  1. Elon Musk threatens to pull Tesla factory out of California

Actually, I think I'll trust the opinions of the smart, educated, and empathetic people based on the truth, facts, and evidence as evaluated by medical professionals, scientists, and actual experts, thanks.

California is the sewer of the USA so leaving there is a no-brainer. but it's obvious everyone is over-reacting to COVID-19 as it's far less of a threat then the media etc make it out to be (you probably have at least a 98-99%+ chance of living if you get COVID-19 but they act like it's a massive threat to society when it's far from it). but they would rather destroy the economy and millions of lives and the left treats honest people like criminals when they just want to get back to work as you can see with that woman in Texas who owned that haircut place trying to force her to apologize like she's the villain when it's really the judge abusing his power. the left treats criminals better than honest citizens. "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." - Benjamin Franklin

Congrats on having a form of government that lets corporations play your states off against each other to the disadvantage of all your citizens who don't own tsla stock.

  6. Elon Musk threatens to pull Tesla factory out of California

Wow, where to start. Let's ignore the laughably bad false comparisons to forced imprisonment and start with a simple one: No one is trying to stop YOU from getting sick and dying. People have every right to be as ignorant, cowardly, and gullible in order to fall for the fearmongering lies of charlatans and would-be demagogues as they want to be. What you DON'T have the right to do is put OTHER PEOPLE'S LIVES at risk through your actions. And THAT'S what the lockdown orders are intended to do. So, no, they aren't unconstitutional, as my right to defend my life, property, and family (sound familiar?) PREDATES the constitution as the castle doctrine and rights of self-preservation are INALIENABLE (recognize this word?). The overwhelming majority of us representing society on the whole are just fine with protecting ALL OF US (including your vulnerable parents and grandparents too!) from selfish, ignorant, gullible, and cowardly ignoramuses for a little while -- which is all this is, just a little while.

No, he's a spoiled brat is what he is. This isn't the first tantrum he's thrown when he doesn't get his way, and it won't be the last.

  8. MS - "Our products need to be super secure so we don't support Thunderbolt/Removable RAM for the 1% case of someone having physical access to your device." Also MS - "We don't care about hackers actually hacking your device without physical access to it, because obviously that case is less than the 1% above."

Of course...it's the media...why didn't we think of that before. How can they posibly be wrong something that is world wide.. Beside, your math is way wrong. Based on the people infected and death rate in the US, it's a 6%. That is of course when they die. There is also a percentage that are infected and are in critical treatment. 1 out of 20 dead is a very high ratio. In Mexico we're about 10% death rate.

Go Elon! The left wing liberal cesspool of California doesn't deserve you and the innovation you've Brought the world. They're not even America anymore. Haven't been for over a decade. Texas, Florida, Nevada all offer vastly more room to be an American, to innovate and retain your liberties & freedoms. Let the ignorant destroy themselves in their socialist cesspool. None of the speak English anymore anyway.

  17. I like to think I am a good person, and I would have contacted them about the mistake. However, my goodness ends there. The minute they asked for a picture, I would have hung up and threw the other 9 up on eBay. Life is too short. If you try to do the right thing and get flack over it -- time to move on and not waste your time.

The fact that you are “entitled” to your ###### opinion doesn’t mean it’s not wrong. Also California is literally the center of innovation, most tech companies are born or reside there for a reason. Elon can take his cars and COVID to Florida.

  22. Microsoft will likely be able to learn from Apple's ARM MacBook

Microsoft already has WoA supporting x86 apps. There is nothing to learn. They just need x64 support. If anything, Apple can learn from MS on supporting different CPU architectures as they have more experience and knowledge on it. PS: Rosetta ran like crap. https://www.anandtech.com/show/2064/18

Tell that to the families out of a job looking for work. Have friends of the family laid off, saying nobody wants to interview because of all this. My mom got lucky with a job change last month because her role can be done from home, but not everyone is so lucky.

Actually, I think I'll trust the opinions of the smart, educated, and empathetic people based on the truth, facts, and evidence as evaluated by medical professionals, scientists, and actual experts, thanks. Problem is nobody is getting real numbers since hospitals are incentivised to say everything is covid related. The fact that these numbers aren't right serves only to increase unrest, and the fact that the numbers are bad is clearly the current administration's fault. Deaths seem to be targeted to people with prior health issues so it makes sense to quarantine those people off instead. Testing isn't at the level it needs to be and officials are saying it's not even possible to reach those levels. Quarantine was the smart play at first. Now that it is widespread it's not going to work so infecting everyone and building up herd immunity is the smart play now.

  30. I've been saying this about rapid charger for years. SLOW charge is the best way. But, sometimes, people don't have that option. Which is why they need to bring back REPLACEABLE BATTERIES! We know that ain't gonna happen.

  31. You don't recommend cars, TVs, any iphone or android phones, security cameras, etc, etc .. all because they can't be covered? There are countless numbers of devices out there without a cover on the camera. I'd love to see the convolutions you and others who believe in the way you do to justify that this is somehow OK in this isolated scenario where it's not OK in others. Whether you agree with the philosophy or not, a shutter is a very old way to prevent viewing. This doesn't mean it can't be hacked, but damn, I bet you don't exactly blacken out your windows on your home either. The level of paranoia here can get a little obscene. And no, you can't say that you trust Apple or Google where you don't trust Microsoft. No matter which vendor you pick, they all can potentially be hacked, but then what? Nowadays I have "easier spying" with handheld gopro cameras in small remote drones that all they need is line of sight to you.

  32. we get shutters for cameras, but where's our disable microphone physical switch?
    2 points
  33. The explanation makes sense and the physical design of the system, hard-wiring the LED indicator into the camera power circuit is sensible. However, that isn't the issue for people asking for a shutter - they don't trust the indicators in the first place, so explaining how they work may not help much to ease their minds. Tape's an ugly hack and probably doesn't help much with the mic, but at least it's easy to get and costs about nothing at all. If MS put in a shutter, I'm sure it would raise the unit cost by another 10 - 15$ and it would be yet another moving component that could break after years of use.

  35. Given how customer service lines work, I doubt there was really any alternative to having to put him on hold since this is a pretty strange issue that probably required escalation. While it did get fixed in the end, it's still unfortunate that the customer had to put in time and effort for Google's benefit - I think they should have given him some small token of appreciation, like an app store credit, a warranty extension, or a quiet discount on his invoice as a "we oopsed, thanks for your time."

  36. Microsoft will likely be able to learn from Apple's ARM MacBook

Google use of 'Open' is more marketing than actual participation or progressing 'open' concepts. Microsoft is the largest contributor to OSS, and yet you think Google does it better. Marketing, pure marketing, and it works.

There is nothing for MS to learn here that they haven't already. Weird article.

  38. To be honest, I don't even know what this MS Hello is even! I mean I know what it is, but I've never come across it on either of my Windows 10 computers. It must have popped up once though when initializing the OS, so I assume I disabled it right from the get go. Only once in my life have I had the need to use a webcam and that was just a couple months ago for a Dr. appointment over Skype. I used my Android tablet for that, which very seldom gets used anyway. As far as in permissions for apps, camera and mic are disabled. Is that where MS Hello gets permissions from. This may be one of those times where ignorance comes in handy!!

Don't think Franklin was really talking about a fairly deadly pandemic which can be slowed by temporarily making people physically social distance. Come back when they pass some long standing laws then we can get the flags out.

  43. What kind of USB cable do I need to charge my LG 3d Glasses?

8pin mini according to the spec sheet. However, it is probably a specific shape to LG (harken back to the old cell phone days). Might be able to find one at your local Walmart, cellphone store, etc...I couldn't find anything online to be comfortable with recommending. So, probably mini 8-pin compatible with LG.

  44. When it comes to security, I don't mess around. When I leave my laptop unattended, I either power down the wireless network adaptor or put the whole device to sleep, so bad actors cannot look at my white, blank ceiling through my webcam. When I am using it, a good personal firewall is already protecting me. Real threats today are the ransomware, not horny hackers trying to catch a glimpse of your bare skin while you are undressing. Hence, please forgive my bluntness, but the camera cover is for idiots.
    1 point
  45. Mr. Bathiche is fatally mistaken here. Because the lack of a physical shutter or switch does not hinder bad actors in spying at you. It merely allows you to realize this after the fact, or more during the act - but even that only if you're paying attention to it. And if you didn't, they not only could take picture of footage of you, of your home, etc. but you wouldn't even know it. Whereas a shutter or switch would have hindered them in abusing your camera in the first place.

They're also being sued on a class action I believe for all the Xbox controllers that feature drift, and have been continually seeing this for years (especially now that Nintendo came under fire recently). I've been part of the beta. It was pretty buggy at first but lately I haven't had any issues with it. I quite like the new layout and functionality compared to the old web version.

  50. Multiple external IP addresses on a FRITZ!Box 7530

Its not going to be a route you add. If you have multiple IPs, it would be a VIP you (virtual ip) to your current wan.. Is your current router you using one from your ISP... Or some other router you bought? And yes if you want your outbound traffic to use this other public IP, then yes you would need to setup your outbound nat to use that for what devices behind your router you want to use that IP with.
