W10 could sure do with some design sense whats wrong with the windows 10 UI? It looks great with true color, monochromatic, and single color icons... along with flat windows that have no color, but have a color title bar if you want and may or may not have a icon on the left... and multiple context menu styles makes it easier to tell where they did and did not upgrade... and the mix of old and new property windows is amazing... oh and that universal app design of the control panel... amazing, having half the functionality but taking up 3x the space is a great design. that's obvisouly sarcasim... but besides the obvious design issues... windows 10 for me at least works great, I just wish we would pick one darn UI that isn't monochromatic... metro style was horrible and still is horrible... we need depth and color3 points -

This is adorable on every front, from the article to the comments. If there's one thing to be sure of about the future of gaming, it's that it's all a total toss-up right now. Technologically, it's absolutely boring to keep making the same 10 foot gaming experiences and letting the resolution/framerate obsession leak into the console world. Once there's nothing to talk about beyond pushing pixels, the field is stagnant and at risk of radical disruption. It's just a question of who and how. At the very least, gamers want to be pandered to. Anything that makes it look like a gaming product isn't 100% about them and the way they want to game will be rejected emotionally. But the way gamers want to game right now is boring. Gaming as it is today is at risk of having all of its direction taken over by esports, which would be devastating to its future. Nothing slows down creativity like structure. Turning game studios into B2B (selling to leagues) rather than B2C (selling to consumers) companies could be significant enough that it would once and for all turn mobile gaming into the primary market and you'd see something horrifying happen -- like Apple magically becoming the number one gaming platform in the US. Between Apple Arcade and the inevitability of them "inventing" mixed reality soon, they're weirdly positioned to disrupt in a way the framerate-obsessed and cloud-obsessed businesses (like MS apparently) never could.3 points -

It means Windows is going to look even worse and work even worse as his primary focus are devices no one cares about. Linux will be OS we will be all running on our gaming and generally speaking desktop computers. This is not like someone said 30 years ago the same. This is pretty factual. Modern Linux has no problems running any latest games, f. some runs better through WINE than Windows natively. As far as Software goes, that is not a problem for years now. There is no better satisfaction than running Windows in Virtual Box under Linux.2 points -

Years ago, around the turn of the millennium, a mate asked me to build a computer for her. She wanted it pink... And so I did; got a nice translucent case and painted it pink inside with LEDs, pink accessories and removed the monitor bezel to paint that also. Did a damned decent job too. So I drive it over to hers and we carry the parts into the house, up the stairs into her pink bedroom and sweet lord... EVERYTHING was pink, various shades but all pink. It literally hurt my eyes and was a bit disorienting with the light shining through her pink blinds!2 points -

CPU Fan error
goretsky reacted to Hisham.Adel for a topic
Finally, problem solved. The problem was the cooler's fan, it was not rotating freely when I spin it compared to the fans of the case for example. So I've replaced that failed fan with one of the two case fan's and it works well. I faced an small issue with it today as it was rotating at nearly 5xx rpm while on "Silent" mode and got the same error, so I simply lowered the minimum speed limit to 500. Also, my back panel fan was having that CPU Fan error, this was due to putting that fan on control a.k.a. user control, so I disabled the control and made it automatic up to the system from the BIOS. Thanks all of you for helping me out, it's greatly appreciated. Have a nice day1 point -

Costs need to come down still for FCEV, While the FC engines and cars are better the cost on building the fueling stations is still high from what I've read. It's way cheaper and easier to build electric stations in comparison. Yup. OTOH Teslas aren't sold on the basis that they're cheap. They're sold as the green alternative to ICE. That's true, either way we do need newer and better battery tech, in general, not just for cars. Fuel Cell could very well be the future once the price is down enough, and really how hard would it be to swap the current BEV setup in a tesla and go FC?1 point -

Microsoft's Phil Spencer dismisses Nintendo and Sony, sees Google and Amazon as rivals
matthiew reacted to indospot for a topic
no it hasn’t and in fact if you just see the factual numbers Nintendo has been the most successful despite not having any cloud backend. Hardware will play a big role because fast internet infrastructure is not even close to what it should be for cloud streaming therefore services like google stadia is failing miserably unless a breakthrough comes along on global high speed internet connectivity. I personally play the most on the plane or hotel and that makes services like Apple Arcade or devices like Nintendo switch the best choices and believe these are the future of gaming. Consoles and PC games will always be there of course for hard core gamers You're right, and I apologize for suggesting that this change is set in stone. I've amended the first paragraph to be more accurate, and I'd like to clarify that the original wording doesn't represent a personal opinion of mine. As you may know based on previous articles of mine, especially opinion pieces, I'm a huge fan of Nintendo and in no way do I agree that they're doomed because of cloud gaming. My goal was to express what seems to be a common belief and it didn't come out the way I wanted it to, so I apologize.1 point -

"It's become very clear over the past year that cloud-based gaming experiences are the future of the gaming market" According to who? There might be some small niche interest in nvidias service and Stadia was an outright failure. And Sony's service isn't all that popular from what I heard of it, as well. It's the companies standing to gain the most from this that keep trying to tell us it's the future from what I've seen and most gamers aren't buying it.1 point -

The Dark Knight reacted to +BudMan for a topic
Huh? They are designed to be on 24/7.. The only time my computer is off, is when doing something with it hardware wise, its rebooting for some sort of patch.. Other than its on 24/7 - and I don't even put it into standby.. Unless you are running wep, or using wps (this should be off) hacking your psk if actually secure and not something like p@55w0rd! would be almost impossible to brute force by normal people.. If you are concerned, why not try and hack your own wifi.. hashcat comes to mind, but using wpa2 (aes) with unique ssid and "strong" psk is very secure.. It sure doesn't justify turning it off as a concern.. If your concerned, change it every so often. Do your research.. But sure a dedicated hacking rig using GPU are very fast... Is the script kiddie in the apt next to you using a say a $5k hacking rig? But still with even such a rig to run through the key space of 20 random would be in the 1000's of years. But if your concerned, shut it off - keep in mind that once I have captured a handshake, I don't need your system on any more, and the next time its turned on I can auth... So you turn it on and off doesn't protect you really. If your tinfoil hat is that tight, I suggest you change your password every time you turn it on, and then go through all the hassle of changing that on your device your running netflix on, and then next time your doing it - do it all over again. Or be better to just run a wire to watch your netflix.1 point -

Stadia where you have to start your library over and buy everything from them I'd agree with you. Nvidia though I think is doing it right as you're using your existing Steam library. I've been a part of the Geforce Now beta for more than a year now and can attest to it being quite good. I have a netbook I run it on regularly and can stream any of my games with little to no latency at home or at a friends place etc. I also have a Shield TV in my bedroom I stream games on and they run well there too. It's nice having extra options when I don't want to be on my main gaming tower. That actually sounds legit. I would think that'd be huge for Mac users too, since they would no longer be reliant on porting games over to MacOS. Definitely a game changer if you no longer require Windows or a powerful GPU when buying laptops. Would love to see it come to iOS as well.1 point -

This is the problem, the only real word we have is from the US government, but they have a motive in spinning this. All I do know is that the US have been found out to spy on peoples information and I suspect China does the same and even thought I don't like it, I don't see why I should pick one side or the other unless any of them offer something better and in the end, they are both just as bad as each other.1 point -
