  4. A Blonde joke

An attractive blonde from Cork, Ireland arrived at a casino in Australia. She seemed a little intoxicated and bet $25,000 on a single roll of the dice. She said “I hope you don’t mind but I feel much luckier when I’m completely nude” With that, she stripped from the neck down, rolled the dice and with an Irish brogue yelled “Come on baby, mama needs new clothes!” As the dice came to a stop she yelled “YES! YES!, I WON! I WON!” She hugged each of the dealers and then picked up her winnings and her clothes and quickly departed. The dealers stared at each other dumbfounded. Finally one of them asked “What did she roll?” The other answered “I don’t know, I thought you were watching”

  6. Xerox makes official tender offer for HP at $24 per share

Xerox doesn't (they're a smaller company, like 33% HPQ's market cap) but behind-the-scenes the big monies know Xerox has great corporate credit so they're the face to kill HPQ from existence for once and for all -- breaking up HPQ into smaller pieces (read: mass layoffs) while also divesting (read: selling or "going bankrupt") the worst pieces. From a consumer standpoint, that means HPQ might no longer become the brand you once knew. From a business standpoint, that means Xerox's consulting DNA becomes the norm. From an investors standpoint, that means Xerox is betting it can shut down HPQ at a long-term profit for the deal's financial backers (loans).

  7. The Facebook app has disappeared from the Microsoft Store [Update]

Even just installing Facebook and Messenger as Apps (via Edge/Chrome) already works better than their Apps ever did. I would actually be surprised to see them give a crap about a Store PWA release.

  8. Microsoft should really put a screen on the outside of the Surface Duo

It already has an external screen: your smart watch. I can't remember the last time I took my phone out of my pocket just to see who's calling. I already know before I reach for my phone because it's on my wrist.

  9. Microsoft should really put a screen on the outside of the Surface Duo

Totally disagree about an external screen. It's just another part to break. I'd prefer none than one. On the camera front, yeah, I think they should throw another strong camera on the outside. Currently looks like a pita to use.

  11. War of the Worlds (2020 - Epix)

I'm talking about the one listed as Fox here, though in the United States it airs on EPIX. It is getting very good reviews from what I've gathered with a Google news review. I know it aired early in Europe (not sure which countries), but I can't fathom (3 episodes in...) how it got bad reviews. It's been great so far.

  12. Microsoft's Surface Book 2 is down to just $999

Doesn't matter what the other replies to you say, this thing is WAY over priced! Wouldn't have given that much for it brand new let alone 2+ years old! Couldn't care less about detachable things either. Don't have a clue about if it's a POS either, but it's definitely something I wouldn't purchase. I have thought about getting one in the past, but just couldn't pull the trigger on what they want for one of these things. You can also go to Frys and buy all the separate parts and be cheaper roflmao. Also the Dell does not have Windows Hello biometric, which is not cheap. Couldn't care less about some nuisance thing like Windows Hello biometric either! Definitely wouldn't want to have to pay for that thing!!

  13. Thoma Bravo buys anti-malware firm Sophos for $3.9 billion

lol. no. I've worked actually worked at a thoma bravo owned company. They don't have fire sales with asset strippers. They usually only take on well off companies who are already managed well and profitable, but are looking for more capital to expand faster than they're capable of without an investor. They don't just strip things for parts to make a profit off of, they build their purchases up and invest the time and money to grow them, which seems to pay off.

  15. I usually buy unlocked models since I tend to use no-contract carriers but from what I've heard no factory resetting should not effect the lock status. the 3rd party services are as safe as any other; I believe it's an algorithm that generates the codes based on the phone model and IMEI on the phone. whether or not these 3rd parties are supposed to have the algorithm or not I can not tell you but I can say they became quite common around the time carriers became ###### about unlocking devices because they didn't want people moving carriers. since then the carriers have laxed up a bit but the 3rd parties still stay around just in case. edit: as the sites say though; just pop in your SIM card and see if it works. If it does you're good to go and don't need to worry. If it needs unlocked then it will usually popup the prompt asking for the unlock code

  16. Even at the rumor level, there is a lot of conflation of the technologies in both hardware and software. Example... Since the RTX launch, DXR has moved from version 1.0 to 2.0 in the 2004 Windows 10 build. This includes several new techniques to improve speed and improve quality, like more advanced caustic lighting, along with focusing on frame rates higher than 60fps, where DXR 1.0 was designed around a seamless 60fps experience, which it delivers. DXR 2.0 is more focused on greater than 60fps with some features leveraging 240fps for interpolation (like temporal AA) to do less work and provide a better quality image. This alone means that even without Microsoft shoving DX12 and DXR into the GPU hardware (as they did with the XBox One X) - games from DXR changes will be 2x faster than current DXR 1.0 games on the same hardware. So RDNA2's DXR could be much faster, or the 2x gains in Ray Tracing performance could all be from DXR 2.0 advances, or could be from Microsoft's hardware implementation that is unique to their GPU design that builds from RDNA2. This is just one simple example of how crazy and varied all this information is, and could mean something impressive, or not be anything more than what we already know with just DXR. The sad thing, is that even when the technical information comes out fully, there will be one or two articles on the technologies that go beyond meaningless hardware metrics, and it will take a revolution like the XB360 introduced for the industry to take notice of any important advances.

  18. as long as you're not locked to a contract anymore you can usually contact the carrier it's locked to and request an unlock code. they'll usually provide the code for free and instructions on how to use it. if they give you pushback or you bought the device 3rd party and never activated it on the carrier then you can get one from a 3rd party unlocker service; some are free, some you have to pay a small fee. looks like this one is free https://sim-unlock.net/simlock/Sony/Xperia_XZ1/ edit: here's another site you can try as well https://www.unlockradar.com/unlock-sony/xperia-xz1

  19. Microsoft's Surface Book 2 is down to just $999

"The Surface Book 2, which is pushing two and a half years old at this point, is currently available for just $999, its lowest price ever" LOL! I always love seeing the outragous price of this POS. Just looking up dells and they're newer, faster, better and cheaper https://www.dell.com/en-us/sho.../g-series-15-5590-se-laptop $969 for a CPU which is 2 generations newer, an nvidia 1650 not 1050, same RAM, extra 1TB storage. Think you need to be part of research studies if you think these microsoft products are actually worth getting...

  20. FWIW, it seems MS is always wanting to change colors and redesigning stuff for icons also. Here's one time recently they announced such stuff: https://www.neowin.net/news/mi...-10-icons#comment-598523998 As far as the comment about fixing the billion things you still need to use the command line for, I think that's way over exaggerated as I very seldom have to, but still don't like having to. I agree about a full proof way to transfer files between OS's would be good.

3 more weeks for Game-of-the-year contender: Doom Eternal! Nobody will care for this half-hearted attempt by Valve. They blew it with Alyx....they should have come out with HL3 where it would have a larger audience. No matter what some people say, VR is still niche and isn't mainstream. Good luck Valve! 42. The real problem with streaming is lack of trust in that what we buy, will we'll be able to play them 5 or 10 years from now? I think the better way of doing a streaming service is if it works with the games we've already bought like Nvidia is trying to do, that gets rid of a lot of the trust issue and if the worse happens, you still have access to the games you've bought. With Stadia, the risk is too high to go crazy and spend too much money on the service, after all, how would you feel if after 10 years or so, you've bought 100 or 200 games only for Google to send you an email to say we're shutting down, tough luck lol. Many say it won't happen, but we just don't know, if Google doesn't find Stadia to be profitable or worse, they are losing money on the services, they will very likely shut the service down, the question is then, would Google refund all the games everyone has bought? That could be quite costly for them and really, they don't even have too but it could get them into legal bother if they don't as there will likely be a lot of angry gamers out there. Personally, I'll stick with what we have, at least we have control over the games we buy as well as choice in where we can buy our games and a lot more flexibility in what we can do with our games.

  43. While no analogy is perfect, and I don't mean to beat up on yours, it has to be pointed out that neither iOS nor Android have finished copying all the features they want from Windows Mobile. It was the best OS, best design and the most innovative. Stadia... eh. Not really the leader of the pack in any way, shape or form and never was.

  44. I wonder if many people are actually buying games on Stadia, or even actively using it? I've got a 3 month trial of Stadia from a friend, the tech behind it seems very impressive, Tomb Raider looks really good playing in a web browser. However once you get over that it doesn't seem good value for money as a service you'd actually use. The games are so over priced, even more so when you need to keep paying Google for the privilege of playing them: Assassins Creed Odyssey: Stadia: £54.99 Xbox One: £19.70 PS4: £21.99 Red Dead Redemption 2: Stadia: £54.99 Xbox One: £24.99 PS4: 24.99 Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint: Stadia: £59.99 Xbox One: £44.94 PS4: £35.95 Trials Rising Gold Edition: Stadia: £29.99 Xbox One: £18.13 PS4: £17.34 (Xbox One / PS4 prices from Amazon UK) If you wanted a way to play games on the big screen I can't help think its much better value in the long term just to buy an Xbox One or PS4, the Stadia controller & Chromecast are £120 as it is.

  46. Yep, the Duo is 100% DOA, not because of the definitely high price, clunky design and the dumbass decision to make it an Android device - but despite all that. You could twist all that around, the premium product, the innovative design and the mainstream OS, - no it's DOA because it's a Microsoft product that will not become a big hit, so in a year or two Microsoft will quietly discontinue it when it becomes obvious it is not a paradigm shifting device and doesn't really fit into the Microsoft eco system. That's why the executives that made this waste of space get the big bucks and some dumbass guy on the internet is wasting his time pointing out the obvious for free.

  47. This thing won't sell well. Who is it for and why do you need two screens? Some people here will buy it at almost any cost because they are fans but normal people don't want this clunky thing. They will sell 18 of them.
