Best Buy switches to curbside pickup service, will only permit employees inside stores
dead.cell and 2 others reacted to shockz for a topic
Best Buy refocused it’s efforts to mobile, home theater and home appliances. You can still get a computer there but by far it’s it’s lower on the priority list for them. That and the fact that they have amazing pricing on their appliances and good deals on mobile. I for one continue to shop there, as it’s good to see a product before purchasing, and they price match amazon. And if something were to go wrong, it’s way easier packing it up and swapping it out down the road than having to ship it back to amazon and wait for a replacement.3 points -

Were... were you unaware of the massive and sudden demand for hardware to allow people to remote work? Were...were you unaware people aren't buying iPhones to facilitate remote work? These limits were to prevent people from trying to resell the devices, I suspect the limits were on more than just iPhones and iPads but the CNBC article doesn't really specify if that was the case or not. It is not really clear the reason the limit was increased. As you point out, neither of those devices, are likely being used to "work from home" scenarios.2 points -

Nvidia launches Deep Learning Super Sampling 2.0 to boost AI rendering
GSDragoon reacted to RejZoR for a topic
Still pointless imo. NVIDIA needs to figure out how to run DLSS the same way FXAA, DSR, Image Sharpen or any other their generic feature. So it's game agnostic and can be applied to ANY game. Then I'd lose my ###### from excitement. Just imagine having performance boost with great image quality. But until then, it just won't get traction because you need GeForce card and developers have to specifically code it into the game. Which, unless NVIDIA shilled title, most won't even do it...1 point -

Why is Amazon bad? Never had an issue and anything I needed to returned, no issue there either. More than once I've gotten items that were clearly used when sold as new. Worst amazon experience: Last year we ordered a Samsung Soundbar (sold directly from Amazon, as new), received item, opened it up and the bar was literally bent in the middle, and would not lay flat. Finger prints, marks near the ports. We needed it working the next day, as we were hosting a superbowl party. Went to Best Buy, got the exact same model (on sale actually, for $40 bucks less), opened it up and we could tell how used the one from Amazon was... all the shrink wrap, sticky tape covering the plastics, etc... were not on the bar like they were from the one BestBuy had. I frequently receive items that were clearly opened, returned from them. When it comes to expensive electronics, I'll usually get it from Best Buy or Micro Center. Huh, never had that issue on Amazon. You asked why amazon was bad, I provided an example. I got it. I just never had that issue and do not know who has. AT least Amazon's return policy is really good.1 point -

Huawei P40 Pro and P40 specs and renders leak, will feature up to 50x zoom
daniel_rh reacted to naap51stang for a topic
LOL 50X zoom...yeah...DIGITAL zoom. Not to mention the fact unless you steady it on a tripod or hold it against something, the software/hardware stabilization won't render a good shot. Plus, the digital zoom can be a pixel nightmare. But, as with faster processors, brighter and more dense displays, this is the latest "more of" that the phone makers have to get people to pony up more money for. Just get yourself a real camera, if you want that sort of zoom.1 point -
Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 review: It's everything I wish Wear OS would be
Jazmac reacted to naap51stang for a topic
I don't understand why they took away the MFT ability on the newer watch? I guess people don't use it as much as NFC. I've had the Gear 3 Frontier almost 2 years. By disabling AOD, flip your wrist to wake up & rotate the bezel to wake up, I typically get 3-4 days of battery life. Double tap to wake is good enough. I use it for a ton of notifications, heart, walking, sleep, 10 minute period for HR check, and other than taking it off for a shower, I wear it 24/7. Great watch, love it. (no samsung phone either...but couples easily with my One Plus 7T)1 point -

Or for those who have a VR headset they can use their current VR headset and buy 50$ valve game... wow who'd have thought that you don't have to buy a new VR headset for each VR game.... WOW1 point -

Doom Eternal, playing it through on Nightmare and really enjoying it so far, difficulty is a step up from 2016 and the combat is even better. Not a huge fan of the spiderman sections nor having the chainsaw be such a core part of ammo management, but overall a solid 9/10 game. Still kind of playing Ori 2 and Nioh 2 too, so many good games recently (and upcoming), haven't been interested in many games the last few years but now there's 8-9 coming out all this year!1 point -

Android Advanced Protection now limits non-Play Store app installs
waysidesc reacted to adrynalyne for a topic
Why would you enrol development devices in Advanced Protection?? What if I told you...not all testers are using development devices? That's bad practice then. If someone so clearly disregards best practices (of everything) what do they want with Advanced Protection? Advanced Protection is for people who want to follow security best practices. Its not worth arguing with you. So much ignorance flying around here these days. I am a security professional and you are obviously not. I'm not the ignorant one. Let me make it clear if it wasn't: you are complaining that by activating a strict security setting, you are not allowed to use unsecure options. A security professional that knows f all about software development, especially when it comes to mobile and testing. Also, I didn’t complain about anything. Are security professionals taught to read? Developers have been left for too long on their own, "unbothered" by security (requirement, policies, etc), and that's obvious by reading posts like these. But "we've" realized that already, and there is a much bigger focus on security conscious development practices now (like SecDevOps). If' you ask me, there's not enough happening there, but we are on the right way. LOL, Apple AND Google are setup for and designed their developer process and dashboards around the testing I am referring to. Just stop. You really have no clue what you are talking about and you are arguing a moot point about security which in this case it has nothing to do with it (hence my original comment). *Sigh* I said I wasn’t going to waste my time arguing with you and here I am.1 point -
