  7. @deck Sort of in the same situation as you were and google directed my "giving space ass" here. Just wondering how it all played out? Well this was an unexpected notification. How often does a near 7 year old thread get bumped? Well, 7 years later and we are have not been 'friends' for at least 3 or 4 years. I haven't spoken to her in over 2 years. I still think about her but my feelings over time have morphed from disappointment and sadness to a degree of resentment and anger, with disappointment and sadness. Closure never happened and I resent that it didn't; I'm angry because of the friendship lost. I went to a few head doctors and ultimately came to the conclusion that there will never be closure; I have to accept it, feelings be damned. I eventually moved on, despite her popping into my head every now and again (decreasing frequency as time went by). And as I continued to know her after I told her, I realized that she was not right for me for many reasons. Despite that, a part of me will always wonder 'what if'. What if she actually talked about it with me? What if she responded positively but it didn't work out (I would have been fine with this ending)? I miss her regardless. Thankfully, life found a way for me to find actual love. I got married last fall, and she is absolutely the right person for me! It was a difficult few years before I met my wife. I was truly depressed, in part because of the 'event' and compounded by my own inner workings. Eventually I found a good head doctor who helped me climb out of my hole, and that happened shortly before I met my then wife-to-be. I don't believe in 'one true love'. I think there are many matches for everyone; it's just really hard to find those matches. There are thousands of needles in the haystack, but they are still tiny needles in a giant haystack, so finding even one is difficult. I got lucky.

What? I can lock all of our screens on our Surface devices (Pro 4, Pro 7, Book 2) with the Power Button and music playback continues. I do it all the time If you're using uwp apps it works, if you're not the music playback stops What's that got to do with Windows 10, then? That's the choice of the developer to use a particular app type, or the end-user to only use that sort of app? The other mobile systems you mention ONLY allow UWP-esque type apps; not the legacy desktop stuff that Windows is saddled with. If you want that to change, lobby the developer of the app you use and ask them to sort it out.

Been using a Hackintosh for the last 4-5 years now. It has been very stable. Two days every year, I need to spend some time on updating everything or reinstalling everything. I usually do a clean install once a year when a major new macOS release is out. I am using Clover, though there is now Opencore which is supposedly even better.

  22. After installing this update and restarting your device, you might receive the error, “Failure to configure Windows updates. Reverting Changes. Do not turn off your computer,” and the update might show as Failed in Update History. This is expected in the following circumstances: If you are installing this update on a device that is running an edition that is not supported for ESU. For a complete list of which editions are supported, see KB4497181. If you do not have an ESU MAK add-on key installed and activated.

  24. Coronavirus - Share your thoughts!

spacelordmaster - A problem is that a lot of the same folks that CLAIM to want to support Dr. Fauci want to keep the country closed for another three months - is it safety - or do they want to break the economy or other pernicious aims? (Have any of the folks that want to keep the nation shut looked at the effects of actions OTHER than social distancing - in particular, keeping businesses closed, mental health issues, etc.? The pressure merely on the governors - and on President Trump - is also economic - no government is built to survive an extended shuttering of its economic lifeline - taxes. (Why do you think that EU governments tried to reopen early? With their larger social safety nets, they are even less designed to survive an longer-term economic shutdown than the US is! And yet you want to send the US in that direction - bad bad HORRIBLE idea!) You are all looking at one one area - there are MORE areas that need to be examined in term is where/when to reopen the economy; however, reopening the economy you MUST do. You can no more afford to be blinkered than President Trump could be; yet you are even MORE blinkered than he is.

That said, I've done a lot of offline work when it comes to PWAs for the company I work for as we need to offer some things as fully offline capable. With indexdb/local storage, and now some file system control it's super easy.

  27. Regarding controller re-mapping: I'd love the ability to override which controller I'm allowed to use. Some games enforce the use of single Joy-cons. (E.g. Pokémon Let's Go, The Stretchers, etc.) This set up is not ergonomic at all. It's an accessibility disaster. I'd love to be able to have my Pro Controller ‘spoof’ being a single Joy-con so I could play these games without getting hand cramps.

  37. Apple and Google partner to track COVID-19 cases with your phone

Whether you agree with the idea or not, that’s a damn stupid thing to say. It depends on the truth. No government seem to publish the age and conditions of people in ICU or who die. They do publish the statistics of the age of people who get sick. Why can't we have the real data on the age and health status of people who need ICU.. Publish the age of people who die. That is the main question. Unless I missed something . The data is available but never published How does that apply to the person who said, “I’d rather get sick” ? It’s already been illustrated that it even if you are healthy, you can still die from it. So saying like that is as stupid as it gets. Can, perhaps, but if you are healthy, the survival rate is very, very high. Probably greater than 99%. I'll take those odds, too. Back that percentage up with accurate data and I’ll believe you. Otherwise you are making an equally stupid comment. But hey, it’s your life, IDGAF. Finally, in OECD countries, SARS-CoV-2 does not seem to be deadlier than other circulating viruses. In addition to coronaviruses, there are 16 endemic viruses in common circulation in developed countries (adenovirus, bocavirus, cytomegalovirus, enterovirus, influenza A H1N1 virus, influenza A H3N2 virus, influenza B virus, metapneumovirus, parainfluenzae virus 1, parainfluenzae virus 2, parainfluenzae virus 3, parainfluenzae virus 4, parechovirus, picornavirus, rhinovirus, syncytial respiratory virus), and 2.6 million deaths from respiratory infections (excluding tuberculosis) per year have been noted in recent years worldwide [27]. There is little chance that the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 could change this statistic significantly. Fear could have a larger impact than the virus itself; a case of suicide motivated by the fear of SARS-COV-2 has been reported in India [28]. from: https://www.sciencedirect.com/...pii/S0924857920300972" rel="external nofollow">https://www.sciencedirect.com/...icle/pii/S0924857920300972" rel="external nofollow">https://www.sciencedirect.com/...ticle/pii/S0924857920300972 How does that prove or disprove his greater than 99% of recovery for previously healthy individuals claim? I'm sorry, I didn't realize I had to do ALL of the thinking here. There is ample evidence EVERYWHERE that the younger and healthier you are, the greater your chances of survival. Given the above data, and the current ~3% computation of death rate, increasing the number of people in the denominator (per the article) by up to a factor of 2 (50% cases undiscovered) would produce an aggregate death rate of ~1.5% - average, including all of the high risk groups. Current data also shows that people above ~65 compose by far the largest percentage of deaths. So, simply adjusting for age gets to under 1%, and if you are healthy on top of that...chances are very, very good that you will survive. Was it that hard?

  38. Google's Pixel 3a is being sold for as little as $249

Crap. Why are you saying that? That's been one of my biggest fear with that device. Just saying what I observed, in all honesty it works good! But 3a launched with older processor when it arrived in the first place, while 4a comes with this years SD, so would make more sense to invest in 4a if you want to hold to it for 2-4 years! I use 3a XL as my daily driver and did not have much issues, except that it has started to freeze in apps switching some times for fraction of seconds!

  40. how to correctly install kraken x63

Nice unhelpful post? I believe what Daniel was getting at (and probably the general consensus)... Front mounted radiator = Cooler CPU but warmer internal temps (because of the radiator transferring heat into the case + restricting airflow) Top mounted radiator = Warmer CPU but cooler internal temps For example -- If you have a monstrous GPU (like a 2080ti) and lower power CPU (like a 3700x) ... you'll probably have best thermals with radiator at the top. But if you have a power hungry CPU and a ho-hum GPU ... front mounted would probably be best. ...again, it really depends on your configuration. The OP didn't state his GPU/CPU ... but from the image (the GPU) doesn't appear to be anything "special" ... so any configuration would probably be fine. Apparently he has all his fans blowing OUT ... which isn't ideal.

  44. There is a lot attached to the WDDM 2.7 and DX12 features in general in this release. This is the first build to include several kernel level updates in a few years, and this also allows for these new features to work or work better. Look for things like DXR 2, AI/WinML features, lower refresh latency, along with new and existing features from the XBox One/Series X super-set of DirectX12. This adds in the newer versions of adaptive resolutions, scaling, sampling locations, and FPS stabilization. This is good for professional PC Gamers, as one thing the XBox and DX12 in general has done better is having fewer FPS dumps via the framework and the NT kernel managing the CPU and GPU cores for thermal loads better than Vulkan and the PS4 can. One specific - DXR - Ray Tracing previously was designed around a few basic rendering concepts with AI targeting zero performance loss at 60fps - which it does well on the current RT enabled games. The problem was timing as it was debuting at a time when many gamers were moving on to 120-240fps gaming, and thus 60fps DXR Ray Tracing isn't enough. DXR 2.0 targets higher fps Ray Tracing and new render variations with even bi-directional paths for better caustics and FPS targeted optimizations to use the higher refresh rates to get better RT results. I know a lot of people are not DXR/RT fans (especially with the BS from NVidia trying to con people into believing it is their technology). However, for game visual quality to move forward, we need EASIER and more accurate lighting, and we are at the point that some variation of Ray Tracing (Path/Branch/etc) is the only way forward. A good RT'd scene at 1080p can look 100x better than a 4K or 8K image - pixels do not equal higher quality when the current lighting and textures look fake/false. I wish some site would do a deep dive on WDDM 2.7 and DXR 2.0 and the other new GPU/Kernel features in 20H1. I was noticing the other day, that really cool features like multi-GPU rendering features are often not noticed or referenced by the people in the industry that follow games and graphic technologies. One developer from a major AAA game didn't even realize the game on DX12 seamlessly would use several GPUS, with Windows 10/DX12 SMP GPU rendering features that are essentially automatic.
