Firefox 73.0.1
adrynalyne and 4 others reacted to cork1958 for a topic
My favorite part is when roughly 30% of the websites on Firefox are glitching and not loading properly compared to Chrome and other Blink-powered browsers where they load flawlessly. xD You have got to have some extension/setting messing up Firefox if you're having issues on 30% of the websites you visit. I have never had any issue on any site I visit. I believe it was you that said the same thing the last time an article was posted on an update here. How about posting some links to all these sites that aren't loading properly? You did post a link to Mega site last time and I and another person replied it was working fine for us.5 points -
Dishonored series and more Bethesda-published games go DRM-free on GOG
timster and 4 others reacted to eddman for a topic
IMO GOG is hands down the best game store out there for users. Not only it doesn't allow any kind of DRM, IINM it's the only store that allows you to download offline installation files for the games and keep them as backups, with no limitations. I don't even have to install their client. Unfortunately the side effect of their DRM-free policy is that most publishers do not put their latest titles there.5 points -

samw61 and 2 others reacted to excalpius for a topic
No. The original article linked above describes this much more accurately. The screen is going to roll-open or roll-closed as you close the right and left handholds. So, it's one screen, wherein you only view part of it when closed, all of it when open. It's a very interesting design that eliminates the need for any crease or seem whatsoever.3 points -

Your Phone app brings cross-device clipboard sync to latest Samsung flagships
Sugadevan and one other reacted to George P for a topic
Access to the clipboard on your Android phone requires OEM support to get, it's got nothing to do with MS's app or any APIs their Your Phone link uses, which is just wifi direct. So I don't know what you're talking about with a open API.2 points -

does the Duo have a screen on the outside at all? I haven't really kept up, but if it's ONLY the two inside screens then it really be a niche product that will likely be DOA due to zero use case. How awkward is that going to be to have to open up the device to dial a number / select a contact, and then close the device again just to talk on it having to open it again to end the call. because no one is going to hold it open during the call, that would be even more awkward ... You are correct, the only versions and prototypes we've seen to date have no screens on the outside. Only on the inside. Using it as a phone will be very awkward indeed. I disagree, but given how many minutes people actually spend talking on the phone these days it might not matter for majy users. another possible issue not related to talking. How will keyboard work on the dual screen devices? Will it always be split between both screens even if using an app on a single screen or will it put the keyboard just on the screen of the app being used at the time? just having the keyboard on one screen would be awkward to type on IMO if using your thumbs.2 points -

Patch My PC Updater 4.1.0.4

Great app The one bug I've always reported but has yet to fix is this. If you have a list of apps but see one it wants to update but realize you don't need it anymore, so you uninstall it. After uninstalling an app you click rescan on patchmypc. It disappears on the right but stays checked on the left. I can't count how many times I miss it on a large list of apps and have Said app, get reinstalled. I just bumped the old bug report on his forum to tell him it's still not fixed.2 points -

Tesla ordered by court to halt work on German gigafactory
simss and one other reacted to Brony for a topic
This factory and forest aside, can you please explain what your plans are with the millions of tons of toxic waste with the dead Lithium batteries after they wear off? It's a tricky question that Musk always dodges. Yes, you can (kinda) recycle Lithium batteries, too bad the process costs around 5 times more than mining it, so in essence no one on Earth is doing it. And the process also emits greenhouse gases by the way. The US is all about Tesla now, Musk this, Musk that, Made in Murrica, such green, so innovation, but in reality, it's just a different, somewhat "better" form of pollution. Someone's definitely clueless in this case, but curiously it's not the green league this time. I am pro hydrogen and I don't think an electric car is green than a regular car. However, the use of electric cars is the "poster girl" of the green movements. The Green League is not complaining if the battery is recyclable (or about Murica) but about the forest and water. The forest is not a reserve and the water, if they can process the water, then they could comply with the law.2 points -

The Duo looks big to use as a phone, but can't you fold it so that there is one screen on the back and one on the front? The hinge goes both ways isn't it? Yeah, from the leaks, the dude holds it in one hand like someone holds a Kindle or iPad Mini, where their fingertips claw the edges. Not really a pocketable device.1 point -

I know manufacturers like Samsung and Apple are trying to normalize these smartphone prices. But there's no way I'm spending that much. I love my Galaxy S10+ but I would not have gotten it if it wasn't for the fantastic trade-in offers that Samsung had offered. I was perfectly happy with my S9. The manufacturers have a pretty good to amazing profit margin on any phone over $400. Anyway, I'm waiting for the Surface Duo as my new phone. I expect it to be more expensive but it offers things my S10+ doesn't.1 point -
Tesla ordered by court to halt work on German gigafactory
dustojnikhummer reacted to kenhes for a topic
Have you ever saw a battery plant? Not one that puts a nice finished product together? “They are cleaner” would be something nobody says that either works or lives near one. The emissions offset takes about a decade to break even when compared to a IC car. It’s a toxic, destructive process. Not to mention that most Tesla’s are leased, for only a few years, hardly that 10 years it’ll take to offset. They are just as polluting as regular cars, just that instead of the emissions produced via fuel combustion, it’s emitted during battery construction, as well as charging (coal, gas, nuclear power sources). I see you're conveniently not including petrol/oil refining and shipping in the equation of creating an ICE car. Also, most Tesla cars are less than two years old so it's a little early to predict how long they'll be used for. Their batteries will most likely outlast the car. https://cleantechnica.com/2018...-may-last-for-500000-miles/1 point -

Hands on with the Windows 10X emulator
Matthew S. reacted to adrynalyne for a topic
So a OS for mobile dual screen devices is targeting mobile devices, you don't say? Who said anything about running this on desktops? Though dual screen laptops are a different story and those will run this. Though I've already seen twitter posts from people who'd like to have this shell on their desktops already, so you're clearly not talking about everyone here. And the "mobile" ship hasn't sailed, the "smartphone" ship did. Dual screen and folding devices are a whole new mobile market that no one has really taken control of yet. laptops are also mobile devices. No they are not. 🤣🤣🤣1 point -

Fail like no tomorrow? Let's see - neither WSL or WSL2 failed one bit (I use WSL2 right now for Android ROM development; in fact, it is starting to take off right now for exactly that *because* it is not as resource intensive as virtualization-based (as in VirtualBox or Hyper-V-based) Android ROM development). (WSL and WSL2 require paravirtualization, but NOT Hyper-V; I had to install Hyper-V to use Windows 10x.) In other words, paravirtualization is NOT Hyper-V; it can (and in the case of WSL and WSL2), can be leveraged without Hyper-V - where did you get the idea that paravirtualization *required* Hyper-V?1 point -
Valve's VR exclusive Half-Life: Alyx releases on March 23
badumtssness reacted to +E.Worm Jimmy for a topic
And that is exactly the point. Half Life Alyx pushed me to finally buy a headset and I'm not regretting it. It would not make any sense if HLA was not a VR-only title. well, no one played the game, so we have no idea about how good the gameplay actually is and if it can translate into non-VR controller / mouse-kb play. if it can be transitioned, i would think Valve or modders, will release non-VR version once the hype over the game dies down.1 point -

Novel idea: then use that instead. Maybe, just maybe, this wasn’t a setting designed for you and instead mobile users. Last time I checked there is no such a thing as mobile users with Windows 10. If you mean laptops, these things are controlled through Nvidia, Intel and AMD display panel. As I said this option has no business to be in Windows. *cough* Even the 'power management' provided by NVidia/Intel/AMD - is BASED ON MICROSOFT Windows Driver technologies. These are NOT magical or INDEPENDENT technologies. FFS1 point -

yeah that's the problem with the budget tablets sadly; they function 'decent' on their initial factory release os version but degrade in performance fast with each update don't have a samsung tablet myself but anything E series and above should perform well. the A series is really their lowest budget range so it performs mediocre at best as you've noticed. edit: though it looks like the E series hasn't been refreshed in a few years so the S tabs look to be the way to go if you don't want lag1 point
