  3. I have to agree. Lightning was fine in a world were USB Micro didn't exist yet (USB Mini was trash...if anyone remembers). However, its time has long passed, time to move the same standard that all other products use (even other Apple products). I understand the E-waste argument Apple makes...but unless they never plan to change the connector...that is something that will happen at some point anyway. May as well do it now so you can cut down on the ongoing production (and future E-waste) of proprietary connectors that only work for one product.

  4. I much prefer this older design, really stands out more than the current one. Just give me a smaller version that's super powerful, kind of 5S size but edge to edge screen and buttery smooth OS because the screen is small. Some of us just want something we can get one hand around.

  8. Bill Gates calls Trump's de-funding of WHO dangerous

Highly doubtful. Besides having to deal with this crisis, the state of the country has been at it's strongest state ever. Trump is taking the stance of calling countries and organizations out that have leeched off US funding but not provided sufficient benefits. How is that a bad thing? But hey, if you allow the whiney media do to your thinking, that's your choice... If Trump found a cure for cancer, you and your media thinkers would still find a way to spin it negatively...

The Lightning connector is reversible, fast and it is used in many products of the Apple ecosystem. What benefit does switching to USB-C give other than standardization with the rest of the world? Ironically, since USB-C itself has many different configurations and speeds. Edit: Clarity That's *the* benefit. Why do other apple flagship products... macbook pro, ipad pro, have usb c, but they maintain a separate, proprietary cable for their most popular product (iPhone). Answer: Pure profit. Possible Alternative answer: Apple is supposed to be going full wireless in 2021, 2022 and probably don't want to invest in usb c for one year.

  10. Instead of a 'feature update' they should do a 'design update' with a few quality of life for consumers / gamers. Examples: - fix all the icons to be consistent - fix the tiles (transparent tiles + unified accent colors) - fix and update Windows 8 media flyout. Integrate with global media session control from modern browsers. - fix and finish integration of settings / control panel - fix the icons in the action center (no accent color is needed there) - redesigned apps (the new calendar preview is glorious) - option to make all fonts in the OS the same size (settings / explorer / action center / apps / legacy stuff...) - give explorer.exe a visual makeover without losing functionality - fix square icons of store apps in light mode - fix broken animations. When you press 'task view' it flickers once. Some apps like Spotify don't have minimize/maximize animations which started a few builds ago - make jumplists for all inbox apps - allow to set where notifications appear - multiselect of several tiles - make all the game bar stuff consistent. It has a separate notification system, different fonts & animations - backup and restore large games from the windows store like every game client does - allow automatic dark/light mode based on hours or sunrise - allow a dark/light mode specific wallpaper to be set - remove crapware on clean installs

  13. Bill Gates calls Trump's de-funding of WHO dangerous

Yes everyone made mistakes, nobody was prepared but WHO is a bigger picture org and they failed to ring the alarms about the pandemic in China to take protective measures. There is no transparency about their COVID-19 activities either which makes people think they arent doing something. They are certainly not talking about distributing ventialtors and decontamination of developing and 3rd world countries, there is no talk of vaccines. This. Forget about Trump, if your information from the WHO is bad, how do you prepare? The United States isn't the rest of the world, and surely the world isn't looking to Trump's expertise on the issue. This is literally the WHO's job though and if they're going to play politics or move at such a slow pace, they need to be ousted for people who are willing to communicate and act, rather than sit on stage talking about which country they'd like to be treated in the most like it's some internet debate lol.

Considering the Democratic nominee as Joe Biden, I can Democratic simply aren't interested in presidential race this time around. Moreover, he suspended the funds to investigate mismanagement. I can assure you all these *world* organizations have had severe mismanagement of funds. I remember how Red Cross also came under fire for the lavish spending of some of its Chinese *volunteers*. However, if he is trying to punish WHO in disguise of mismanagement, that will be considered *dangerous*

Do you have any evidence to back up that the state of the country has been at its strongest ever? Or that the WHO has been leeching off the US? Or that other countries/organizations been leeching off the US? Don't get me wrong, I don't trust a word Trump says and want some hard facts to read. Not that its even remotely plausible that Trump find a cure for cancer, but of course there would people that would spin it negatively. Just like the same could be said of Obama (again remotely plausible) finding a cure for cancer. Stock market at all time highs, GDP at all time highs, full employment, shrinking lower class, increasing household income, increasing home ownership, superior international trade agreements, etc. The list could continue. Industry and the general population are thriving. The media just likes to ignore the important facts and push a narrative that he's a mean racist that only cares about rich people. All the facts point otherwise though, and more people are realizing that the media's only tactic to artificially create problems and tension.

  18. Bill Gates calls Trump's de-funding of WHO dangerous

Nothing has changed: * Bill Gates is still the privileged nerd with zero empathy for others. Bill Gates should write the book "How to elude to pay taxes and profit from it (and some idiots call me a good person)!". * Trump is a crock and a womanizer but nobody is fooling to think the opposite. But, if you compare Trump with practically every dems candidate around here, then Trump is a holy saint. Do you want to oust Trump? Then give me a good candidate. * WHO = Politics. Who needs them? Nobody. * China = It still hates Winnie the Pooh. China is guilty of everything! * And some members of the forum = I follow my "master" to the death!. Sheesh with those manservants. But I have the solution to this problem. Bill Gates should give (from his own pocket) money to WHO. Everybody wins!.

You mean, as opposed to the right wingers who loudly chanted that Michelle Obama was propagandizing that people should drink more WATER? Or the multiple times where Pres. Obama did something that is completely normal, and screamed how it was "unpresidential" (tan suit, playing with babies in the oval office, going on a bike ride etc). These same individuals now think the Grifter-in-Chief, the chronic liar in the White House is acting perfectly normal and Presidential... Yeah, if you allow the rightwing media (FOX and OAN) to do your thinking, that's your choice. What in the world are you rambling about... That deflection was completely out of context. Since you refuse to discuss or refute my point, shall we assume that you agree with me? Have you not noticed that every leftwing media outlet complains about every waking thing Trumps does since the day he stepped into office? Take your blinders off...

Darn sure hope you are correct. The guy is nothing but a lying imbecile that shouldn't have gotten elected to begin with! Whether or not we pay the most is almost irrelevant. Some body has to pay the most whether by a lot or a little. Just look at the idiots he's picked for his new task force to see what kind of idiot he is! Why do we have to pay? Trump is a business man - if we're not getting a return on our investment into this organization it's good business sense to stop throwing money at it.

  23. Touchpad on a gaming laptop? Yeah you use a gaming laptop ONLY for games? It can't be a multi-purpose machine, right? My gaming laptop is mostly on an external display with an external keyboard and mouse. I have used touchpad on my gaming laptop maybe twice in almost 2 years I have owned the thing So just because your usage is like that you expect everyone to use a mouse for any task that can be done with a gaming laptop, not necessarily games. Probably you would buy a laptop without a touchpad too.

They are certainly not talking about distributing ventialtors and decontamination of developing and 3rd world countries, there is no talk of vaccines. But even then, this is uncharted waters even for the WHO, it's easy to say they should have known what they were doing but looking at the actions of most countries is showing most didn't know what they were doing or worse, too many were putting the economy first before the well-being of its people. Either way, there is a lot of blame to go around and a lot of soul-searching, a lot of tough questions need to be asked with a lot of governments and with any luck, many will be held to account, especially in the west where we reacted to this way too slow even when we knew about this virus.

  25. Bill Gates calls Trump's de-funding of WHO dangerous

I have to agree on that one, or at least it should be equal for rich countries as even then it would only amount to a tiny slice of the gdp, developing countries should be given more leeway on that one. yes deprived countries shouldn't have to be as big of a contributor, but I just assumed the WHO helped "developing" or under privileged countries without being a member? I was just going by countries like China, USA, Germany, UK etc that have a well developed economy and should be on an equal field in this organization I'm not sure how the rules work on these things. But well-developed economies can bounce back a lot quicker on this then developing ones and even thought the economic pain is going to hit us all hard, I think developing countries should be given a free pass. I also really hope that rich countries help out the developing countries to combat this virus because they don't have the resources to contain this as effectively as rich countries can and will need all the help they can get, it's the right thing to do and it makes sense to do it because unless we get rid of this virus worldwide, it can always have a chance of coming back or worse, mutate.

  26. I had a bit of a mare recently. I downloaded kali Linux iso for hyperv. A full scan was scheduled and it picked up loads of threats from the iso, when I clicked on start action to remove the threats, the whole security center crashed and kept doing it after reboots. I removed the iso in the end as no longer needed, but it kept showing threats exist even though the iso was deleted I deleted a service folder in programdata in the end and all was well. Would of been handy this fix a few days ago as would of resolved my issue

  40. You make it sound like a trivial task to rewrite major parts of the game engine to make it work with multi-core CPUs. Adapting software that was designed for a single thread and have it run multi-threaded is extremely challenging and hardly worth it. Remaking the game is a better option.

If China were lying to them and they were not able to be on the ground assessing the situation for themselves under what grounds would YOU have accepted a WHO advising social distancing? Trump even said himself the Chinese were doing a job job. This is where people getting all riled up starts to dilute the topic: If Trump is an imbecile and a liar, then who cares what he said about China? Fact of the matter is that China has been seen abusing human rights throughout this crisis, going as far as censoring and detaining citizens who share their experiences as "spreading rumors". Makes sense, they detained Muslims by and large to "re-educate" them as well. These are all known facts about China, coupled with their recent banning of Animal Crossing to add to the list of things they don't want their citizens to see. But surely, China going to these extremes for even the most petty of things (see Winnie the Pooh) would surely reassure everyone that Xi Jinping is not petty, nor would boldly lie about anything else, right? Just some food for thought. You make up your own mind though, but as for me, I don't care what Trump says. It's about what other countries are saying too, in particular the actual CITIZENS of China and its territories, who are also making large criticisms of the WHO too.

Economy good because of Obama? Or economy bad because of Trump? Sounds like people can't get their story straight. You guys need to all calm down and try having a discussion where you don't move the goalposts. In this same thread, it shifted from GDP to "missing campaign promises" as a level of successful country. Last time I checked, I never wanted to build a wall so I couldn't care less about his rhetoric, but rather just where the economy is now. (or at least was before this crisis)
