The one thing I love about the 2 probooks I have (that i got on ebay) is the service panel on the back. Push the tabs in to remove battery, then push the tabs in even farther and the back pops off giving you access to the hard drive and ram. It's about a 15 second job!

  9. Mouse and Keyboard Center has a long history of supporting non-Microsoft hardware as well - unlike most other (if not any other) such utility software than anyone else (I'm referring to YOU, Logitech!), it can use non-Microsoft hardware without a driver swap - except for this version (12). Still, I actually do have a Microsoft Wireless Keyboard I can swap in for my Amazon Basics wireless keyboard for testing purposes .

  11. BT partners with Google to offer free Stadia Premiere

Same here, I'm getting 43meg max, and it's not very good at all. Its barely good enough for the PS4 online service, I'd love to get a proper high speed connection. Better than me, I get around 36-37 depending on the weather, times of day, if anyone is sneezing close by I am fine with it to be honest, it does what I need, I was thinking of going with a 4G setup due to a few problems i have been having and 4G here is faster. The strange thing is, my whole network went belly up a few days back, i mean internal, for some reason the router reset and that nothing connected. after about a hour or so trying to sort it out and still not sure what caused the problem, I decided to connect my router directly up to the VDSL as it would nto work before due to the fualt i have, only my old BT open reach Huawie modem would connect, anyway somehow the router synced and is still going. so maybe BTOR have done some work on the cabinet and it sorted out the problem. i am keeping the old modem set up just in case, but if all stays well over the next week or so I will put it back in it's box in storage. Nightmare! My Plusnet router was rubbish, a friend of mine is having the same issue so I went back to my BT router (I think it's whatever was the latest) as I was having issues connecting on the Plusnet to 5ghz, it was just lagging out connections which isnt acceptable. After reading this I got a bit of the itch, checked out Plusnet's website and refreshed my contract with the Fibre Plus option, which should give me 50-70, for about 8 quid's difference so hoping it makes a nice difference tomorrow. Its just pure greed really, I didnt need it, but it will help when downloading lots of porn free software. It was not the problem with the router, I had a older style plusnet router type thing to start with that had to use a BT orpen reach modem, the modem i had was ECI or something like that and the problems started about 3 years back or so when I lost the landline, it all went, no dial tone nothing. it was fixed but my modem would not connect, plusnet said there was no problem there side,, so i thought maybe my old modem had given up, so i borrowed my neighbours old huawie one and it worked. i put my modem on my neighbours broadband and it worked on theirs. so i got myself a second hand huawie modem from Ebay and I carried on like that for a while until plusnet decided to send me a all in one BT home hub style thing, connected it and it did not work. so i phoned plusnet and that is when they got BT openreach involved and over a few weeks they done tests, they came out look at the cables, went to the cabinet and they was so confused. Their own equipment would not sync from my house and it would not sync at the cabinet, they more or less gave up saying i should stay as i was with using the old Huawie modem connected via Wlan to my router. anyway. plusnet on hearing this decided to send me a new posh Zyxel all in one and it worked, for a month and then I had to go back to using my old modem, but connected it to the Zyxel via WLan as the Zyxel is a good router. I gave it a try now and again and it would sync for a couple of mins and then disconnect until now, seems to be holding the sync. Maybe they had to sort out some things at the cabinet and it solved my problem,. The normal router plusnet gives out is a modified version of the home hub 6 I think, it don't have the silly smart connect stuff that BT routers have, which is not a bad thing, i have disabled that in every BT router I have set up as it is such a pain to use. if you live close to the cabinet you should get the speed you want, but if not then you will find there is no difference, hopefully plusnet have given you the option to go back to the lower priced option if you do not notice a difference. i have to make up my mind what I am doing, I am now out of contract with plusnet and it is costing me more, but I am not sure if I want to stay with plusnet, I have been looking at uno, they are £28 as month, which is around the same price as plusnet if I recontract. the thing is i have a plusnet sim as well, i can stay with plusnet for mobile if i want to, but i would lose 1GB of data on my mobile doing so. I was going to have a look around while off work, but never got around to it. with uno you can go onto their higher package anmd if it do not suit you can downgrade., not that it is any good me doing that as i know I will not get any faster, i am just too far away from the cabinet. i may have a peak this afternoon and see what is around. But got to do house work now. i know people will think it is strange that I do nto like BT and yet go with plusnet for broadband, whihc is owned by BT, but it is like chalk and cheese. phone BT for help and you may as well be standing in the middle of india asking for directions, because they can not understand me and I can't understand them, plus they go over the same thing, like a script, even if i told them i done what they want me to do. plusnet while not perfect, they do at least listen and if i tell them i done what they want me to do, then they go onto the next part, I know they have a script as well, but they do not stick to it so much. They are also UK based call centre, sure it is in Yorkshire and sometimes their accents are a bit difficult to understand, i am in the West midlands, only just. closer to Wales to be honest. right, i must go and do some housework.

  15. Here's what's fixed, improved, and still broken in Windows 10 build 19546

Would you like to work together sometime to try to solve it? Grampapa Oldguru cant be helped. He's an idiot at computers This idiot makes quarter a million as a software developer which makes you fully qualified retard...no hard feelings You say you make money making software but I don't believe you because you suck so much at computers. I instead think you are an attention seeking little bitch that can hardly figure out how to turn on your computer. Dude, what are you doing? Don’t let this guy get under your skin. We all know he is posing, but the meltdown you are having over him with direct personal attacks is what he wants and gets you banned while he continues doing his thing. Just chuckle to yourself when he comments and move on lest he wins in the end. I never personally attack anyone. I agree with you there. The whole point of my post was cynical about new fast ring release where Microsoft did not even properly finished 20H1 build. I am sure some machines will upgrade fine, and some not but the amount of problems Windows 10 has tells me how much MS. cares about it. Again, if that is their new standard so be it. Btw. I am not posing. Why are you complaining about "I tried 20H1 to install on three different machines so far, every time it fails...what a junk." when you also say "First of all I know why it is failing on all three machines" ?? Do you not realize how unhelpful and baiting your replies are? I gave you the benefit of the doubt, and offered to help. Because I thought you had a problem that needed to be solved, and I genuinely wanted to resolve it. I tried to be helpful to support the community. But now it appears you already have the solution, and are just posting trash on new build announcements that aren't even related to your problem! Maybe you have some other sort of problem, and might need some professional help that I don't have the expertise to offer. In short, can you please try to keep your comments on-topic, relevant, and non-trolling? If you care about the community, you'll see why it's important. Thank you. Oh, and also please be sure to use the Feedback Hub to report problems that you are having, especially if you also have solutions to them. Microsoft may not yet have the solutions, and you may have an opportunity to help the community!

  17. BT partners with Google to offer free Stadia Premiere

...and this is how Google becomes successful, instead of making a good product. Reminds me of Fox News. They paid cable companies to carry their network for several years,(Usually cable companies have to 'buy' channels.) They also paid businesses like truck stops and bars and restaurants to play Fox News (still do). Fox News is now popular, but not because it was ever 'balanced' or 'good'. (If you are willing to give away something in exchange for something better. i.e. Lose money. Then it is easy to create proliferation.) Several years ago, a team I working with had used a marketing group that had tried to sell Microsoft on an idea to do something along these lines with the XBox. Microsoft considered it to be unethical and stopped working with the group.

  20. Ok but being environmentally-friendly isn't just about carbon emissions! I'd like to hear them talk about taking responsibility for the entire lifecycle of the devices they sell, designing specifically for repairability and longevity, etc. That would require making real, serious changes that I doubt MS wants to make. It seems like they were already on the path to reducing their carbon emissions anyway so this announcement seems like corporate virtue signalling more than any kind of serious change. But also, at the end of the day, we can't rely on individual businesses to decide to be environmentally-friendly. Microsoft is one of the most valuable companies in the world so of course it can afford to do things like this, even if it was just for the positive PR that they get out of it. Real change has to come from the government and apply to everyone.

  21. Climate change is fake news! That's not the basis of my comment, but I could waste both of our time down that endless road... it's moreso that any statements made by a company about their promises for 30 years into the future are essentially lipservice / cheap PR. It's the same line politicians often throw: "we'll save X money and boost the economy by Y over the next 10 years". Yeah, no you won't, (and it's not feasible) It’s not like politicians promised something. They laid out plans and committed to bring renewable energy Sources to data centers as they already started to do so. Besides, I believe it’s a promise that will be followed through because of publicity and great PR it brings. Companies like Microsoft constantly rely on public opinion unlike politicians that can do whatever they want and get away with it

  22. Nokia 7.2 review: A $299 phone that's better than a Moto G7

You could have saved face and credibility by doing a 5 second Google search on HMD. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMD_Global" rel="external nofollow">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMD_Global Need no face I own a 8, so know exactly what HMD is, and how they suck with this 7.2. The only problem is that you literally cannot find anything else on the market with the following criteria: - must have jack connector for headphone - must have physical fingerprint reader - should be Android One or at least the smallest number of preinstalled minimal-crap Not many apart from this 7.2 was listed as possible candidate. Thats why I am ###### off to HMD, the build quality is crap to my 8, and bought both of them at very similar price. Woosh.

  25. Opinion vs Science. The science is clear though. I would argue that the reason companies like this are jumping on board is precisely BECAUSE of government pressure. Maybe not America, or sadly Australian governments, however much of Europe, Asia (surprisingly) and many others are actively putting good environmental policy in place. America, Australia and others are so behind the times its embarrassing. This is why companies are not investing in these countries, because the policy isn't clear, and does not allow everyone to be on the same playing field. Props to MS for taking this on!

Technically a dual bios, with the backup bios being locked. I agree this isn't a big thing as there were dual bios solutions 30 years ago. However, in the consumer space, dual and backup bios technologies are once again 'new' and being on a mobile device is also not as common now, even if it also isn't new.

HMD is Finnish; its manufacturing partner FIH (foxconn) is Taiwanese. Nokia didn't do anything. Microsoft sold its mobile phone division (which it had bought from nokia) to HMD, and the factories to FIH.

  36. Nokia 7.2 review: A $299 phone that's better than a Moto G7

    1) Overpriced as hell 2) unnecessary large ram and storage. The 4gb/64gb version is cheaper, and nowhere to be in stock. 3) The fingerprint reader is lowcost chinese crap quality, compared to a Nexus5x I bought it for a relative because of the androidone (which it turned out to be a pure 100% american-way scam BS, not guarantees anything like stable and well tested updates), physical fingerprint reader on the back (which turned out to be complete P.O.S), and audio jack connector. All in all, does not worth the price. Lets see how long the software updates survive. Rest in peace Nokia, you sold your established brand name and quality to this noname chinese crap-producer HMD at an unreasonably cheap price.

  38. Crew Dragon: In-Flight Abort test flight

I completely agree but NASA made the certification process so expensive, requiring several orbital test launches and reentries, SpaceX decided to put those funds into Starship. Background, When SpaceX proposed propulsive landings in the 2011 concept video NASA never thought SpaceX would follow through. Next thing NASA knows Crew Dragon is doing hover tests & landing boosters and it's "OH, S**T! They're actually going to do it!!." In comes the expensive test program to "discourage" SpaceX from using propulsive in Commercial Crew. NASA got the desired result, but now SpaceX is far more willing to develop Starship and future vehicles without NASA strings. They'll do like Falcon Heavy; develop it, fly it publicly with a big splash - gathering tons of telemetry, then slap it on the table and take orders.
