  2. Portable Hard Drive Dead?

Ah not too worried about the data. It's just Xbox games, unmetered connection so I'll just download it again. Just the universes way of telling me to play some of the games 😉 I've ordered another enclosure, will update you all tomorrow

  12. Star Trek: Picard (CBS All Access)

I mean she embraced her humanity by the end of voyager, especially near the end of its run, and now she’s a soulless renegade? I mean, sure, losing a “son/kin” would be traumatizing and anyone would seek revenge, but I don’t like that she’s gone full vigilante. Almost dexter style. Also, not seeing the Bi angle.

  14. Mass copy of data for several folders.

After reading it again I may understand your question a bit better...I did a search and found this solution: @echo off set source="R:\Contracts" set destination="R:\Contracts\Sites" ::Not sure if this is needed ::It guarantees you have a canonical path (standard form) for %%F in (%destination%) do set destination="%%~fF" for /r %source% %%F in (.) do if "%%~fF" neq %destination% ROBOCOPY "%%F" %destination% *.srt *.pdf *.mp4 *.jpg /COPYALL /R:0

That's just like Windows 10 Mobile with the rearrangement happening vertically instead of horizontally.

  16. Google: Don't sideload our apps on Huawei devices

This is just google doing its legal stuff while at the same time letting you know that you can get the playstore on those devices if you google it, its free press and free money for them. As soon as you get google apps on your phone it doesn't even try to verify that your device is licensed, theres no profit in that. there is profit in you not using the competitors store/apps though.

  18. Apple reportedly releasing an ARM-based Mac in 2021

I wonder if they'll get the same level of complaint from users like MS does? If they do this it'll be using heavy emulation for any 3rd party apps, they'll probably re-compile their own stuff but MS does that as well. Only time will tell if this even happens but it wouldn't surprise me. This lets them control even more of the hardware and not have to pay intel, it boosts their margins and leaves more money in their pockets.

  20. Portable Hard Drive Dead?

Yeah, a lot of companies use encryption. This was the same with my WD MyBook. It's a pain, really. You can't take it out and expect to see everything on your computer. I origionally got my drive data back by doing something in GParted. I think it was repartitioning it without losing data. I don't remember as it was awhile ago.

  22. Microsoft unveils new specs and features for Xbox Series X

This is what I thought but thing is they never quite tell you what the ingame settings are running at which I suspect would have to be low/medium with a high AA to achieve such a claim. I'd be shocked if it was all high/ultra like we're use to seeing on PC... Only time will tell with console game optimisations Not every game will run at 120fps/hz, I think it'll depend on the game and what the developer is going to do. Still, the option is there for some games at least.

  23. Microsoft unveils new specs and features for Xbox Series X

Just need price and release date, I'm with you though, going to jump in. I still think $499 is the price and that they'll take a hit on it and make it back from things like game pass and for sure the more exclusives they're going to be releasing this gen. It wouldn't surprise me if it's $599 though, but Phil also said he's not going to lose on price vs Sony, we'll see.

  24. Microsoft unveils new specs and features for Xbox Series X

Probably all, the only issue here is at what performance hit. Ray tracing if you decide to do all of it will impact frame rates for sure. So maybe on that end, it could be limited to specific ray tracing things and not everything like on the PC.

Didn't jump in with the Xbox One X, but I'll definitely be picking this up. I like the idea of being able to quickly resume multiple games, would work well for me.

  26. Too narrow! 71 mm! 😣 I need at least 76mm wide phone. (76mm is acceptable but still too narrow from my old 82mm wide 16:9 ratio LG phablet). 4000 mah is standard now even in budget devices. Flagships need at least 5000 mah. Also, does this phone have Always On Display? When notifications arrive, I don't want to lift the phone or manually turn on the screen to see if something needs my attention. And the AOD should turn off in the pocket or when proximity sensor is covered. All phones are screwing this up lately. 😞 Not sure how I feel about side fingerprint sensor too as I am a leftie as much as I am a rightie. Impressive camera features though. That's the only thing flagships focus on while ignoring other things e.g. ones I mentioned above.

  28. Star Trek: Picard (CBS All Access)

I agree. The cursing makes it more realistic because come on, let’s face it, we all curse on daily basis, so there’s nothing wrong with it. They bombed the F word in discovery a couple of times too.

  29. Star Trek: Picard (CBS All Access)

Discovery had a slow start but got better with the second season and Picard more serial then standalone episodes is still better Star Trek than JJ Abrams attempt. I highly enjoy both shows and have been a Star Trek fan for many decades. In regards to the cursing and the (mild) violence, remember all the other series was on public TV and had to follow censor guidelines. I welcome the cursing and (mild) violence.

  31. Mi MIX Alpha out now in select stores in India

This looks cool, but it's a usability nightmare. Is the wrap around screen all touch? How are you gonna distinguish touches on the back from the front. Accidental side touches? Not to mention Android OS level support for this form factor. Also, that much screen on all the time means less battery life.

  33. And yet CD Projekt RED is proud to announce and support their titles on Nvidia's service. Honestly, Activision Blizzard and Bethesda has been going downhill for a few years now, and it doesn't look like that's gonna change in the near future. Good riddance.

  34. Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) 4 beta images available now

I like Debian too but have to get the unofficial non-free one for my WiFi to work, haven't tried LMDE on my computer to see if the WiFi works out the box but I imagine it would. The normal Mint releases have been good for me too up till now Do you know why you have to use unofficial non free to get Debian wi-fi to work? Yeah, the only reason I haven't tried the LMDE is because Mint has been working so nicely for me. "the only reason I haven't tried the LMDE is because Mint has been working so nicely for me." Yeah, and regular v19.x series Mint is more of the official version of Mint anyways as it seems LMDE is a backup option to keep Mint going in case Ubuntu ever dies etc. plus, one thing off the top of my head that is a bigger strike against LMDE is I don't think you can use PPA's with it where as with regular MInt you can. ill be waiting for Mint v20 and even then I might wait until say v20.1 is released so all of the kinks are ironed out. Don't use any PPA's anyway, so that's a non issue. Being that it's a "backup" option could also be another reason to try and see if I liked it. I see. but I suspect many of us do including myself. I use a few so I can get updated software instead of using older software in the repositories. I'm sure I'm in the minority about not using any PPA's but don't care about having the latest and greatest as long as what I have is secure and works as intended. Even the "older" stuff in the repositories gets security updates when necessary.

  35. Bethesda Softworks is pulling its games from Nvidia's GeForce Now

I'm sure Morrowind is much better than the state of total anarchy you just described. To wit, item #3 is a bug. IGN did a better job of introducing Bethesda. I think I'm going to play Skyrim next. Well, maybe. I hate open-world games since I played Need For Speed: Underground 2. Most of my time was wasted on traveling between race positions.

  36. The Edge notification at least has some truth to it; the Chrome notification mentioned in this article is suggesting their competitor has potential security concerns, despite not offering such a notification on other Chromium-based browsers (AFAIA). I don't care for either type of notification, but misleading users definitely seems malignant.

  39. Google is trying to dissuade Edge users from using Chrome extensions

at least Microsoft's claim was true. Edge legacy had excellent battery life compared to Chrome. They've lost some of that benefit moving to Chromium but they've been implementing new code to improve it.

  46. No it was not limited to the U.S. , in Canada we have the same thing (disconnect the internet to get the option again). It's getting harder and harder to by pass this thing unless you do a unattend install... Even on a an iphone or android you still have the option to bypass login with an account, you just wont be able to do much online.

  47. Star Trek: Picard (CBS All Access)

I think her doing what she did shows she's more human now. How many people would snap and go down the same path if they went through the same thing? It's interesting and at the least shows just how much things have changed since the supernova hit.

  48. Star Trek: Picard (CBS All Access)

I guess we'll agree to disagree. The entire thing cheapens her character. As well as Icheb. What a terrible end to that arc. All in all though, the episode played out okay, felt like the Star Trek I used to watch. I hope we see a bit more of Seven sometime in the Trek Universe again, maybe to redeem herself in a way. Sums it up perfectly:

  49. Do you know what is cringe? The network configuration. Windows 10 has a modern configuration that doesn't work. It misses practically everything (such as changing the IP). While the old screen (that it has all the functionalities) is hidden in "related configurations". Also View Network Properties = useless screen. What is the point of this screen? 🤷
