iOS 14 to reportedly include an all apps screen
wotsit and 3 others reacted to shockz for a topic
People always seem to make these claims that the world will go crazy when Apple releases something "new", but yet it never happens in reality.... Hmm.... A separate apps screen is stupid and if Apple releases something like that, I'll still think it's stupid. Why over-complicate it? Not having an app list *IS* over complicating it. The clutter I see on some peoples iOS device is incredible. They don't even bother organizing it and just search for an app through spotlight. I always laugh when their wallpaper is a sentimental pic of something like their kids or family, but you can't see it because the pages and pages and pages of apps cover it all. This has been sorely needed ever since the App Store became a thing. Then on the opposite end you have users deleting apps because it clutters up their screen and they only use them a few times a week. Must have unlimited data or something to keep up that maintenance.4 points -

they should have done that on day 1 forcing people to use an unstable version of an already unstable OS just to test new device is stupid also they should stop changing name of BETAs everyone know what a BETA is, nobody ######ing know what INSIDER means, is it someone who is inside at microsoft? a special employee? this ###### confuse people; nobody willing to test their ###### if nothing is clear... BETA BETA BETA, everyone know what it is, even my grandma they should hire me, i'd do wonders for microsoft, the company is full of incompetent people without taste and without understanding of the current world we live in, they are way too corporate just look at apple, they understand what matters, remember their new iOS design? they used personification in order to market it, genius2 points -

I'm sure this is more of a test for them to see just how demand is there and if they can get a good chunk of money from pc gamers who don't bother with consoles. If it does well then I expect to see more games come over in time. I doubt Sony will do day and date releases for their games like ms is but I think we could see them 8 to 12 months later. Opinions are relative. People voted for the lesser trash . Problem is that Trump's opposition had qualities that repelled voters. During last decade lefties in the west adopted more censorship and ideology forcing methods, which I saw back in Soviet Union. This was expected, because millions of people, brainwashed by soviet regime with collectivism ideology, flushed into the west after collapse of USSR. Also, millions of people, who benefited from China's CCP rule, are flooding the west now. I think it will get worse, because west is full of people who think that they are going to make world a better place if they make all collective to think like them.1 point -

Twitter starts labeling tweets with misleading content as 'manipulated media'
waysidesc reacted to mip for a topic
Sigh. I'm not saying it will for sure happen that way. But it's not a ridiculous thought, from the left or right side of the aisle. I assume these labels will be applied by humans. And most humans are definitely going to put more time and effort into finding out if a clip that goes against their personal agenda was manipulated, than they will with a clip that confirms their viewpoints. That's not political, it's just human. I'm not saying even an active "I will not mark this as manipulated even though it is" decision, as much as "eh I'm gonna just leave that tweet in the queue and do another one instead" lack of action. I mean it's a pretty cut and dry tag... was the media manipulated or altered to something that distorts what actually happened? Did you read the last part of my comment? (genuine question, I edited it). I'm not saying people will deliberately mislabel things. But Twitter as an organization has shown bias in the past. And like I said simple lack of action, be it intentional or not, can easily create problems (just as an example, not saying that scenario specifically would happen). But as I said, I'm not saying this will happen. I'm just saying it's not a completely ridiculous thought to have. I understand what you're saying, I just don't see it happening. This particular tweet is already being covered in national news cycles. Peers would be screaming as loud as they could if there was actual abuse. Censorship is constantly called out by the right on platforms like YouTube, until others on the left state plenty of their videos have also been removed/censored. It seems like the big players are pretty consistent with their moderation polices. Fair enough.1 point -

The only huge plus I'd give Tesla is they'll get you whatever car you want instead of whatever happens to be on the lot. I've custom ordered every new car I've owned. My current vehicle, a Jeep, was built to spec per my order sheet... down to the options and accessories I wanted. It just takes 2-3 weeks longer to get than buying one straight off the lot.1 point -

kenhes reacted to Paul1979UK for a topic
Tesla might have got the ball rolling with electric cars but we need the big boys like Volkswagen to push more aggressively on electric cars because they can produce far more per year that actually make a difference in the market. Tesla's numbers are still too small to have a real impact but they are big enough to get others moving and that is when the electric car revolution really kicks off, after all, the others can't Ignore Tesla like they could others in the past that only produce like 100 cars and even then demanding they crush them once the law changed lol. Mind you, it does seem like Volkswagen are pushing more aggressively on electric cars now that they got a good spanking from governments so it's all looking good.1 point -

I mean it's a pretty cut and dry tag... was the media manipulated or altered to something that distorts what actually happened? Not everything is a conspiracy. I'd also imagine a video that is created or shared by a high profile person is subject to more scrutiny than a bot or regular user account that has no real impressions/impact. I'm not sure why alt facts and outright falsehoods are suddenly being accepted the last few years, and then when procedures are put in place to combat it, it's called out as censorship. It's just outright ridiculous, and continues to dumb down society. There's a point where both sides have to sit back and realize that they've got some growing up to do if they can't accept truth and verifiable facts and instead spin it as fake news. Or attack procedures that attempt to clean up this nonsense. If one has to continually call truths fake news, then maybe they need to really evaluate, take a real hard look at what it is their exactly supporting. There's a point where any sane person would have start thinking that gee, all these sources and people are saying the same thing about something I'm calling fake news, with verifiable counterpoints and facts... and start to wonder. Then again, most can't seem to admit they're wrong and use the fake news call out as a security blanket to make them feel better about themselves. Pathetic really.1 point -
