  7. Star Trek: Picard (CBS All Access)

Starfleet looks like utter garbage right now. I’ve never really liked them, but wow, the degradation they have suffered (regardless of current conspiracy) really paints them as bad guys in this series. Thinking they have the power to end a species and justify it? No wonder Picard left. Definitely some major prime directive violations happening. We had warning signs of this in TNG when Picard could of used Hugh to end the Borg, and he got called out by starfleet in a later episode for not doing it. Not to mention s31 trying to wipe out the Founders, granted a war was occurring. This degradation has been happening for far longer than only after Nemesis. Loving this series so far. Episode 2 ended so abruptly, really wish episode 3 was available lol. I do wish we could see some fresh starfleet starship designs. We saw some weird ones orbiting Mars this episode, but those looked more like construction vessels. I also hope they fill in more of what happened to the Enterprise E, as well as new vessel we saw him command in the comics. I am interested to see if this conspiracy results in the pulling out of member species in the federation, as been alluded to in Discovery/31st century.

  8. UWP is dead, period and this shutting down is the reason for it

  9. Told you so. At some point in the past some idiot thought that PC needs store for apps. The only reason store was ever created for iPhone and later for Android Phones is due the nature of device itself and store made sense to do app deployment to such devices. Anything past that, as I said you have to be an idiot to think it is a good thing. I was saying this on first day Windows 10 was released, 5 years ago if I am not mistaked, and said that UWP and Store is Dead on Arrival Platform. And here we are...and for all those calling me names and saying I am stupid and this or that...oh well. The only thing which ever made sense on Windows is Win32/Win64 applications. I hope Microsoft kills 32bit flavor of Windows for good. Store, UWP Apps -> will all be removed from Windows. After that UI is next big thing Microsoft is going to redo. And then maybe they can reshape Windows to what truly Windows 7 successor should have been from day 1.

Aren’t you the guy who complains about Windows 10 lacking refinement and rushing releases out? If anything 20H1 would be your ideal release. Not to mention there are still active rings in progress for 20H1.

  13. Ya, it maybe is a bit over done, with priorities shifting internally at MS. However, they could be really sad, and provide an outdated UI and keep dragging it along, like Sony does.

  15. That's fine, if they feel like they can make due on their own and build up their own app store or flat out OS, go for it.

  16. Exactly. Other services who will cooperate with the law on criminal activities That makes it sound like ProtonMail doesn't cooperate with law enforcement. Which is false. They cooperate all the time. But they can't cooperate for things that are out of their control, like encrypted e-mail messages. And if they do like Tutanota has, by intercepting messages that are not end to end encrypted prior to encrypted storage, then they can pretty much just close the service as it has no substance anymore. Also, thinking if everything is encrypted, it shouldn't exist coz muh terrorism/pedophiles/insert an excuse. Bad people will find a way to do their bad things. I, as a private law abiding citizen sure as ###### don't want my messages being monitored by anyone. If they believe I'm doing something illegal, find some other ######ing way. Which is how they get info on actual criminals, they just want to make it absurdly easy by just blatantly banning entire services...

  17. The 2X had a new OS version, if you will, WCOS, it had a new UI and so on. Businesses in their typical snail pace and reluctance to change software their workers know how to use already, probably didn't want that. Like it says, they wanted the 2S but with a few specific things. That would make the 2X not needed at this time. The Hub is a very specific device for a specific business/education market. If that market isn't in a rush to buy a 2X 2020 model and are perfectly fine with the 2019 2S and just want some teams updates, then why force it to market?

TBH, I think (hope) that we WILL see Q, but not until Picard finally reaches his end and the Irumotic Syndrome takes him. It truly would be fitting if Q took Picard away to the Continiuum or something like that.

  21. Microsoft is shutting down its Ad Monetization platform for UWP apps

I might have missed it, but where in the article does it state that Microsoft is shutting down the Store?
    1 point
  22. I think you've not understood the article at all. The Microsoft Store is not closing down They will close it, they are already removing Store app from Windows for certain SKUs. It is coming. I doubt it will close, yes it may change from it's current form, but certainly won't close it UWP was boasted because you could develop for windows 10 mobile, windows 10 PC and xbox. W10M is dead, I haven't ever seen anything notable come from the xbox side so that just leaves the desktop version of windows. My experience of the MS store is it's full of crap, a lot of it. The store itself is awful, full of bugs and unreliable operation. Not saying they're going to scrap it but it is undoutably one of the least useful parts of windows 10. I just opened the store and it opened with a 'check your internet connection', I've had internet since I powered my laptop on hours ago, clicked refresh and it loaded, yet another bug... I then searched for the company I work for, it shows games and movies first, which is odd considering I searched for the company name - why doesn't it show any exact matches first? At the bottom are 3 applications, my company's application is last, the first two are some VR thing and a bible? The word is unique to my company. Honestly the worst store application I've ever used.

I'd have to agree, however we've had those ethical subroutines deleted before, the doctor also has grown as an individual and also has the ability to modify his subroutines. He's also aligned himself with enemies before, assisted in abduction of Torres, while severely damaging Voyager, intentionally sickened someone when he was kidnapped, etc... I'm just saying it wouldn't be impossible, albeit highly unlikely.

  25. Star Trek: Picard (CBS All Access)

I fully expect this to turn out to be the answer. CBS's writers just ain't subtle... If it was Maddox, then he's truly lost his mind to have killed so many just because his synths ended up as slaves, as predicted by Picard. This much is obvious. The Doctor can do no harm, it's in his core programming.

  26. Star Trek: Picard (CBS All Access)

I hope they weren't hacked by the secret section of the Tal Shiar (I'm not even going to attempt to spell it without looking at the closed caption), who apparently has hated synths and that hate being a bedrock of their org. It'd be predictable if they were ultimately the one behind the Mars attack in an attempt to end sentient synth development. The most obvious answer to me is Maddox flipped a switch on them. I have a feeling data's daughters didn't just happen upon Daystrom and a Borg Cube by chance, Maddox sent them there for tech recon and gathering I feel. Granted the synths on mars were treated like slaves/badly. I also remember the VOY episode that revolved around the photons be free concept, and how it spread to the other EMHs that were reprogrammed to be salves in dilithium mines, wonder if Zimmerman or the Doc had something to do with it, although that'd be a shocking twist. Doc has gone rogue before with the Hirogen holograms.

  27. Microsoft is shutting down its Ad Monetization platform for UWP apps

Without Windows Mobile, UWP is a pointless platform. The goal was to have a unified system for developers to build apps that would run on any Windows device, regardless of format. The UWP UI toolkit is still pretty basic compared to the wealth of WinForms & WPF control available on the market, so developers had to take a step backwards when designing their interfaces. Without mobile devices - since DUO runs Android, it doesn't count and NEO will still run Win32 applications - there is no incentive to use UWP aside from Store distribution. NEO is designed for UWP, but that won't revive it as a platform of choice. If Windows Mobile survived and was viable, then sure, UWP makes sense, but in the current environment, I think more developers will give up on it and go back to traditional desktop application toolkits.

  30. Good for them, it's always good to have options that don't put you at the whims of American economic terrorism. In fact in general I'm finding the irony so amusing of the Americans getting paranoid at the thought that Huawei are doing to them what they've done to countries all over the world, for decades.

I wonder if people who seem to experience significant issues on Windows are using tools like these? I do find on forums that people seem to have real problems with Windows but it then turns out they're running programs like these and "tweaking" things which should be left well alone.

  35. If true, this could be the end of the Surface Book. Since this product targets designers, it would be a catastrophe without RTX and the acceleration it provides in software. In things like Blender or C4D - the performance difference is on average 3x faster than traditional OpenCL or CUDA. Most designer level software is leaning into DXR and Optix, especially in professional spaces.

  40. The word you're looking for is underpowered. Xbox One or PS4 are way more uninspired as they just follow the classic console model, while the convertible Switch is brought some innovation to the market. Try using an XBox on a battery... The Switch isn't made to have the greatest hardware. It is portable...
