  4. Funny how many things get delayed right? More so how Microsoft fumbles in every possible way when it comes to mobile. Even before covid, these devices were struggling under development. It’s a real disappointment. Can’t help but laugh at how ridiculous it is. ... except its not a mobile OS and not a mobile device.

  11. Yes that looks amazing... And the second you put the case on it (and you will) it will make no difference Also never again LG - already trusted you a few times. Software is crap and then bootloop happen when I thought it was all but a myth. I am actually on Sony now after years of Samsung (and occasional LG) and I love it. Tried Moto but disliked the experience.

  27. Bootcamp has different drivers? I always assumed it was just Windows. Basically dual-boot so each operating system is completely separate. It is dual boot but the regular driver don't work on a bootcamp windows installation; they don't detect the card, so we are forced to wait. Interesting. I haven't used Bootcamp in years, but thought about trying it again. See if you have any luck using http://bootcampdrivers.com. Mat tries his best to make drivers from the regular ati drivers.

  28. Microsoft Teams handled 2.7 billion minutes of calls on March 31

Actually voice quality and connection stability on teams is impressive. This. Our morning meetings as we try to stay "connected" during this isolation have actually been great, using video too. I'm impressed, considering how bad Skype was by comparison...

  29. Book 3 and Go 2 should be on the way together. My real question is about Studio 2 actually. There was a crappy Surface Studio refresh last year. That was just a newer GPU right? So like a v1.5 really.

  30. COVID-19 tracking app reveals potential scale of the outbreak

The thought process that we can stop the spread of the virus is simply wrong. All we can do is delay it long enough to get medical facilities and supplies in place. This virus will spread - any chance for a vaccine is at least a year away, and even then, our capacity to make effective flu vaccines has not been very good. If you think that is my thought process, I am sorry. I am just thinking along the lines of "Stay the *#$@ indoors" and "Flatten the curve" so the vulnerable populace isn't put in harms way unnecessarily. But hey, everybody will die anyway somehow. Why don't people start putting guns to their heads, like right now? See my point? I do see your point, but those vulnerable people are the ones who should sequester themselves...the rest of society needs to get back to work. There is literally nothing else that can be done for those who are vulnerable. The only valid reason to "flatten the curve" is to allow stockpiling of medical supplies and time for facilities to get prepared. As soon as the quarantine is over, that curve is going exponential - and fast. And if you live with some of those vulnerable people? Perhaps you should stay separated, too. There's no easy answers, but the world can't stay shut down forever. I think much of the lockdown policies have been arbitrary or counter-productive anyway. The non-essential vs essential service thing is totally arbitrary from a practical perspective. It doesn't make much sense to shut down businesses that have one or two customers at a time, then allow people to crowd into packed supermarkets, hardware stores, Costcos, Walmarts, and Targets. And the panic buying at the beginning of the pandemic spread the disease faster than it would have spread otherwise. The numbers coming in so far show that countries following more relaxed protocols like Sweden, the Netherlands, and Japan, that have not shut down all non-essential businesses, appear to be doing just as well to flatten their curves and deal with the pandemic. Businesses can adapt to social distancing guidelines without shutting down. A lot of common sense is being lost IMO, and the most extreme policies have more of a moral purpose than a practical purpose. I don't know about other places but super markets here are not allowing more than a few people into stores at a time, they're making them line up (6 feet apart) outside. Yea, this is a more recent rule that was just put in place as the pandemic is already reaching its peak lol. The peak is supposed to be in 5 days in the US. And they could have applied the same rule to non-essential businesses. Put guidelines that office supply stores have to keep people 6 feet apart in line, and not have too many in the store at once, instead of shutting them down. Again, its the distinction between essential and non-essential services that I find the most arbitrary. Anyway, being 6 feet apart outside is not necessarily better than being 6 feet apart inside. Even with all the rules in place, most stores don't seem any less busy than average. Maybe Costco less so on peak days. Less busy than they were at the peak of panic-buying, yes. Adopting some kind of social distancing measures across the board does make sense, but I don't know if people are really thinking about what's working or not, or are just making it look like they're doing something.

yeah if that's all you're using a phone for is its basic uses then no reason to spend hundreds on a device

  33. Android or iPhone?

Yep, no contract here either and wouldn't use any phone/provider if I had to do a contract. Wouldn't consider a flagship phone in a million years either. Haven't ever spent more than $79 for any of my Android phones as that's about as high I'm even willing to go for just a phone!! Now, granted, I would like to have the updates that Iphones provide and that is the main thing I hate about Android, but like I said again, don't use my phone for much more than texting and calling, although that's almost a rarity that anybody calls now a days, and an occasional quick search if I need to to look up something. Nice to have a conversation without anyone going all ballistic about something as that's about a rarity anymore, but this will be my last reply to this conversation. We know where we stand on this! 🙂

You should still be able to use Zoom within a web browser. Works fine for me and doesn't come with all the horrific security issues.

  38. Can't get Google to return country specific results

As above ... "set and forget investing" was the search term i used, minus the quotation marks. Now i'm not saying that each and every single result that was returned was an American website, it wasn't. What i'm saying is that some of the top returned results were American whereas if i use the URL i quoted (that generates 2 additional tabs on startup) i get UK results, not American ones ..... but i get those annoying 2 tabs.

  48. How do you know you don't have a virus if you don't have a virus scanner? I think it's always best practices to have something running. There are several 0-Day drive by attacks that can get you infected and you'll never know it. Malware has matured a lot and a lot of it is no longer trying to cause the end-user issues and be as silent as possible. I build all my packages from source and still run an anti-virus. This is just my option, but letting your guard down because you think you safe is a good way to get pwn3d.
