Report: Stadia lacks games because Google is not offering developers enough incentives
dead.cell and 4 others reacted to +InsaneNutter for a topic
I wonder if many people are actually buying games on Stadia, or even actively using it? I've got a 3 month trial of Stadia from a friend, the tech behind it seems very impressive, Tomb Raider looks really good playing in a web browser. However once you get over that it doesn't seem good value for money as a service you'd actually use. The games are so over priced, even more so when you need to keep paying Google for the privilege of playing them: Assassins Creed Odyssey: Stadia: £54.99 Xbox One: £19.70 PS4: £21.99 Red Dead Redemption 2: Stadia: £54.99 Xbox One: £24.99 PS4: 24.99 Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint: Stadia: £59.99 Xbox One: £44.94 PS4: £35.95 Trials Rising Gold Edition: Stadia: £29.99 Xbox One: £18.13 PS4: £17.34 (Xbox One / PS4 prices from Amazon UK) If you wanted a way to play games on the big screen I can't help think its much better value in the long term just to buy an Xbox One or PS4, the Stadia controller & Chromecast are £120 as it is.5 points -

Report: Stadia lacks games because Google is not offering developers enough incentives
Nas and one other reacted to Paul1979UK for a topic
The real problem with streaming is lack of trust in that what we buy, will we'll be able to play them 5 or 10 years from now? I think the better way of doing a streaming service is if it works with the games we've already bought like Nvidia is trying to do, that gets rid of a lot of the trust issue and if the worse happens, you still have access to the games you've bought. With Stadia, the risk is too high to go crazy and spend too much money on the service, after all, how would you feel if after 10 years or so, you've bought 100 or 200 games only for Google to send you an email to say we're shutting down, tough luck lol. Many say it won't happen, but we just don't know, if Google doesn't find Stadia to be profitable or worse, they are losing money on the services, they will very likely shut the service down, the question is then, would Google refund all the games everyone has bought? That could be quite costly for them and really, they don't even have too but it could get them into legal bother if they don't as there will likely be a lot of angry gamers out there. Personally, I'll stick with what we have, at least we have control over the games we buy as well as choice in where we can buy our games and a lot more flexibility in what we can do with our games.2 points -

While no analogy is perfect, and I don't mean to beat up on yours, it has to be pointed out that neither iOS nor Android have finished copying all the features they want from Windows Mobile. It was the best OS, best design and the most innovative. Stadia... eh. Not really the leader of the pack in any way, shape or form and never was.2 points -

still works for me maybe it's a rolling/soft shutdown then. could be you don't get the message unless the login token is lost such as logging out normally or just losing it randomly like canprince. If you want to keep it then I don't suggest testing lol I never had to really login on my desktop. The session expired just as I was reading this article. Hmm, coincidence? LOL well in any case should be interesting to see what Facebook has to say about it if they ever respond to Neowin's inquiry1 point -

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro question
macoman reacted to Brandon H for a topic
for that very reason in my last sentence. They want to be able to extend coverage without having to build even more towers. the existing 3G towers will be re-purposed to more 4G/LTE and some 5G That and the usual carrier BS that they want people to buy new devices to further lock in contracts and whatnot. be glad the AT&T has pushed their 3G support to 2022. Verizon and a couple other carriers shut theirs down at the end of last year already. edit: actually Verizon delayed their shutdown till the end of this year but still https://www.lightreading.com/mobile/3g-hspa/verizon-delays-3g-network-shutdown/d/d-id/7531471 point -
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro question
macoman reacted to Brandon H for a topic
While it will work it may not give you the best signal quality depending on what frequency AT&T uses in your area. It only supports 3 of the 9 LTE bands on AT&T AT&T LTE Bands: 2, 4, 5, 12, 14, 17, 29, 30, 66 Phone Supported LTE Bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 20, 28, 38, 40 This is why I tend to stay away from global/international variants of phones; they're more meant for use all across the European area. The US has unique frequencies that not many other countries make use of so they don't cover much for it.1 point -

Lmao what? Yes I get that Adobe is pricy, but still doesn't include all the stuff I need. Of course every case may be different - particularly if you're heavily invested in Adobe-specific functionality. But Affinity is the first serious alternative to what Adobe offers, without being forced into subscription plans. We got rid of our Adobe subs once we discovered Affinity and have not missed it.1 point -

Microsoft should really put a screen on the outside of the Surface Duo
Geezy reacted to Durishin for a topic
I've been anticipating the Duo for some time ("courrier"), but the design of the V60, with it's detachable second screen and that wonderful, wonderful Quad DAC likely make it a more practical purchase. Unless, MS come with some massive camera using the Lumia technique to manage the massive files it creates. Other than that - yes! An external screen, even a small one for notifications and "who's calling" info would be a plus.1 point -

Correct, file_get_html is not a native PHP function, the function resides within your included file that cannot be found so you need to fix that first. You should immediately be able to see weather or not the file exists by checking the inc folder in your project root.1 point -

I do the same. Also, it's a chore to try to sell a phone. If the phone is cheap, then nobody will buy it. If the phone is too old (+3 years), then nobody will buy it unless it is a flagship product. Not sure that's true. If anything, you won't get as much for an older phone but there is always someone around with a need for a cheap phone. Just look at that cheap phone you're using now. /jk Sheesh, I won't buy my current phone.1 point -

Microsoft's Surface Duo might launch as early as this summer
domboy reacted to dirtyvu for a topic
No 5G is not a big deal for most people, since mm-Wave 5G is only available is highly dense downtown areas, and very limited there since ti won't penetrate walls, and in some stadiums. Long wave 5G will be a slight improvement over 4G, but supposedly not more than 20% better bandwidth. T-Mobile has the Low band 5G nation wide so 5G is widely available to the masses on t-mobile and 5G is about capacity not speed as T-mobile has shown and once Tmobile gets the spint merger done then they will also have Mid band 5G The 5G that T-Mobile implemented is barely faster than 4G. Reminds me of the 2.5G that AT&T called 3G before the real 3G came out. There's an upcoming tech that will have true 5G speeds and be more scalable than mmwave so both current 5G techs are just interim before true 5G is available. we are in "pre-N" days (before real 802.11n came out).1 point -

Court: YouTube not bound by U.S. First Amendment
+EvilWalnut reacted to Zinomian for a topic
I agree it was a wise decision, but the courts did not really rule on free speech. PragerU argued the Youtube needs to be considered a public forum under Section 230. The court ruled that Youtube can choose whether to be a self-censoring publisher or an open-forum platform protected by section 230 -- and Youtube chose to be a publisher (by moderating their content). Which they have every right to. They are a private company, not funded with public funds or a goverment entity. Just because they are large or popular, it doesn't mean that user can claim "free speech". The interesting part, is that most of the arguing is coming from only "alt" groups of both sides (mostly right wing/conspiracy theorist at the moment) who dislike that their crap is being blocked. With that said, nothing prevents these groups from using other forums, they simply hate the fact, that these other forums aren't as popular.1 point -
