What is happening with NVidia is actually very common, the difference is due to the rollout, how much of the behind the scenes users get to see. Just simple licensing distribution is complicated along with a lot of insane internal tactics companies use to leverage better deals and fees. I have seen similar things happen to products from companies like Microsoft, 10 years ago. Deals were struck, and then any justifiable change in terms was leveraged to leave the contract or get a chunk in new fees. Whenever you see music, or XYZ product available in region ABC, or these games available through HJK - there has usually been a huge series of contract fights to get the basic features released, let alone full release and distribution, which is nearly impossible when a company doesn't have leverage in the market (monopoly). Apple can 'usually' get these types of contracts and licensing deals through, but when the industry hated Microsoft, getting even a simple music resell contract through would be insane, and often cost Microsoft several times the costs that they would eat to provide the service to customers. So from games to music or codecs to cortana, similar issues are why Microsoft (for example) never could do global releases of products that need or resell 3rd party content. However, do pay attention to what each individual company is doing with NVidia, and if their choices are based helping or harming users. (Most of this crap is harming users.)1 point -

Passing array of int to mvc controller with javascript

My bad, you're right, for proper JSON requests it does need that, the OPs example threw me off. There's another bug in the OPs code they have contextType instead of contentType as the option so when I was testing (hadn't used jQuery for a long time) the model binder was checking encoded form fields instead of JSON.1 point -

Mines similar, but don't actually use my Gmail for anything but YouTube. i only have chrome installed for google products. And i use Brave on my iPhone to watch youtube only. I dont use their search, or their email. Its not easy to stop using google. But it can be done you just have to change the way you do things. Well Youtube is pretty useless without a Gmail account Why do i need a gmail account to watch youtube? You don't? I can't remember if the app needs to. But as for the web version, you don't have to. For it to be useful, aka recommendations and subscription tracking, yes. I believe you only need to make a Google account to sign in for certain features as you're suggesting. A Google account doesn't require you to use their Gmail service; you can create a Google account with any valid email address.1 point -

I laugh every time I hear this. People voting with their wallets doesn't stop anyone else from buying and enjoying the game wherever they feel like, so it affects absolutely nothing. well if people did, then it would work. Companies only care about the bottom line. If you dont buy they dont get money. Simple as that. That's my point. You not buying doesn't mean noone else will. They don't care whether or not you want the product or like the companies business practices. Which is exactly the attitude that these companies rely on to get away with their BS. "I'll let the rest of them boycott it and I'll enjoy it, they'll still get the message." Thats not how things work of course and I absolutely will boycott companies that pull crap like this. Actually it's exactly how they work. They get the message. Just not the one you wanted them to.1 point -

Google is trying to dissuade Edge users from using Chrome extensions
quikmantx reacted to trojan_market for a topic
Simple to fix really. Use Microsoft launcher. It’s beautiful. For Gmail, use outlook to get your emails. It connects to Gmail very well. Interface is much better IMO and focused inbox works much better than Gmail categories. YouTube and google maps is my only google services that I cannot live without but I am using Gmail less and less every day anyway because if google can’t see your emails they don’t have much information and context about your life Doesn't solve the fact that you still need to, you know, have the account True but fact of having google account isn’t necessary a bad thing. The fact of associating that account with your personal information and habits is bad. True google can lead a lot about you from google maps and YouTube but not as much as it can learn from Browser or Gmail . If you don’t use Gmail for your private life, finance , etc you keeping google in the dark and their data mining algorithms will not work well. I am not sure in android how easy it is to turn off telemetry but simple solution is to switch to iOS because frankly Apple doesn’t abuse your data as much as google does1 point -

How is this any different than Microsoft’s “but wait!” Message they pop up when you try to change default browsers? I don’t think they are doing it anymore, but well, same idea. the way it's worded is what I have a problem with. With Microsoft's message it was basically a plea "please try our browser" kind of thing. With this it's google falsely claiming "it's insecure to use these extensions there" for only Edge and no other Chromium based browser. It's not only hypocritical but is making people think they may get hacked or something if they don't use Chrome instead when trying to install an extension.1 point -

Google is trying to dissuade Edge users from using Chrome extensions
quikmantx reacted to JustonCheney for a topic
This is just Google being Google, but Microsoft should totally not block stuff in their browser that is not outright malicious. In any case, I would assume that this message also shows up in other Chromium-based browsers (like Brave)? Hoping that more extensions get ported to the Microsoft store as Chromium Edge gains users and this will become a non-issue. I just checked and found two of my installed extensions that had been added to the MS store, so I switched over to those. Agreed on hoping extensions come over. As mentioned in the article, it seems likely it's a white listing issue where Google hasn't included Edge on Chromium, which is still a little dirty to me. Though, with past issues, it was easy to find in the code for the page that Google had actually marked Edge as blacklisted, not just not being white listed, which is even dirtier. So either Google is caught playing dirty again, or they suck at naming variables.1 point -

Microsoft forcing users into setting up a Microsoft account for fresh installs
btriffles reacted to 0suds8kski for a topic
The best way to avoid this is when you begin a Windows 10 installation, you should unplug your computer from the internet and when the prompt for account creation comes, it will allow you to create a local account, that's what I've been doing for a while now. Another benefit is if you remain unplugged from the internet after the install, some bullcrap apps that try to download on its own won't be able to and you can select "Unisntall" on them so they never download and make your Bloatware Windows 10 even more of a Bloatware.1 point -

Microsoft forcing users into setting up a Microsoft account for fresh installs
Noel Hibbard reacted to shockz for a topic
I'm not sure about macOS, but I believe Google and Apple have always required accounts for phone devices. The issue here is that MS is removing functionality for no reason other than business purposes. It's interesting that this change will only ###### people off. I don't see anyone saying this is a good thing. Another reason this is a bad idea is now this will be a huge hassle if you're trying to create a virtual machine or just install a copy for testing purposes. Neither Google or Apple require accounts for their devices. You can bypass both logins during the initial OOBE.1 point -
Windows 10's colorful app icons are finally showing up for Insiders
btriffles reacted to MS Bob 11 for a topic
Worth it? For many people it's the most important app on their PC. I don't pin anything to the Windows taskbar because I like it to have space for maximum running apps/open app windows with text labels enabled. The Start menu is where all the installed apps go and if you are power user with dozens of apps installed, a third party Start menu can handle the list much better with many advanced customization features which by the way used to be standard in Windows until MS took them away. A third party Start menu will also give you direct and quick access to any files through flyout/cascading menus without opening their parent folder. And finally the search. Did I mention the search? It's not broken and half-assed like the Windows 10 Start menu.1 point -
Windows 10's colorful app icons are finally showing up for Insiders

Yeah, and most things don't even support dark mode. Even MS's own Office doesn't support it, it has to have its own separate built-in dark mode and doesn't follow the OS setting! Some of the GUIs like for Photos doesn't even support proper keyboard mnemonics. You can't do Alt+O for OK and same for other buttons. They are using different GUIs for different apps and nothing fits together or works the same. Keyboard shortcuts are different for different MS apps as well. Microsoft Dynamics is garbage especially. Wtf are they even doing with that. Nobody likes it. (The way scripting is integrated is garbage too.) Third parties don't even know what conventions to follow so they roll their own GUI. Nothing matches! They need GUI (and keyboard shortcut) consistency for Windows 10. The UX is getting worse and worse and more fragmented over time. They need to nail something down and stick with it for the long haul so developers know what to target and can catch up before MS pulls the rug out again.1 point -
