lots of stuff... but in his position the public rarely gets to see it Didn't know. I thought he might have been just a figure head. I figured he already did the charity stuff full time. Bill is the only super rich that I know use his own money for good causes around the world.

  8. Great overview. Actually learned some new things here. Two more upcoming improvements I'm curious about: multi-monitor DWM improvements and WDDM 2.7. Both arrive in 20H1/2004, but have only heard little bits.

  10. Hoarding toilet paper?

"Hoarding also makes people feel secure." yes, SIMPLETONS ONLY! and they are making life difficult, for people who genuinely ran out of needed supplies, and did not expect a bunch of idiots to buy 200+ roll in one sitting because it make them "feel secure" a lot of families will NOT have sanitizer, because some Joe Schmoe is sitting on 100s of them. this is pure selfishness and shows the worst of human nature. this people need to be slapped and to wake up and realize we are all sailing though space on this little spaceship called earth. and that hoarding stuff, not only does not really help you, it HURTS OTHERS!

  12. Great comment, I had no idea something like using a Linux desktop would be possible on Windows. It still feels like in terms of UI there is very little progress considering the amount of resources MS has. How does it take so long to move stuff from the old control panel to work in the new one?

  14. He has 17,700 Bottles of Hand Sanitizer and Nowhere to Sell Them

I just got done reading the whole article, and I do not feel bad for him at all. He bought something for $5 and sold it for $50, that is price gouging, I do not care what you think it is, it is gouging 100%, making ~$40 profit on something...

  15. Well, if you're going to rip off people by selling them for between $8 and $70, you're a greedy punk and you're getting what you deserve. Greed makes people do things that are so stupid.

  17. Hoarding toilet paper?

I do NOT understand why you will hoard toilet paper. Granted I can understand tinned food will be useful once you are quarantined at home. But toilet paper?? It looks like no one is going to shower at home. Buy soap and stock it. For goodness sake, in India and Japan, you wash off instead of wipe I believe people are being dumb and irrational on this toilet paper hoarding. Only buy what you will need

  21. Microsoft is rebranding UI Fabric to Fluent UI

UI Fabric, Fluent UI, Stardust.... Fluent UI is the only one I've even heard of, and I have zero idea how any of them relate to each other. Pretty sure that's Microsoft's fault, not mine.

  26. Very disappointed with the Cortana downgrades. If Microsoft wants people to use Cortana, wouldn't you try to enhance it by making it more useful? Removing functionality hurts existing users and is unlikely to entice potential users. The new productivity improvements for Cortana are probably nice, but why not expand the skill sets? I thought Microsoft wanted to be on the forefront of newish tech? It's hard to be taken seriously if parts of the ecosystem are being deprecated rather than being expanded upon.

  29. There is a lot attached to the WDDM 2.7 and DX12 features in general in this release. This is the first build to include several kernel level updates in a few years, and this also allows for these new features to work or work better. Look for things like DXR 2, AI/WinML features, lower refresh latency, along with new and existing features from the XBox One/Series X super-set of DirectX12. This adds in the newer versions of adaptive resolutions, scaling, sampling locations, and FPS stabilization. This is good for professional PC Gamers, as one thing the XBox and DX12 in general has done better is having fewer FPS dumps via the framework and the NT kernel managing the CPU and GPU cores for thermal loads better than Vulkan and the PS4 can. One specific - DXR - Ray Tracing previously was designed around a few basic rendering concepts with AI targeting zero performance loss at 60fps - which it does well on the current RT enabled games. The problem was timing as it was debuting at a time when many gamers were moving on to 120-240fps gaming, and thus 60fps DXR Ray Tracing isn't enough. DXR 2.0 targets higher fps Ray Tracing and new render variations with even bi-directional paths for better caustics and FPS targeted optimizations to use the higher refresh rates to get better RT results. I know a lot of people are not DXR/RT fans (especially with the BS from NVidia trying to con people into believing it is their technology). However, for game visual quality to move forward, we need EASIER and more accurate lighting, and we are at the point that some variation of Ray Tracing (Path/Branch/etc) is the only way forward. A good RT'd scene at 1080p can look 100x better than a 4K or 8K image - pixels do not equal higher quality when the current lighting and textures look fake/false. I wish some site would do a deep dive on WDDM 2.7 and DXR 2.0 and the other new GPU/Kernel features in 20H1. I was noticing the other day, that really cool features like multi-GPU rendering features are often not noticed or referenced by the people in the industry that follow games and graphic technologies. One developer from a major AAA game didn't even realize the game on DX12 seamlessly would use several GPUS, with Windows 10/DX12 SMP GPU rendering features that are essentially automatic.

  30. Good. Hopefully he makes a loss, it's unfortunate people like him aren't charged in situations like this. You've got to be a pretty ###### person if your first thought is to buy up all the hand sanitizer to make a profit while people are trying to minimize the spread of a virus killing thousands. Deluded.

  34. Star Trek: Picard (CBS All Access)

Unless they time travel back to 13th century or prior, I dont know how. Voyager established that the borg were at least expanding in the delta quadrant at this time near the vaadwaur empire. The only way control could be borg influenced would be if Starfleet was using the sphere wreckage from first contact. I do hope we get some borg origin stories going though, there always seems to be a human component tossed around during their discussions of their creation.

  43. Hoarding toilet paper?

The issue is that people are only hoarding toilet paper because they are told everyone else is. Water, canned food, dried food would all seem like more logical things to hoard but the herd have decided toilet paper is the one thing you can't live without!?

  48. Edge Dev build 82.0.446.0 is out with Collections improvements

Yes... But for people really needing this feature, check out 'Add all Tabs to Favorites' - it mimics the functionality nearly 100% with the exception that the user has to name the tabs/folder when saving them. It’s a poor substitute. For starters the tabs aren’t favourites, as setting tabs aside is generally a temporary measure. It clogs up your Favourites. And can they be as quickly dismissed as a set that you’re done with?

  49. Edge Dev build 82.0.446.0 is out with Collections improvements

Is Collections unique to Edge or part of Chromium? I’m assuming the latter as I’m at a loss as to why they wouldn’t instead work on a straight copy over of Set Tabs Aside?
