  1. Netflix is currently down, mostly in Europe and the U.S.

Yesterday evening I contemplated watching a download copy of Better Call Saul in 1080p because of this cutting back to SD bullcrap .. but I checked Netflix first anyway and was pleasantly surprised to get the latest episode in UltraHD 4K. I don't watch a lot of Netflix, but I am not going to go on there to watch content in SD thank you very much. Oh and I also don't like being made to feel guilty at the "strain" of the network after the years of vast expense I pay to enjoy all of this content online, if the providers prefer to pay out shareholders before updating their infrastructure to cope with demand then that is not on me.

It isn't in MXPI? Isn't dnf Fedora/Red Hat ... while MX would use dpkg or apt since it is Debian based? I don't really use Linux anymore...so I could be very much wrong...but I thought the command lines were different depending on distro. Edit: Moved to the Linux forum.

  16. So you like the phone your wife already has, but will not buy it yourself because someone said it's not good? Does your wife have any complaints? Why do you like it if she does? I'm totally fine with my Exynos Galaxy Note 10. I'm not sure I'll buy a new Note this year (depends on features), but my next phone will definitely be another Galaxy Note bought here in Europe. come on, it's not so hard to figure out what I meant. But I will explain what I meant. the phone has a really solid feel in your hands and looks quite good. Unfortunately hardware based face detection is missing and I would have been happy if this years phones already came with Bluetooth 5.2 (that will make loosing the audio jack more bearable). Other than that it has I guess everything I need from a phone. Supports wireless Android Auto, wireless charging, etc. The software got much much better than if was a couple of years ago, everything feels natural somehow. All the sounds and vibrations that it makes are also really well done. But knowing that it is inferior to the Snapdragon version version (CPU and GPU performance, battery life and even photo quality) and the other Snapdragon phones that will come out this year, I will not buy it. I will not support this practice. Thanks, now I get it: you would be happy to have it couple of weeks ago, but now as someone said it's inferior - you are not. Is your wife not happy with her phone now, as she knows it's inferior to Snapdragon version? Also do you think Samsung should use camera sensors from Sony worldwide as it uses in US, as it's said in petition? /s

Agreed they can **** right off with their network cannot cope ######. If a network can't cope then there should be a law that the government should get all the business minus any debts including all profits and can spend that on making the infrastructure not suck. I pay for BT at 2 locations, same price, I get 55Mbit down at one and 16Mbit down if I'm lucky at the other... 'oh it is your distance from the exchange' they fob me off with on support tickets, my neighbour gets 33Mbit and his socket is about 3 meters away from mine.

  24. There's no need to remove tablet mode, the above change isn't to tablet mode anyways. It's a small tweak to the desktop when you switch to touch only by taking your kb+mouse/touchpad off your 2-in-1 device. And app snapping is just a evolution of stuff that's been around since Windows 7 or maybe even Vista. Why remove it? You can use it on your desktop without issue if you want to set apps side by side or 4x4 etc.
    1 point
  25. A have a feeling that the full "tablet mode" that's in 10 right now is going to go away and instead they'll use that as a way to introduce the new 10X UI/Shell to desktop Windows. This would allow uses to get used to the new UI on single screen tablets and 2-in-1s etc. After a while I then expect it to become a default UI option in desktop 10 to. Sometime down the line MS will pull the switch and the rest will be history.

  27. I've been seeing this type of comment more and more and I'm honestly very confused by this sentiment. You chose a hard difficulty and are complaining that the game is too hard and that its somehow the games fault. I'll try to address some of your points, and I'll preface by saying I beat the game on the highest difficulty: -Ammo management - I'd say is a big plus and is a balancing act and a test of resource management, compared to the last game where you never had any ammo issues even on the hardest difficulty. -Platforming - for the most part - very short sections that act to slow down the action a bit since it can be pretty draining to have constant fights. It's a personal preference I guess, though I will say that older DOOM titles have had a lot of platforming and I don't agree that it doesn't belong in a DOOM game. -Upgrade path - Sure, there are some early upgrades that are more beneficial than others, esp. considering your playstyle but, again, you should consider these more carefully since you are playing on harder difficulty. Also weakspots are there to weaken an enemy to ease up the challenge but are not needed to kill said enemy and can basically be ignored on lower difficulties. -Story - again personal preference, though i will mention that all cutscenes can be easily skipped if you aren't interested (I thought it was pretty decent IMHO). I realize I may sound too obnoxious, and I'm sorry if I am, but I honestly believe you expected the game to play like DOOM 2016 when it doesn't. The game requires a different approach and is much more challenging then its predecessor, and instead of adapting, you try to pick out flaws in its design. Again, sorry if I sound rude, I'm just trying to figure out why a lot of people share your views on this.

  28. I was severely disappointed by the game. Severe ammo management (you get 24 shotgun ammo at max ammo upgrades) and platforming have no place in a Doom game (imo). And as if that wasn't enough they designed the game in a way where you have to play specifically how they want you to which means if you didn't choose the right upgrade (you picked micro missile instead of zoom? Good luck taking out those weak spots) at the right time then the game is unnecessarily tough (I was already playing on one of the higher difficulties). And then to top of it all off the story didn't add anything to the game just like I thought wouldn't. It was just irritating and got in the way. People keep telling me "it gets good later" but my reply to that is why should I suffer through hours of tedious game play to get to the good parts? That's horrible game design. I refunded it after about 3 hours and I know I'm not the only one that did so. tldr; there is too much ###### in between you and demon slaying and the pacing is inconsistent which makes the game a slog

  31. My guess: it's MS doing MS-things - MS has NEVER supported a newer version of OpenGL 1.1! If I remember correctly they even strip(ed?) OpenGL from drivers that are distributed via Windows Update...

  32. Sounds like the molex is needed. Easiest would be to get a sata power duplicator and then get a sata power to molex power converter and plug it in. If you have a spare floppy power cable then you could get a converter for that to molex.

  44. Because the average height of a 4 year old is under 4 feet tall. Easy to tell between adult and a kid at that height. Even in a Split Second. And no four-year-old will be running around 11:30 p.m. at night banging on people's doors. It is a silly hypothetical.

  45. I don't care whether it's nice or not. I'm arguing that the guy presented a situation where it came acress as there was a sustained threat. They created that entire situation and the way it looked and felt. Does someone carrying a replica firearm deserve to be dealt with the same way as someone carrying a real one? Same argument - the situation is presented and dealt with as real. If I wake up in the night and find someone trying to break into my house, I take my baseball bat to them. They aren't given a chance to turn around and shout "Ha just kidding".

  46. The question comes down to how close is too close? In pistol training there's an exercise called the Tueller Drill. Developed by a tactical officer it's been tested on Mythbusters and found valid. The drill measures at what distance a given trainee can make a shoot/no-shoot decision and fire at a knife or melee (physical) attacker approaching from the front and mostly evade injury. The rule of thumb is 21 feet/6.4 meters. In testing the Tueller Drill Mythbusters came up with 20 feet/6.1 meters. Pick one. The average closing time from 21 feet/6.4 meters is only 1.5 seconds. And this is in daylight. In the dark it's double-tough. If the approach comes from the sides or behind, it's even worse. The bottom line is this homeowner had almost zero time to determine this out of the blue charging persons intent and played it safe. The fool who stormed someone at night, in the US - where in some places 10% of adults carry a firearm, made a huge mistake. Worthy of a Darwin Award.

  47. I'm not a gun owner I'm not really a gun defender I personally believe there are some major flaws in America's gun system that need addressing I personally believe there are some major flaws in America's gun culture that need addressing BUT This guy had his cage rattled once. Then it happened again. Then a guy jumped out of the bushes at him on his property. Anyone would react. Your reaction may differ from mine. Mine would certainly involve a weapon (I carry a baseball bat when needed because hey it's the UK, what you gonna do). People's reactions and weapons differ from place to place and culture to culture. Did he physically react out of panic? Quite probably. But that's a valid reaction! Sorry, I have sympathy for the shooter, not the guy who jumped out of the bushes.

  48. I can't believe I'm writing this, but I agree with the others on this situation. As I mentioned earlier, with a penchant to own a gun in a country where you are allowed why would it not be the first thing you go for if you feel in danger? I'd probably go for a baseball bat myself but have the gun close-by if I owned one. The fault was the son-in-law's. He knew where he was flying to, he knew the risks of gun ownership and he should have realized that the combination of his actions was going to have dangerous consequences. The father-in-law will blame himself for what happened and he will have to live with it for the rest of his life. But from the information in the article I feel sorry for him.

  49. let me be the devils advocate here for a second. The guy from Norway JUMPS out of the shadow to surprise and startle a guy he's never met, that is NOT normal behavior. You don't jump out and surprise someone who you have never met before let alone to someone you have met before. Let's pretend, it wasn't the husband but some deranged criminal looking to stab him. Man runs at him from the shadow , how long does this man have to react? I'm sorry, but don't just the **** out of the shadow at someone if you don't want to be potentially shot.

  50. Please. 🙄 Not only am I *not* a republican, but I am a gun owner and believe in stand your ground. Both of which require common sense for responsible people. You clearly don’t even understand what stand your ground is. If you don’t know what you are talking about, you would be best off avoiding typing something to make you look ignorant and instead just learn about the subject first. That said, the Sheriff is a damn moron. Charged absolutely are warranted. Accident or not, that is not a legal shooting. Stand your ground doesn’t mean you can kill someone for scaring you.
