Over 40 demos for upcoming games go free on Steam for the weekend
dustojnikhummer and 2 others reacted to Louisifer for a topic
These are mostly demos for games coming this summer or later. Steam is helping the devs get exposure because the events are cancelled, no one can play the demos at their booths. Usually the public wouldn't see these demos as they potentially have bugs or still a work in progress and features are subject to change.3 points -

Mozilla set to remove FTP support from Firefox
timster and one other reacted to Brandon H for a topic
I thought they had already pulled support but I must be thinking of Chrome. There's really no reason to have FTP support inside a browser anymore. Like the article states, it's a security concern. If you really need to access an FTP it's better to use a dedicated client. Plus unsecured FTP really should be avoided now a days anyway, better to use FTPS or sFTP for an encrypted connection which the browsers didn't support anyway I don't believe.2 points -

Android Advanced Protection now limits non-Play Store app installs
George P and one other reacted to Mobius Enigma for a topic
This would be better if they could secure the Play Store Apps that are full of malware, or that get malware through man in the middle attacks when installed. (A bug that has been in Android and Play Store since 2009.) Seriously, how is this helpful? It 'looks' better than it is, as most malware is delivered through the Store and trusted Apps. There are major Play Store App Malware stories almost every day. XYZ infected 2 millions users - ABCD infected 10 million users - etc.2 points -

not always, but in this case it's very true. download hosts have been being advised for several years now to move away from hosting downloads on FTP and move them to at least HTTP if not HTTPS. Chrome already dropped FTP support a couple years ago and hasn't had any backlash about it. As I said in my post above, if you really need to access an FTP server just use a dedicated client. Keep the insecurities away from web view.1 point -

Microsoft Teams got 12 million new users in the past week
DaveSharp reacted to Jason S. for a topic
Teams, in its current form, is awful. There's too much clutter on screen. if you want to see a presentation you have to move or minimize everything else. there's no easy way to see the chat function so users always miss msgs. Teams will also save every conversation or Team you have by default. if you did something a month ago, it's still there! you have to manually leave each Team. Once you do, it's still there! you then have to "hide" the Team or conversation. then there's always suggested contacts in the way. it's ridiculous.1 point -

Edge's Dev and Canary versions now let you add multiple tabs to new collection
Dwarfkilla reacted to tboggs13 for a topic
They are moving pretty quick with the features the last few weeks. On Canary the only thing I see missing for PDF is Contents (scheduled), highlighting text and touch markup. Other than that the menus are now identical. It covers what I use it for. They have just released Extension and collections syncing. I mean they are just getting warmed up. I love it even with the few missing things, because it just works so much better with the sites I visit. It's nice to have a browser that developers will actually support.1 point -

Sony shares full specifications of the PlayStation 5
drjekel_mrhyde reacted to George P for a topic
So, that bloomberg article about Sony having issues with cooling, 100% true after what they've listed. They're pushing that GPU to the max at that clock rate and only 36 CUs, in a mad dash to get closer to XSX as they can. That things going to run hot and they know it, thus the whole variable frequency on both the GPU and the CPU. Once your system gets a bit hot expect it to down clock taking your performance with it. In contrast MS made a point to say that it's clock speeds are fixed and don't change, they have more faith in their cooling system it seems.1 point -
