  1. most offices use cheaper VGA, DIsplayPort, or HDMI monitors. So if you replace that with USB-C, that means you have a dongle connected to a dongle... And please ADD USB-C ports to USB-A ports, NOT REPLACE. Don't remove the USB-A ports, especially for businesses where the vast majority of machines do not have USB-C.

True but on the plus side, ventilators are very likely going to be a lot cheaper at the end of this and that can only be a good thing. Also, even thought in some regions the worse could be getting close, we are still along way before normality returns, and we should also remember that we really need to get rid of this virus worldwide which isn't happening soon and could take 2 to 3 years, otherwise the risk of it returning or mutating will always be there.

  5. What if the person at that grocery store let their covid residue on the checkout line register. In my small city, 32 people are confirmed to have it, and almost every single one of them visited the grocery store in my town, which serves thousands a day. Are those thousands of people now going to have to self quarantine (even though they're wearing masks, gloves and sanitizing properly)? Also, you can't pick and chose when privacy goes out the window. Not allowed to leave your house unless this is turned on? What about flip phone users, are they going to have to wear ankle bracelets?

  10. Ppl just need to stop buying Exynos based phones then. Only way to make Samsung stop selling people subpar products just because they live in a certain region. Exynos should be cheaper and it would then fill a certain spot of high end devices and Snapdragon one would be the top end. And sell both everywhere. That's the only way Samsung can fix this mess. And do something about existing customers who already got Exynos one.

I hope so too, I might grab this for my SP6 if it is indeed compatible! as it would be rather handy I'm still using my original Surface Dock but changed couple of Surface Pros and Books. The only difference of a new one will be a bit more powerful charger and USB-C instead of mini-Display. It is very handy indeed because you don't have to connect/disconnect all peripherals one by one when going portable.

  21. Apple and Google partner to track COVID-19 cases with your phone

Other countries like South Korea and Taiwan have done a pretty good job of nearly halting the spread. There are many things we can do before resigning ourselves to all getting infected. Quarantine is only the first step. Wearing masks greatly reduces the chance of infecting others. Shutting down air travel and other forms of distant or group transportation will isolate any new outbreaks. Mass testing is also possible as production ramps up. Then, better tracking, such as with this app, and targeted quarantine. There may first be drugs to at least treat it once you are confirmed sick, and eventually, a vaccine to stop it. The alternative, if everyone in the US gets this, you are looking at over 12 million deaths in the US alone, given the current 3.7% fatality rate. I don't see that happening just because a bunch of people are out of work. The alternative isn't even that we just get sick and keep our jobs. It's that we get sick, the devastation collapses the economy anyway, and then we lose our jobs. 3.7% is complete nonsense. Do you know not understand that they only test really sick people and there are actually a ton of people who have the virus and are never tested? Current scientific estimates are around 0.5% and even that is considered bad enough... There is also a factor of exposure. People who work with sick people get a large dose and can die. People on the street can get a small dose - and get immunity. Similar to how the original immunizations for smallpox were done with live virus Though no one knows if this immunity will last for a while or not. So this is an issue. Otherwise let's wait to see what happens in Sweden who decides to not close any businesses and not to isolate at all. They are doing the experiment for us

  23. This will end before it is ever released. There are entirely too many privacy implications. It's just screaming class action. Who reacts to this data? Can the government use it to force testing, quarantines on people? DOA. We're all going to get COVID-19 unless there's a vaccine within 18 months. The only reason we're staying at home/isolating is so that the rate of infection slows to a more manageable level for medical facilities/hospitals. As evidenced, all it takes is one before 500,000 people have it in the span of 3 weeks. That's not containable, the majority of the population will get it, build immunity (or not), and the Virus will die out. Tracking peoples interactions when they should be self isolating seems silly, unless you're plugging in a destination prior to going to see if you're in the path of covid-19. Silly. All this seems to be doing is telling someone after the fact that they've been in proximity to covid, and if you step foot into a grocery mart, it's probably already there. Indefinite stay at home orders for the entire expected outbreak (18 months) is also unsustainable. People will lose their jobs, houses, cars, spending by tens of millions. It'll be a depression. A $1200 boost and unemployment benefits that cut at least half of regular pay won't sustain people for almost two years. The economy will tank, globally. And then ###### will hit the fan. It won't happen. Right now it's crippling blue-collar workers, but as soon as it starts hitting the white-collar workforce en mass, you'll see a large and powerful resistance by employees who are now at risk of being furloughed, and the rules will change. Let alone the upper class. Truth hurts, but we'll all be back to work by June, backed by the government and big businesses, furthering the spread.

  27. Boom Zoom's success you mean all their gaping security holes? Wait, are we pretending that Teams/Office haven't had security holes? Implying that you can't be successful with security issues is not even close to true. Everything has a security hole, it's just yet to be discovered. Zoom has been amazingly successful in their brand and connecting families. You can't argue that. Put anything/anybody on the world stage and you'll learn things. You could replace Zoom with Blue Jeans or any other mid-level conferencing solution and the same things would come to light.

  29. Apple and Google partner to track COVID-19 cases with your phone

Whether you agree with the idea or not, that’s a damn stupid thing to say. It depends on the truth. No government seem to publish the age and conditions of people in ICU or who die. They do publish the statistics of the age of people who get sick. Why can't we have the real data on the age and health status of people who need ICU.. Publish the age of people who die. That is the main question. Unless I missed something . The data is available but never published How does that apply to the person who said, “I’d rather get sick” ? It’s already been illustrated that it even if you are healthy, you can still die from it. So saying like that is as stupid as it gets. Can, perhaps, but if you are healthy, the survival rate is very, very high. Probably greater than 99%. I'll take those odds, too. Back that percentage up with accurate data and I’ll believe you. Otherwise you are making an equally stupid comment. But hey, it’s your life, IDGAF. Finally, in OECD countries, SARS-CoV-2 does not seem to be deadlier than other circulating viruses. In addition to coronaviruses, there are 16 endemic viruses in common circulation in developed countries (adenovirus, bocavirus, cytomegalovirus, enterovirus, influenza A H1N1 virus, influenza A H3N2 virus, influenza B virus, metapneumovirus, parainfluenzae virus 1, parainfluenzae virus 2, parainfluenzae virus 3, parainfluenzae virus 4, parechovirus, picornavirus, rhinovirus, syncytial respiratory virus), and 2.6 million deaths from respiratory infections (excluding tuberculosis) per year have been noted in recent years worldwide [27]. There is little chance that the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 could change this statistic significantly. Fear could have a larger impact than the virus itself; a case of suicide motivated by the fear of SARS-COV-2 has been reported in India [28]. from: https://www.sciencedirect.com/...pii/S0924857920300972" rel="external nofollow">https://www.sciencedirect.com/...icle/pii/S0924857920300972" rel="external nofollow">https://www.sciencedirect.com/...ticle/pii/S0924857920300972 How does that prove or disprove his greater than 99% of recovery for previously healthy individuals claim? I'm sorry, I didn't realize I had to do ALL of the thinking here. There is ample evidence EVERYWHERE that the younger and healthier you are, the greater your chances of survival. Given the above data, and the current ~3% computation of death rate, increasing the number of people in the denominator (per the article) by up to a factor of 2 (50% cases undiscovered) would produce an aggregate death rate of ~1.5% - average, including all of the high risk groups. Current data also shows that people above ~65 compose by far the largest percentage of deaths. So, simply adjusting for age gets to under 1%, and if you are healthy on top of that...chances are very, very good that you will survive. Was it that hard?

  30. Do you Hackintosh?

No they aren't. Microsoft plunge a LOT of time and effort (hence, cash) into ensuring that their OS works on as many devices as possible. You said that Apple shouldn't do this but rather say "Hey it works fine on our gear". They are very different things and it absolutely would damage the Apple brand. That is one interpretation. The other is that Apple stopped such practices because they wanted to bring their operations back home and own the ecosystem fully. Or just those who have bought into the ecosystem by choice. Apple gear being "overpriced" is a common comment, but also commonly disputed for a number of cases. When you factor in the ecosystem, the resale and so on - it's not actually as bad as people make out. That's YOUR call for YOU. You are not the entire market. And here's where you just go silly and show that you're really just being anti-apple. Which is fine, but don't feel that your stance is shared by everyone.

  33. Do you Hackintosh?

@Asharae I was lucky enough to find someone who had the same board as me over here and he was kind enough to attach his original bootloader. Since that starting point I've revised and updated it. This my motherboard but there's a good list of success stories on that forum with other boards and setup, mostly it's the board that's the decider as to whether you can get it to run on AMD. After that, you need to add the AMD patches for your processor to the config.plist, and have the right boot flags as per your setup. I use Opencore, I used to use Clover, and before that the old pirated Apple bootloader that someone famously tried to sell for public computer builds. Those were the days :) There's basically two types of people you will find over there, and on the reddit, half will say that they will help and give you a resource that works or to start on, and the other half are very much of the opinion that you should read all the websites and learn everything the hard way. Admittedly, the resources and explanations for Opencore are getting better, but its still aways from a 'one size fits all'. Fingers crossed you get it sorted, my build is really stable, updates fine, and Ive got my head around enough of the jargon that I can update my plist file kind of okay but its still hit and miss with my level of understanding. Let us know how you get on :)

  35. I agree they need to support more phones but if you look at the android market overall, Samsung still makes up the bulk of devices out there. Samsung might have a good percentage but there are hundreds of millions of non-Samsung Android smartphones in use. If the market was 95% Samsung, then fair enough, but it really isn't. Microsoft has exclusive partnership with Samsung for couple of years now. All Samsung phones (all top ones at least) have Picture Gallery sync with OneDrive - it's not camera roll sync, it's much better because it synchronizes any albums you chose and works in both ways. It's not like Microsoft is doing this by themselves, Samsung had to add these features on the system level too.

+1 I for example use money on App Store and other Apple services on hacintosh. If this would someday end, I would just go back to Windows because there is not any hardware on Apple that would fit for what I need. Mac mini is too little, iMac has internal monitor and Mac Pro is too much for what I need. iMac usually has had the hardware best suited for my needs, but I want to pick the monitor myself.

  41. how to correctly install kraken x63

Nice unhelpful post? I believe what Daniel was getting at (and probably the general consensus)... Front mounted radiator = Cooler CPU but warmer internal temps (because of the radiator transferring heat into the case + restricting airflow) Top mounted radiator = Warmer CPU but cooler internal temps For example -- If you have a monstrous GPU (like a 2080ti) and lower power CPU (like a 3700x) ... you'll probably have best thermals with radiator at the top. But if you have a power hungry CPU and a ho-hum GPU ... front mounted would probably be best. ...again, it really depends on your configuration. The OP didn't state his GPU/CPU ... but from the image (the GPU) doesn't appear to be anything "special" ... so any configuration would probably be fine. Apparently he has all his fans blowing OUT ... which isn't ideal.

You're making it out that these are simple security issues that just need to be ironed out. Zoom has shown utter disregard to security. Installing an undocumented (and unprotected!) local proxy to avoid warnings in Safari is inexcusable. That wasn't a little programming accident. If your company is developed enough to support employees then you should probably be concerned about security. They're depending on you.
