  1. Windows 7 has one more update in store for everyone

When a truly viable replacement becomes available. Windows-10 is not that replacement, yet.

  2. So, then what? Something did it's supposed to and was expected to do. What's newsworthy about this? Also, how many times did a similar warning get out without the situating ending up similarly severe? Like if I'm predicting a terrorist attack every week, I'll be right sooner or later, right? Actually, I will be likely correct every single week - I just have to define my warning broad enough. And no AI is needed for that, even though I'm considering mentioning "blockchain" in the description of my technology, because that's also a popular buzzword these days.

  4. Doom Eternal won't feature microtransactions

Good for id software. People should just abandon all the developers which even think of micro-transactions, where is the unity! Not sure why government does not intervene for the company like super-cell. Super-cell is the worst company I have ever seen in practice, they make deals with youtubers, which keeps on showing new things like skins, models (without any mention of contact with the company), which leads kids to believe that they should also keep buying stuff, not to mention they never even give clear mention of what you will get for your money, as it's always a draw system.

It's sad that the gaming industry has stooped so low that this type of thing is now news-worthy.

  16. iOS 13 dropped support for iPhone 6 a year before the typical pattern. Keeping the iPhone 6S is just restoring what was the support cycle until last year. No, iPhone 5S receiving iOS 12 was an aberration. iOS 13 dropping support for iPhone 6 was the usual way if you look at all past versions of iOS.

  25. is android 8 (oreo) or android 9 (pie) outdated?

What part of, “in terms of that”, was I unclear about? Is it the latest? No. Is it outdated in terms of the latest? Yes. As for the developer comment, what? That’s literally rewording what I said.

Also, (new) Microsoft Edge supports Windows 7. Most people aren't smart enough to go find and install it. Plus other apps could envoke the vulnerable dll file.

If by best you mean most polished and refined, then yes, I agree. You can't really call it technically the best when there is a huge number of features it is missing that newer systems have. Like what's missing in Windows 7 that Windows 10 has besides junk called DX12?

  31. Windows 7 has one more update in store for everyone

Windows 10 is basically Windows 7 with unusable UI on top of it. Since business model for Windows 10 failed, PWA, UWP, Store...it comes down to being just another flavor of Windows 7 with horrible UI and other spyware baked into it. I know that Microsoft said Windows 10 is the last version of Windows, and I believe that is one stupid claim. I would like to see Microsoft separating themselves from the disaster called Windows 10 and work toward a new OS. Windows 10 is pretty old too at this point, 5+ years old and it got somewhat stable after so many updates. I wonder what will Microsoft do about 400+ million of people running Windows 7, probably they will lose all of those customers to Mac OS and Linux. Microsoft hit the dead end with Windows 10, with 1909 and 2004 (currently running) very little separates them from 1903 in other words MS. got nothing for it. I'd say they should call Windows 10 feature complete and focus on a new OS, which is a great opportunity to get rid of cancer called UWP, and the current UI, telemetry and all other spyware bloatware. Microsoft wants the light, fast OS...how about revisiting Windows 2000 where entire installation is 200-300Mb and had very little foot print on system resource. Windows 2000 Professional is the best Desktop OS ever created, period. While doing that, MS should completely remove bloatware crap called .NET and anything associated with. Don't get me wrong, I make for living as .NET developer but if I had to be honest...it is pure garbage.

  32. Nintendo will soon stop servicing the original Wii model

I don't think HDMI was very widespread in 2006 and most people still had older TVs. As far as using it on modern TVs there are all sorts of HDMI cables and converters for the Wii now.

  33. Nintendo will soon stop servicing the original Wii model

Great system for the time. My only complaint was no HDMI output. I realize it wasn't an HD system, but would still have loved a digital output. As the system has aged, finding TVs with inputs that support it becomes harder and harder.

  35. This has been their MO for a while on iPhones. Ever sense they started designing their own chips, they have typically supported them for a very long time. Kind of a necessity considering their strategy of selling older phones at a discount instead of making low-end models. It would be pretty crummy if they dropped support for the iPhone 7 considering they still made them up until about 4 months ago.

  39. is android 8 (oreo) or android 9 (pie) outdated?

It’s not the latest, so in terms of that, yes. If you find an app that doesn’t run on them due to age, junk the app because they developer is trash.

  40. This is my question as well. Fair use should not be effected by this law if it already exists as a law. My issue is that laws like this prohibit innovation. Think about if this law was applied to hardware. If Apple was the first to come out with a 30:1 screen, and then Samsung did the same thing, Apple could sue and automatically win. Nowadays, companies do copy off each other, but innovate on top of that. Yes, you can argue that they don't innovate, but that's a topic for another day

  41. If someone wants to monetise their "reviews and reactions" then they should be paying for a license to use the content. If you want to show a clip of copyrighted content on a TV/radio show you have to pay money for a licence, why should it be different on the internet? There's already laws in place for fair use, they limit the clips length etc specifically for reviews, reactions and other things like comedy skits etc. This has been the norm for quite some time. To come and change it out of the blue now to the effect that even a simple meme that is just a still image from a movie is banned? Come on. And that aside, my stance on the length of copyrights for media, movies/music is way too long. In the US mostly thanks to disney so they don't lose Micky Mouse to the public domain, so they've spent loads of money to get govs to extend the time limits.

  47. It's quite a leap from your neighbours seeing when you pull into your driveway and an anonymous visit to a store (assuming the stores you go to don't have facial recognition systems). This is real-time ID tracking around a city. And? Unless I'm in some sort of fascist regimen that only allows me to go specific places, what do I care? And no, retail stores have been called out for tracking consumers via video feed, and tying PII to track them and their purchasing habits, and as of yet I haven't had any ill effects of said tracking. Also the point of nest and ring, those videos can be used as evidence already. Not to mention police have attempted to survey neighborhoods for doorbell cam footage to follow a persons movement after committing a crime. This type of infrastructure has already been in place for the police to use... the only difference is now they have their own cameras and don't need to go house to house obtaining video evidence. Except that you don't need a fascist regimen to have your privacy invaded. Just think of all the garbage people you've met, managers, police maybe, politicians, military, and so on that have abused their power. Even people at these companies like Amazon's Ring have already proven how poorly this all can be misused. https://nypost.com/2019/01/11/...e-been-spying-on-customers/ There is plenty of room for this stuff to be abused and I don't see a point in advocating for it, when criminals largely try to not identify themselves anyway as another member pointed out. All it means is that regular people who aren't masking themselves will be tracked.
