Threatening attempt to gain access issue
goretsky and 2 others reacted to Brandon H for a topic
it's fake. likely a page with a redirect ad. you should be able to just close it and be fine If you're worried though I'd recommend you scan your computer with Malwarebytes and Kaspersky Rescue Disc on a USB. I recommend the rescue disc because booting into an environment to scan ensures the scanner isn't compromised causing it to ignore the infected files and/or be unable to delete them.3 points -
Dell windows restore image
+Warwagon and 2 others reacted to Jim K for a topic
Assuming Windows 10: More than likely the Dell iso will contain extra "fluff" that you won't necessarily need. Microsoft's media creation tool will give you a straight installation of Windows without all that "fluff.". You may or may not need to download drivers from Dell after installation and running Windows update (just check for exclamation marks in device manager)3 points -

Threatening attempt to gain access issue
Daniel F. and one other reacted to Nick H. for a topic
When I was unemployed this is how I passed the time. I didn't actively seek out the scammers, they would randomly phone the house. "Hello sir, I'm phoning from Microsoft and we would like to inform you that your computer is sending viruses." "Goodness, really? That sounds terrible. What can I do?" I was running Linux and I (was) an unemployed technician. I had them going for ages. It became a personal challenge to see how much of their time I could waste.2 points -

ZipZapRap and one other reacted to George P for a topic
The date is interesting and something they've done before so it could very well be true. As far as the peek feature, I like it. I use a flip/wallet style case on my OnePlus 6T so I do this sorta thing often when I flip it open to check.2 points -
Dell windows restore image
Jim K and one other reacted to Zinomian for a topic
Restore images used to be badly needed before when you needed to have the OS activated and either the win7/8 stickers were missing or couldnt be read, and win7 couldnt even the network card working without having to manually install drivers, etc. Now days, I MUCH prefer to to a clean install of Win10 (even for corporate), and then run the manufacturer software to install/update drivers (Lenovo System Update or Dell Command Update for the two I deal with). This will typically eliminate the crapware that comes with most new computers, but leave a new OS with proper drivers.2 points -
Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra's 120Hz display takes a huge toll on battery life
Elliot B. and one other reacted to Wam7 for a topic
You're saying it as if 15 minutes makes difference. Isn't that exaggeration on its own?Spin it however you want, 20+ % or 2.5h< is still plenty battery life to loose. Not trying to be contrarian, but high refresh rates displays on phones are overhyped. I'll take battery life any day of the week. I'm saying a journalists job is to report the facts as accurately as possible. Let me decide if 23% is "Huge" or not.2 points -

Who cares what the creator said, just because he made a completely illogical choice two hundred years ago doesn't mean we have to follow it. The G stands for Graphics, not Jraphics. Simple as. Anyone pronouncing it with a soft G should walk out the nearest window.2 points -

So GIPHY which started in 2013 is now being the end all to the name pronounciation of GIF?When the image format came out in 1987 the creators pronounced it JIF not GIF... I'd rather go by what they said back then To quote the CREATOR: Steve Wilhite, who invented the Gif file in 1987, told the New York Times that the word is pronounced “jif” not “giff”. “The Oxford English Dictionary accepts both pronunciations. They are wrong. It is a soft 'G,' pronounced 'jif.2 points -

A third of the prime of its life is gone, but it's at half price so you're still getting out ahead This is an issue the phone manufacturers make by themselves. They could just leave stock android and not have as much to deal with when upgrading the phone but that's not good enough. They all have their own calculator that does 2 + 2 their way, etc. It's almost enough for a person to go apple. At least you know buying that phone on launch day is not a monumentally stupid decision by comparison.1 point -

Samsung starts mass production of 16GB LPDDR5 DRAM package for premium smartphones
dead.cell reacted to George P for a topic
Having so much ram on a smartphone, 16GB, is just a waste. I'm sorry but people are not using these things with some sort of dock and turning them into laptops or psudo-desktops. Mobile games don't need so much ram, and no one is using beefy desktop class apps to do work on their smartphone. I get that OEMs need more so they can hit you with another buzz word o try and upsell you a new phone that will cost more than the one you bought before but we should be working on better and longer lasting battery tech, instead they're making phones bigger just so they can fit a bigger battery inside.1 point -

Bethesda Softworks is pulling its games from Nvidia's GeForce Now
Elliot B. reacted to chaos mage for a topic
I laugh every time I hear this. People voting with their wallets doesn't stop anyone else from buying and enjoying the game wherever they feel like, so it affects absolutely nothing. well if people did, then it would work. Companies only care about the bottom line. If you dont buy they dont get money. Simple as that. That's my point. You not buying doesn't mean noone else will. They don't care whether or not you want the product or like the companies business practices.1 point -
