Yeah, but Samsung PR obviously tries its best to convince people otherwise. And they actually succeed, like this article clearly shows.

err.. what? Samsung's implementation of "Quantum Dot" is not really Quantum Dot. It's still using an LCD panel.

  11. "Although Apple promised to pay employees while they are not working, some workers informed Bloomberg that they were being urged by their managers to participate in the program" This is what I don't get, the company is paying you, why do you think you deserve a free holiday to get paid and do literally nothing? Same story in the UK, people will be getting 80% of their wage paid for by the government and not working which is fine to me, but then you get these ungrateful that are not staying at home or think it's a holiday to go and do whatever they please with... No, it's a pandemic emergency, follow the rules, and if your company is still paying you and they ask you to do something within your job role that's safe to do - FROM HOME, what valid reason do they have not to do it?

I did some digging. It seems that Samsung are moving the QD tech to use OLED panels instead, hence the shutting down of their LCD factories.

  23. I find it fascinating that Neowin is willingly reporting on and linking to material that can be pirated. Seriously, read the reddit post where he is thinking about uploading an entire episode. Looks like Google removed his clip upload from drive as well. That would would earn any member a warning and post removal, if not an outright ban.

  24. Apple acquires Dark Sky Weather app, kills Android version

Never heard of Windy until now, but it looks nice! The UI needs a little cleaning up to work better with the homebutton-less iPhones, but it's not a deal breaker. I'm also not seeing a radar future forecast, but maybe I haven't explored enough. Thanks for the recommendation! I've been using the TWC app, but it's plastered with ads and constantly nags about buying the paid version. Finally a reason to ditch it!

Do they actually have the Pulse Ox this time? I've had my Charge 3 since launch, and still don't have that feature. I'm not getting another Fitbit product ever - worst support ever, and they just lied about the Pulse Ox feature on the Charge 3.

  31. Microsoft Edge is getting vertical tabs, Password Monitor, and more

Tabs aside is 'collections' You can save all your open tabs in a window to a new or existing collection. Tab reviews is weird cause it is in Chrome for ages. Don't know why it is not in Edge. I want that custom background for the new tab page they have been talking about 'coming september 2019' Probably because it's NOT in Chromium by default. OR if it IS in chromium by default, Microsoft may have removed it initially to build in other Edge features. Chrome's Tab preview is a trash implementation. Not stable, uses alternative rendering crap, show and doesn't offer real-time functionality, making it significantly less useful. Microsoft wants a seamless rendering implementation like EdgeHTML; however, this is hard to tap into without a consistent OS accessible composer, which is a problem outside Windows and osx.

  35. Microsoft Edge is getting vertical tabs, Password Monitor, and more

Tab Preview is a must. I'm not so sure why Edge team is taking too much time to implement this one, while Vertical Tabs which is a significant UI change is coming soon. Tab Previews can work for both top and vertical tabs or even if they ever make a Tablet Mode UI for Edge. About Set Tabs Aside, I do miss this but since Collections gain a menu to add tabs in a collection, this essentially replaces Set Aside Tabs now, but Microsoft so far hasn't officially confirmed this. It just lacks a dedicated button like on Set Tabs Aside which I think they should put it as an option and market that this feature exist. Other Edge Legacy features that is hugely missing are the Windows Ink for Web pages, and Windows Timeline support.

  37. Ugh... Even if this game was completely free, it wouldn't be worth it. Gunplay, gameplay, environment, characters and story is so much dumber compared to Wildlands - which wasn't exactly a great game, but it was so much more fun to play.

Nice. This is proof that the combination of basing on Chromium, but having the flexibility to enhance outside of the rendering portion works as a model.

  45. Which MS Office for a one off purchase?

yes, Office 2016 or 2019 are your best bet for continued support if you must stay with the MS Office Suite. Both offer classic standalone licenses. (2019 will be the last standalone version I hear)

  46. Which MS Office for a one off purchase?

I probably would stay with Office 2010 ... Based on your experiences and usage ... it does not seem that you would need any thing more than Office 2010 ... The only issue about which I would be concerned is that all support for Office 2010 ends later this year ... If you must upgrade to a perpetual version for Windows 10 I would recommend Office 2019 ...

  48. Interesting. I wonder if it's still considered piracy if you have the DVD collection (paid for) and then remaster them to 4K yourself (I'm thinking of Stargate SG1) and don't distribute it.

  49. Which MS Office for a one off purchase?

The current version of Microsoft Office is a comprehensive set of cloud offerings paired with a set of desktop clients. NOT the other around. The stand-alone licenses are anachronistic and you forgo 2/3rds of the benefits and functionality. If you require simply to edit documents locally and forgo the cloud features then there are many free and low cost document editors out there: libreoffice.org, freeoffice, onlyoffice, etc. in fact, why use windows at all and simply use Linux.
