, you'll be able to get them. Plus, when Pokémon Home is available, you'll be able to transfer over your old creatures, including the ones added in the Expansion Pass."

  31. I think the article is incorrect. From the Bethesda page: But I already own DOOM and DOOM II on Bethesda.net! What happens to my existing installation? If you already own those games on Bethesda.net, you’ll see two new games in your library – DOOM Classic (2019 Release) and DOOM II (2019 Release). If you’re just buying them for the first time, you’ll receive both the original DOS-based release and our new Bethesda.net enhanced versions, which include the new Add-ons menu. So I think it's only owners of the re-released versions, not the originals. Shame, as I bought the originals a loooooong time ago. :)

  35. I've gone back to using the default Microsoft-provided driver and am happier for it. I'm fed up with the bloat that comes in these driver packages. Whilst I appreciate they're trying to enhance gaming, I don't need any streaming features bundled in, or hotkeys or overlays.

  36. I think that this is disgusting behaviour. The precedent was set with Microsoft offering a choice of browsers, these were shown randomly, but all were shown. Google... I don't understand how they get away with "auctioning" the choice. That stinks.

  43. Facebook has announced expanded user controls for political ads

I have a good idea. How about an option to see no ads at all? Ever? Seems like that would be a pretty solid fix for this "problem". Can't abuse it if it's not there.

  44. Facebook is actually a great platform for civil political discussion if moderated properly, but since moderation is non existent there, its better off not having any discussion in it at all. lol, with moderation = 90% of the content gone.

  47. Except it’s not more complicated. It’s less so for the average consumer, who has no idea what is newer: n, ac, or ax. WiFi-4=802.11n WiFi-5=802.11ac WiFi-6=802.11ax Your scenario will never come to pass. Will the average consumer be able to tell the difference between 6 and 6e? What makes you think they cannot? They can tell the difference between X, XR, and XS. *hands up* I honestly don't know that X series of iPhones. I would guess the iPhone X is the oldest. They start simple then go strange. Don't assume just because you know what's going on. You are right. X is the oldest so apparently it *can* be figured out. Are you going to sit there and tell me that the average consumer knows what is newer between 802.11n, ac, and ax? Of course not. Process of elimination. 6e is newer than 6 is newer than 5 is newer than 4. Sure, but I'm a fairly well educated nerd person who has seen articles about the iPhones (but hasn't read them) so I had a basic understanding. Many normal people do not. The new system is flawless until they start adding strange bits to it. What is the S and the R? Which one is is newer? But speaking on a phone I do know: The Google Pixels! Pixel 3a is newer than the Pixel 3, and therefore better right? RIGHT?!
