  1. It should not even be designed this way - hard for Microsoft to get this? Local search results should never be affected by server side whatever.

  2. What a garbage, the most annoying, broken OS ever released by Microsoft which is completely wired to every possible spyware tool Microsoft ever invented. This article is completely missing the point and that is why our data is being constantly monitored and collected and our search too?

  4. Comcast data cap issues

depends on what your watching and in what quality.. UHD on netflix is about 7GB per hour.. So TB of data is only 142 hours... If you have multiple streams going, leave it streaming and walk away and it plays the next episode without you knowing.. You could for sure burn thru 1TB cap in a couple of days even.. ###### some updates for console games can download the full size again.. Some can be quite large.. 100+ GB Data if anything should be updated to reflect current streaming sizes and game updates, for sure.. My isp has no data caps... Good thing since I am normally over 2TB a month easy..

  7. It’s unbelievable how far Microsoft has fallen in quality. You’d think any patch would receive proper scrutiny, let alone the last update an OS would ever receive. Kind of like the last car of a particular model coming off the assembly line. Guess not. They can’t even issue a patch without needing a patch to the patch.

  8. Curious, because just about every other app with a search function that returns both local and remote results works just fine returning locating local content when it can't get online content. People aren't "being babies", Microsoft's coders are just incompetent. And they aren't going to give you any brownie bucks for attacking their critics.

Buy what fits your workload. The problem is Nvidia / CuDa can do most of the things AMD can (Mostly better), but AMD cards can't do most of the things which Nvidia can! All of the ML or High Performance computing work relies on Cuda or Nvidia Tech (Vulken, OpenGL kind of sucks compared to Cuda). So I agree , No CUDA, no thanks!

Yay. Another 365 feature that's NOT in 2019. I have people asking for 365 to be loaded in instructional labs instead of 2019 because of the new arrays feature. I can't find a way to deploy it, and license it under our volume license kms. I've just been telling them to go to the website, and either use it in the browser, or download it once they've logged into the website. This is not an acceptable solution however. They just want it loaded. They don't want any extra steps. Ugh.

  32. So many cry-babies! Y'all want "omni-search" (one search box that combines local indexes, cloud backups, office online, public search, and smarter features [built-in travel, math, vocab, etc]) yet complain when it either isn't able to execute (due to online portions being unavailable [hence server-side fixes]) or take too long (due to running local queries first, then refreshing the results panes with non-local results). You cannot have it both ways! Either it queries local-only or combines local+remote providers alike. The local-only would NOT include cloud backups or office online cuz those are not local indexes... So would y'all truly prefer multiple search boxes polluting your screen? That would result in hideous UX issues and complaints about, "Why couldn't MSFT make an omni-search like Google does?"

All of the ML or High Performance computing work relies on Cuda or Nvidia Tech (Vulken, OpenGL kind of sucks compared to Cuda). So I agree , No CUDA, no thanks! Again, buy what you need for your workload. If you have a CUDA workload, get that. If you have an OpenCL workload, get that. Again, with a rephrase, CUDA / NVIDIA can do 99% of work load AMD can, while AMD can do 50-60% what Nvidia can! So in one another language, for almost all workloads Nvidia works (So buy that!), for some workload's AMD works so don't buy that, except you come under 1% and there is a price justify the work loads it can't handle. If you have ever worked on CUDA as well as OpenGL, you would know why developers prefer CUDA and why these workload difference exist.

you could turn off the wifi on the combo modem/router and just use it as a pass-through device to another router you purchase. that way the secondary router can monitor everything and you don't have to modify the rented equipment. edit: there's no way you used of a terabyte of data with just the standard streaming services as that's all I use as well. something is definitely fishy. If someone isn't jacking your connection then maybe they ARE miscalculating like someone said in a link above.

  37. simplewall (Wfp Tool) 3.1

It looks great and the UI is functional. If you want to see ugly then check out Binisoft's Windows Firewall Control. I totally agree, however I am referring to software that has not really left the Windows XP look. I also noticed that there is more than one SimpleWall. https://www.henrypp.org/product/simplewall https://www.simplewallsoftware.com/#services What is an "XP look" even? And how has this not left it? The software looks perfectly fine, I don't even know what you're referring to with "XP look", if you mean it has coloring for different processes, that's there for a reason. Or maybe a "modern, Windows 10 look" means having gigantic, ugly tiles on everything that staggers functionality and you have no idea what to click first of fear something might explode. If anything, more software should look like that, the saying "don't fix what isn't broken" applies perfectly here. Like 7-Zip or Internet Download Manager's "outdated" looking themes - who the f**k cares?! The two pieces of software work flawlessly and are doing an amazing job. If only Microsoft weren't imbeciles and employed the same strategy for Windows - we'd have something that looks like a hybrid between XP and Vista (think Longhorn theme styles) and has all the neat additions of Windows 10. And would've been a better OS that our current Windows 10.

  38. Three Envelopes

"These three envelopes were left to you by the previous employee who was recently let go. He said to open them in order if you ever got into a jam." The job didn't seem so tough, and after all, why would I want to take advice from the guy who was just fired? I threw the envelopes into a drawer and settled into my new job. The people were friendly, there were always fresh donuts and bottomless coffee, and everything always just fell into place. Until one day it hit the fan. Everyone came looking for me for this major issue, and I'll be honest, I didn't know what to do. For whatever reason, I was reminded of the envelopes and proceeded to open the one marked #1. "Blame the previous guy." Well, sure! I mean, if it wasn't for all the stuff he did in the past, we wouldn't be in this predicament now! I told everyone it was the previous guy's fault, and everyone seemed to accept that. Slowly, business got back to normal. I felt like I dodged a bullet. Months went by and not a single bump in the road. And then...Another emergency. I could hear people yelling my name, and not in a good way. Without hesitation, I reached for envelope #2. "Blame the support staff." Right? I mean, if they were doing their job and told me sooner, I could've fixed all of this before it was even a problem! Everyone nodded. Couldn't argue with that logic. I was relieved to have dodged another bullet. I must be pretty good at this after all! A full year went by and, sure, some people had since been let go, but I was still sitting pretty with a good job and a carefree attitude. Things just always seemed to work out! When the next crisis hit, I wasn't even phased. I could hear the people yelling my name, and I could almost even imagine them carrying pitchforks all aimed at me. Whatever. I still had that final envelope which I opened as everyone was amassed at my door.

  39. Time to upgrade my router - roast me.

You don’t have to be a noob to be wrong. Those who hinge their arguments on their decades of experience (in my experience) merely show they can no longer be taught or corrected because they think they know it all already. Stop wasting our time and come back with something of substance. Or don’t, in which case your suggestion will be appropriately disregarded as rubbish.

  41. Time to upgrade my router - roast me.

I don’t want you to argue with me either because your explanation is nonsense and wasting our time. If something doesn’t make sense, then there is a better explanation than what you are giving. You moving to a single AP just tells us that there was something wrong with the mesh system or it was misconfigured. You are lying to yourself if you think otherwise. Not sure what the experience flex was about...not really relevant to the discussion.

  42. Time to upgrade my router - roast me.

That doesn’t make any sense. In a true mesh network, it doesn’t matter which AP it picks because the device is connecting to one SSID. That sounds more like someone setup nodes on top of each other. If they are all equally strong, you have a misconfigured mesh network and/or it’s a problem with the mesh network devices and not the client.

  45. How the coronavirus outbreak has affected Wuhan: a bird's eye view

Different satellites and cameras- not all are color. What you are supposed to notice are the subtle details and not the overall image as a whole. Look at the number of cars in parking lots, etc. and keeping the same toned picture will actually help to find them more independently and without any prejudice. Yeah, in the one airport shot it just looks like most of the cars have moved from the main parking lot to the secondary parking lot. How this caused the RGB settings to be incorrectly applied in the simulation is above my pay grade.

  49. There are some published results online, and most of them seem fairly accurate to what we have found. The speed is often in the margin of error, with Edge besting Chrome most of the time. Chrome has a tiny <1% win in javascript tests, but this is expected as Microsoft adds additional security that Chrome doesn't. As many expected, network usage is lower in Edge, as Chrome sends a ton of encrypted data back to Google, still around 1.5-2GB per week for an average non-cellular user. As with EdgeHTML, Edge does better with Battery, CPU, and can be dramatically better with Memory use in lower memory systems. (Sub 2GB RAM) As most people can see, Edge Chromium performs much better than EdgeHTML on actual sites, due to web developers using Chromium specific code or shoving old IE code to EdgeHTML. Reconstructing similar sites locally, and properly sending the same content as standards, EdgeHTML is faster most of the time. But not enough on modern systems. The painful area is on older, slower systems, where Chromium is a pig in comparison. I'm curious what other users are finding with various tests. wow you probably trash talked chromium compared to legacy edge before edge started using it. now that edge uses it now its much better. you comments are mostly like "As most people can see" and "As many expected" with no proof and taking points right from your ass thank you for calling the user out on this. it happens all the time.
