Best Buy is a very good store. Prices are the same or better than competitors, big selection, and they even sell PC Parts. Just order it online, walk in, put it up, and walk out. No 2 day shipping...2 points -

Digital was always an issue to me - I want to buy games and play them..when I'm done after a few months resell them. I shouldn't be forced to stay locked to a game even if I downloaded it. I should be able to sell the key/license I purchased as it is mine.2 points -

Gamestop will probably be out of business by the end of the year. Their bread and butter used game business has been on a steady decline for years. Now that people are stuck at home more and more are probably going digital for the first time.2 points -

Large items (such as HDTVs and major appliances) are STILL reason to shop at Best Buy - as much as I shop at Amazon, I won't shop there for either class of item due to shipping issues; instead, I shop for the HDTVs at Best Buy - other major appliances (such as "white goods"), I purchase at Home Depot and Lowe's (which I can see at some point adopting a similar policy to Best Buy - despite that both have corporate customers).1 point -
GameStop finally closes all storefronts to customers
Nick H. reacted to George P for a topic
I don't know GameStop other than from the Internet, but from the sounds of things they've been scrabbling to stay in business for a while...could this be the final nail in the coffin? Could be, only time will tell at this point. I really wonder where the next gen will take us, I think we're going to run out of room on UHD BD discs, maybe games will start to ship on multiple discs again? I just think at some point down the line no ones going to really bother with reselling their games to someone else. Services like game pass for example, and streaming to a degree, mean people won't get stuck with games they might only play a few times and leave to collect dust.1 point -

Doom Eternal, playing it through on Nightmare and really enjoying it so far, difficulty is a step up from 2016 and the combat is even better. Not a huge fan of the spiderman sections nor having the chainsaw be such a core part of ammo management, but overall a solid 9/10 game. Still kind of playing Ori 2 and Nioh 2 too, so many good games recently (and upcoming), haven't been interested in many games the last few years but now there's 8-9 coming out all this year!1 point -

Disney+ to launch in EU on March 24 with reduced video quality, France launch delayed
testman reacted to limok for a topic
it's more about managing the traffic. as of now many family are killing time by internet, youtube+netflix. however this is saturating the network. which makes hard for everyone working from home to connect to their work. personally i see big latency in speed even if i have 300mb/s. that simply because entire planet is sitting and exploding the network. ISP's have said they can meet demand. They are not seeing more than what they normally get during peak hours. Set default streaming to normal but give us the option to watch in full quality.1 point -

stadii reacted to RejZoR for a topic
I don't get it why everyone supports lazy ISP's who oversell their infrastructure. When China had virus thing going on I haven't heard anyone saying they'll lower quality of streaming services, but Europe, for some reason has to. WHY? Will they refund the difference to all the people who pay 4K plans but will have lower quality coz reasons? Demand ISP's to fulfill the ###### they are selling instead of giving them slack. Damn.1 point -
GM partners with Ventec Life Systems to increase ventilator production
random_n reacted to PGHammer for a topic
I have to agree, even thought China didn't want this to get out at first, it got out and we've had lots of warning since January, and yet we've been slow to respond to it, more so in the EU and US which many governments are dragging their feet on it to protect the economy. We are also seeing where there isn't enough cooperation going on from the EU to its members and from the US with its states, I think if countries worked around the world a lot closer on this, it wouldn't be as damaging as it seems to be now. Ian bremmer, Bill gates, etc have been saying for a long time that we can't resolve global problems with national solutions. We need new higher levels of government that cross borders and have actual power. You are talking globalism and even larger governments - let me remind you that larger governments (not alone that of the United States) get bogged down in bureaucratic red tape; the US reacted quicker than usual, given the size OF that government; how fast did the EU react, let alone the member states? (Ask the Italians and Germans; they were slower than the Americans.) The US got whacked for not being as fast as the nations with far SMALLER governments (such as the RoK); however, the EU was slower (by far) than even the US; atop that, the US got pounded over HOW it reacted, despite the admission that it did the right thing.1 point -

SpaceX Super Heavy and Starship updates
anthdci reacted to DocM for a topic
👍 To build the Super Heavy booster they'll use many of the same rings, domes and other parts from Starship - a high degree of commonality. That said, the engine bay will be very different, possibly 10+ meters instead of 9 meters and with 6 fin/legs. High Bay 2 will give them a work space, platforms, and elevators high enough to stack the 70 meter (230') tall Super Heavy first stage. This is the same height as fully stacked Falcon 9 or Heavy. Musk recently tweeted the full stack, Super Heavy + Starship, will be 120 meters (393' 8.4"). Now add a launch platform & thrust diverter up to 30 meters tall.1 point -

Had to put Black Mesa on pause for now (about an hour into Xen). Xen, btw, looks really nice. Now playing Doom Eternal ... it looks and runs great. My only issue is all of the platforming. I mean...holy crap...it's almost like Mirror's Edge. Also, you can burn through your "extra lives" really quick in some areas ... if you get into a situation without lower tier possessed and no ammo.1 point -

Exactly. while I have not seen VR... I suspect it's kind of like 3D for movies, mostly a fad. I would rather invest in a better GPU than blow it on some VR BS. There's people who already have a baller PC that have cash to burn and want to try something new or can just afford the whole thing in the first place. I wouldn't make a statement like this until I've tried it, at least stay curious about it if it's new to you.1 point -
