Yeah, because companies like Apple absolutely wouldn't monitor the activities of their users, and potentially report their records to the Government. Absolutely not. (sarcasm mode off) All companies unfortunately do this to a certain extent, it's users however are generally "blissfully unaware". Until people start demanding companies and governments stop behaving like this, it will continue. Until then, people need to accept it's the way things are, or stay away from technology all together.3 points -

Makes sense given a lot of people are uncertain if they will have a job or not and dont really need to spend cash on luxury items on another iPhone if have bought one in the last few years. I have an iPhone X and see no real major selling point to getting a new one, current phone is fast, has large screen, good battery life and latest software. The market has plateaued for smartphones.3 points -

If that bugs you, wait until you watch star trek and see how many characters Jeffrey Alan Combs plays. 😄 he has a Top 9. If a small actor is well liked and versatile they can be recast many times especially when you add prosthetics. Companion shows often get a free pass to recast characters based on availability and give existing talent more permanent roles. In Doctor who, he meets Gwen from torchwood and asks her if she had family from a certain place (probably London) this is a nod to the episode when that actress played a different character a few seasons prior. 😄 I think shows tend to give us a season or two before reusing actors to allow us to disassociate from the character, if you binge watch then you may lose that detachment.2 points -

Google Pixel 4a camera samples leak, compared to Redmi Note 7
300z and one other reacted to Geezy for a topic
The Pixel 4a looks like a still from a DreamWorks movie and the Note 7 looks representative of reality. It looks like the Pixel is blending the light in the background and crushing darker colors as well. You can make out more details in the Note 7 shot in dark/bright areas. It looks like the Pixel has the foreground object in better focus. It would be nice to have a DSLR shot for reference! It would be interesting to see the Note 7 GCam port vs the Pixel.2 points -

All of these phones, regardless of who makes them, should be checked for this stuff. It's crazy how people will be up in arms over their privacy in the "real world" or on their PCs but when it comes to phones they seem to not care at all. They really need to make it easy for anyone with a supported phone to be able to wipe the OEMs OS and install something like Lineage OS that doesn't include all this crazy spyware. Just connect the phone via USB, few clicks from a app, and done. As it stands, last I checked, it's not quite that simple.2 points -

Intel announces 10th-gen desktop CPUs with up to 10 cores, 5.3GHz, Hyperthreading for all

Why would they. They will still be in front or tied in most work related tasks specially now that Adobe will support other tech than QuickSync in Premiere and they will still lag behind in gaming. The main thing Comet Lake will do is make the Core i5 not obsolete day 1 for those who are doing more than just gaming. Also someone would need to explain to me why when AMD release a product 6-8 months late people are calling them for it but hey when Intel is doing it no problem. Ryzen 3000 is 10 months old ... I believe spy beef was being sarcastic.2 points -

You're looking for the low power CPUs like the i5-9600t. Which I'm not sure you can get retail. The CPUs you listed don't feature Configurable TDP. This is a feature for lower power Intel CPUs (like mobile). Most of them are going to be FCBGA aside from the "t" series which are socketed...but I don't think you can get them retail.2 points -

Google Pixel 4a camera samples leak, compared to Redmi Note 7
Geezy reacted to mafutha for a topic
Of course we redmi note 7 knew how the camera was used but those of us who use the redmi note 7 pro see a different result. The pro produces true 48mp images so it is better than the pixel phone. There are developers creating a Gcam for the redmi note 7 pro but it still hasn't gotten around to support the 48mp except in portrait mode. Now the new google camera go does support the 48mp and does it well.1 point -

It's hard to check for this stuff because it can be added later with a software or even a firmware update. Just yesterday there were news here on Neowin that Xiaomi were the first Android OEM to push GPU driver update to their Snapdragon 865 devices. Also, they will never make it easy to change the OS, because they need to make money from their cheap hardware (from you by showing ads or from Chinese government by giving them your info).1 point -

Hell, 16GB is plenty for most people and it seems to be reasonably priced. beyond this (like going from 16GB to 32GB) is overkill for most people. this will likely hold true for years to come as even 8GB is still easily good enough for many uses. I'd agree 16GB should be more commonplace. 8GB is starting to become a bit low end between 365, Chrome tabs, and LOB applications. I pretty much agree with dead.cell in that while 8GB is still 'good enough' for most people (as it's plenty for general usage as even 4GB can be passable for some people with the right OS on some basic light use)), you can see 8GB is starting to show it's age. I have had 8GB since May 2012 and while it's still largely good enough for me to this day, you can see it's not as good as it once was as the OS can burn up a good portion of it's RAM after programs been running a while etc. still, you can see RAM in general started losing bigger benefits once it made the leap from 4GB to 8GB (assuming we keep measuring by doubling RAM). like say in the old days when RAM doubled it was rather large boost but it's not true any more pretty much and has been this way for quite a few years now. like say 256MB to 512MB to 1GB to 2GB to 4GB to 8GB as once it reached 8GB that basically has been the sweet spot for quite a few years now as it's not easy to burn it up short of gaming or leaving your browser open with quite a few tabs for days or weeks etc. because back when I got 8GB of RAM in May 2012, it was fairly future proof at the time as it was a solid buffer over what people typically used (which 4GB at that time was still decent for many). but in more recent times you can see that extra RAM at the time paid off as without 8GB of RAM I would notice a performance hit if I had opted for 4GB at that time. but like you mentioned, web browsers are a decent portion of the reason why 8GB can be a slight issue if you leave it running for days with quite a few tabs open like I do. but I usually just restart Firefox(or Chrome) here and there (maybe once a week or something like this) to avoid the RAM hog issues. people like ZipZapRap must be doing really RAM intensive tasks to notice 16GB to 32GB (or more) of RAM. for the common person, it's mostly (if not largely) a waste of $ going any higher than 16GB of RAM. like if the $ (for getting 32GB of RAM) was minimally more than 16GB I may consider it but if your talking anywhere in the ball park of $50-100 difference, which it basically is, it's obviously not worth it as one is better of saving the $ and putting it towards other computer hardware or save the $ for a future build etc as it's a more efficient use of ones $ that way. even speaking for myself... going from 8GB to 16GB of RAM might be slightly noticeable for me in general use but it's not going to be much unless I started playing modern games.1 point -
