anyone else sick of 5G yet?... All this controversy about who makes what, all the over hyping... Heck verizon how is running an ad saying how 5G helps firefighters.. and they basically show a FLIR image with edge finding mode turned on... how is that 5G? They can do that now with a FLIR camera in the field... heck even with 5G you'd still need the FLIR Lepton sensors in field to see what they implemented 5G can do.. so much over hyping, so much over promising... especially with the whole 5G will be your home internet connection stuff... yep I want a signal that isn't always there depending on conditions and what frequency range they used and more then likely charge per the gig also on a shared bandwidth network in my house to replace my copper / fiber line...4 points -

domboy and 2 others reacted to sphbecker for a topic
If by best you mean most polished and refined, then yes, I agree. You can't really call it technically the best when there is a huge number of features it is missing that newer systems have. Like what's missing in Windows 7 that Windows 10 has besides junk called DX12? DX12 is important for gamers, maybe you don't care, but some do Modern hardware support (Windows 7 doesn't take full advantage of modern CPUs, also some of the newest motherboards don't even include Win7 drivers). Lots of minor but impactful enhancements to Windows File Explorer Windows 10 has much better duel monitor support. Much better support for high-res monitors that require scaling. Might seem silly, but the admin-menu by right-clicking start is insanely useful. Metered network settings so you don't accidentally blowup your hotspot data-plan downloading updates. Built-in SSH client/server (not a big deal for most, but as a nerd, I love it) Support for MS accounts (not forced to used them if you don't like them, but when you have 6 computers and 4 kids, its a must have) Nearly instant sleep/wake on laptops Touch-screen support Much easier to use on-screen controls for turning WiFi and cellular interfaces on/off, and automatic switching between them and Ethernet so you are always using the best possible connection Far from a complete list, but that is what I thought of off the top of my head.3 points -

Good for id software. People should just abandon all the developers which even think of micro-transactions, where is the unity! Not sure why government does not intervene for the company like super-cell. Super-cell is the worst company I have ever seen in practice, they make deals with youtubers, which keeps on showing new things like skins, models (without any mention of contact with the company), which leads kids to believe that they should also keep buying stuff, not to mention they never even give clear mention of what you will get for your money, as it's always a draw system.3 points -

Google starts charging law enforcement agencies for data requests
dead.cell and one other reacted to Brandon H for a topic
That’s exactly how it works. Go try getting FOIA documents for free, especially ones that require considerable digging to acquire. I don't think you understand what law enforcement is. That's like cops come up to your door with a search warrant, and you say "alright officer, that'll be $100". unfortunately that's not the same; that's an individual vs a business. they have different protections. it's not so much the request for information but the time and resources needed to provide the requested info. Tell how different it is to Bitconnect lol. If it's that hard to search, then provide the Police an interface to do the search themselves. now you're just going into circular logic. There are several reasons FBI/Government shouldn't be allowed free at will access to encrypted systems ....2 points -

Nintendo will soon stop servicing the original Wii model
waysidesc reacted to Brandon H for a topic
Mario Kart stopped being good once they added a million drivers, different kart types and parts, and transformations. It's overcomplicated. The tracks are weird too, some parts of the track have no discernable border, it lacks the approach that would allow the player to master the course. Mario Kart DS was a great return to form, but after that it never recaptured the magic. when did this happen (which game started the downward slide)? hope it was ok to add iggy (despite million drivers). iggy koopa. Double Dash was not acclaimed because of the 2 drivers, but the, Wii and 3DS versions were where it really started going bad and they started messing with the vehicles. That's a matter of opinion. I love MK8 and the customizations you can do with different car parts the graphics are beautiful but it does not seem there is a lot of diversity in regard to customizations (statistic-wise). i do dislike...how they kind of use it as an advertising platform... but there is iggy koopa!! did you like mkdd? I never got to experience much of dd; did mostly single player games on my GC. I got back into MK with the Wii due to being the family console and Online play.1 point -

Windows 7 has one more update in store for everyone
sn0wf1ake1 reacted to sphbecker for a topic
Windows 7 is basically Vista with a more refined UI on top of it. In the history of Windows NT based systems, the only big updates were NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and Window Vista. Everything else was just a face-lift. Windows 10's UI works just fine. Just because you don't care for it doesn't make it unusable. That is an insanely arrogant point of view...and one that is demonstrably wrong considering that absolutely huge number of people using it just fine everyday of their life. Windows 10 UI is a junk and if you like it that's fine, most people don't which says MS. failed there. Again...maybe you don't like it, maybe your friends don't like it, but you are not in a position to say that "most people" don't like it. The reality is that most people don't care as long as it doesn't get in their way. Run the software you want, I don't have a problem with you choosing something different than me. You can keep running Windows 7 for the next 10 years if you want, just don't complain when more and more companies drop support for it. That will happen; you know what you are signing up for when you run EOL software. As far as dropping 32-bit bit support. MS had hinted that Windows 8 would be the last OS to include a 32-bit variant, however, after all the bad press they got from Windows 8, they backed away from that idea and clearly Windows 10 still has a 32-bit variant. If you are talking about the 64-bit OS being able to run 32-bit software using WOW64, that will probably never be removed, at least not for decades (not exaggerating). One of the biggest selling points Windows has is its ability to run the vast amount of legacy software out there. If they took that away, it would push a lot of businesses to Linux or alternative devices like iPads or thinclients.1 point -

That’s called slave labor. so you arent able to cite the specific law you mentioned? The 13th amendment is what you're looking for, as cited back when Apple refused to comply with law enforcement to build a backdoor within their OS just for the FBI. Basically, "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."1 point -

I see what you're saying, but there's always going to be a split in regards to this. I personally wasn't the biggest fan of the OST for TL1, but the TL2 one I liked quite a bit, especially that for Zeryphesh. Hob was also very good as far as I'm concerned, and that was still Uelmen. This one in particular https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57_rsNGiUiE is fantastic. I think the best approximation of why people want him to still be involved isn't so much to do with the soundtrack itself, but the atmosphere it manages to create. Having played through D3 (and its expansion) and TL2, I much preferred TL2. No, it couldn't touch D3 in terms of sheer visuals, but I had a much better time with it. The soundtrack was a very big part of that.1 point -

At this point does anything Google do surprise people? From messing with their sites so they don't play well with other browsers, to all the search bs to boost their ad heavy bottom line and so on. At this point it's clear, they'll do anything on the down low and sit back to see if enough people notice and react to it, then change it, for now. Watch them do something like this again down the line, or something close to it so that they can keep that ad revenue coming in.1 point -
