I understand that the current issues migh eventually bankrupt a lot of companies. However, probably a fair number will use it as an excuse to file for bankrupcy, get out of some payments, and eventually buy the same assets under a different corporation...2 points -

What's baffling, this isn't something new. It's amazing how ignorant and clueless people are on this matter. Everyone outraged for this one app for some reason. Guess what, ALL apps on app stores are riddled with this garbage. Facebook Graph, Facebook Connect, Google Analytics, Google Crashlytics and bunch of other analytics and telemetry components in apps and no one states anything about their presence or any control over it to turn it off. It's just there, hidden in basically all apps and people simply don't know about it. Where is outrage for the rest of them? Eh? If you run Blokada on Android or Disconnect Privacy Pro and you'll be amazed how much of this crap tries to call "home" from all the apps we use. I have NextDNS blocking setup on my devices and the amount of blocked junk is insane. All my logs are filled with Google and Facebook and I don't even use ANYTHING from EITHER. That's insane and shouldn't exist. I'm amazed how loud Apple is about privacy and constantly dictates how things should be done on their app store yet don't care about the analytics and telemetry crap in all apps hosted on App Store. Basically no app gives control over this and most don't even state whether they have such components. And even if they do, it's not like you have any options when all of them have this junk inside.2 points -
OnePlus will finally add always-on display to its phones
stadii and one other reacted to PGHammer for a topic
Pixels have had it since Oreo; same with the Galaxy S - both allow it to be turned off. (It is in custom ROMs, too; LineageOS has it as of LineasgeOS 16, and is retained in the current 17.1.) In other words, I've had it in my last two phones - what is OnePlus' excuse for NOT having it?2 points -

Doing ok myself. I had a little issue with a coworker being out sick and coming in contact with his GF would tested positive for COVID. Luckily he tested negative and after 4 days or so, I was able to go back to work today. Luckily I can work remotely and my income was not changed. My job is considered essential. Currently I am watching over my 95 year old grandfather. I shop for him, take care of his household needs as well. My dad came back from TN a week ago after helping to rebuild after a tornado. They had COVID down there so he is isolating himself for 2wks. 1wk to go. So I am doing what I can for my parents as well as siblings who are without jobs or had their hours/pay cut. I buy what I need and a little extra. That is it. I am more than happy to give what I need to those who need it more. And like I said in the other COVID thread, I encourage everyone here to do what they can for their friends, family, or just someone you see who needs assistance. Only way to get through this tough time is to come together and ignore the negativity and pessimism being spread around. Take care, be safe, and watch out for yourself and others.2 points -

Netflix to reduce streaming quality in Australia, India and some Latin American countries
matthiew and one other reacted to adrynalyne for a topic
Thing is, you still have 4K. But at lower bitrates. Yes, it sucks, I agree. I'm just saying, Netflix can use this argument as defense against these types of complaints. Ok so let say for example they say after all this, let's keep this bitrate and charge customers the same? Would you be ok with that? This goes to both you and @Steve121178 [Junk] I paid for a particular service, I expect that service. If the product changes for the better or worse then I'm happy to pay accordingly. I don't keep going to a restaurant every week expecting the same meal for the same price and all of a sudden they remove the sides but keep the price the same. I don't want to hear their excuses about the flu v2.0. They have the bandwidth, counties/ISPs have it too. If not, then they should upgrade their equipment/backhaul. This is just a knee jerk reaction to save a couple of bucks, plain and simple. Same as Facebook and YouTube etc. For gods sake...cry me a river. This is due to something WORLDWIDE. Stop blabling If this is freaking you out and you're mad about it....man, I really don't know what to say than there are other important things in life considering this is only for a moment. If it is a big deal..decide with your wallet. Stop whinning, take action , you're a grown man in a capitalist world. Don't pay for it...simple as that. Jesus, you just don't get it. It's a matter of principle. They provide a service for a set price. Don't alter it and charge the same. Sounds like you'd be fine if they just cut the quality in half and keep charging you the same account. GG capitalist world *ROLLS EYES* Obvious solution of course, is to complain on Neowin, instead of canceling.2 points -

So something like this could work https://www.amazon.com/710661-001-Intel-Wireless-ac-7260-Pci-express/dp/B00PDLCFL8 This would be a replacement internal card that could do AC.. Keep in mind you need to validate it will work with your laptop.. Some makers blacklist in bios, but quick google shows that should work with HP laptops..1 point -

Well no your never going to get 100/100 with that 72 mbps connection both rx and tx.. Your card is only connected at 2.4 your on channel 11.. So no there is no way you will see 100 mbps with that connection.. That your seeing 50 is amazing.. I would say more like 43 would be good at 60% phy... You need to get new wireless card for your laptop, either a new internal one.. Or some usb stick - see the one I linked too.1 point -

+Warwagon reacted to Jim K for a topic
Well ... this would be the second card he has tried. Resetting CMOS didn't help. Light stays lit by "VGA" on the board indicating an issue. So...unless he is incredibly unlucky and got two bad cards: Maybe the PCIe slot on the board is bad? Try the other PCIe slot. Sure, it is only x4 speed ... but that will help rule out video card vs. motherboard. If you get video move it back to the PCIe x16 ... if you don't get video RMA the motherboard. If no video on either PCIe slots ... guess it might be time to RMA that video card ... third time is a charm. The obligatory ... could be a PSU issue.1 point -

Samsung Galaxy S20 reportedly selling a lot less units than the Galaxy S10

There's no way you can make this claim. Covid is slowing down sales of everything and has been for some time. But true it is also an overpriced phone with the ultra model having a broken camera auto focus that still isn't fixed.1 point -

Agreed in part. I just purchased a s10 (waiting on it to arrive) even though it's more phone than I really need, but it's $400aud less than the lowest s20. It's still twice the cost on any phone I've ever owned though.. But with Covid-19 crippling economies around the world, and with daily job losses mounting up, why would anyone in their right mind spend thousands on a phone with this uncertainty? Even a Pixel 3a will be beyond most peoples budgets after this all blows over.1 point -
