Wow, where to start. Let's ignore the laughably bad false comparisons to forced imprisonment and start with a simple one: No one is trying to stop YOU from getting sick and dying. People have every right to be as ignorant, cowardly, and gullible in order to fall for the fearmongering lies of charlatans and would-be demagogues as they want to be. What you DON'T have the right to do is put OTHER PEOPLE'S LIVES at risk through your actions. And THAT'S what the lockdown orders are intended to do. So, no, they aren't unconstitutional, as my right to defend my life, property, and family (sound familiar?) PREDATES the constitution as the castle doctrine and rights of self-preservation are INALIENABLE (recognize this word?). The overwhelming majority of us representing society on the whole are just fine with protecting ALL OF US (including your vulnerable parents and grandparents too!) from selfish, ignorant, gullible, and cowardly ignoramuses for a little while -- which is all this is, just a little while. Nobody has the right to oppress people's normal daily life because of the maybes of a pandemic. Living your life, going out to eat, going to work, getting your hair cut isn't unnecessarily putting others lives at risk. Our country has become inhabited by a little of whiney bitches. Life is inherently dangerous. Get used to it. What are you doing if not whining? Seems hypocritical to me.6 points -

California is the sewer of the USA so leaving there is a no-brainer. but it's obvious everyone is over-reacting to COVID-19 as it's far less of a threat then the media etc make it out to be (you probably have at least a 98-99%+ chance of living if you get COVID-19 but they act like it's a massive threat to society when it's far from it). but they would rather destroy the economy and millions of lives and the left treats honest people like criminals when they just want to get back to work as you can see with that woman in Texas who owned that haircut place trying to force her to apologize like she's the villain when it's really the judge abusing his power. the left treats criminals better than honest citizens. The S20 has only 3x, and there's cropping done all over past 1x... and for their super zoom feature, it uses the 64mp lens and crops it to simulate a 3x and higher zoom. Look at Sweden. No difference. If there had been no draconian lock-downs most people would have herd immunity right now and this fear-mongering campaign would be over right now. This would be "just" another year of flu deaths. You quarantine sick people. You DO NOT quarantine healthy people. One ignorant post after another. It's astonishing, but not surprising, how you don't have ANY of your facts straight. Let's start with Sweden - 2/3 of all of Sweden's Coronavirus deaths have been among their elderly nursing home residents. Their health minister is now so ashamed of how arrogantly and ignorantly they screwed up, he just had to apologize to all of Sweden. And, of course, they are NOW properly locking down their elder care facilities. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/ne...rly-deaths-coronavirus.html Next. DOCTOR Fauci is a world-renowned expert in this specific scientific and medical subject matter. You can read his over 50 year long resume here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Fauci This is what happens when an intelligent person puts the effort in to become educated by acquiring knowledge and then gains decades of hands-on experience becoming one of, if not the, foremost expert in his field. Perhaps if you took the time to be properly educated by actual experts who base their conclusions and recommendations on the science as determined by facts and evidence, you'd have some idea of what you are talking about on this topic...and even, dare I say it, many more. PS You don't have the faintest idea what "herd immunity" is actually about and I personally don't remember a constant convoy of morgue trucks hauling flu victims away every holiday season in the USA. I'm pretty sure you don't either.4 points -

Reintroducing myself after a decade

Hi Everyone. I'm actually an old member. I joined back at the beginning of 2002. I can't believe it's been eighteen years. I'm sure there are some people here who aren't even that old. I used to visit Neowin all the time back then. It was my go-to website for computer advice/news. Always loved the style of this website. But I haven't been here in a decade. Looks like my last post was 2010. Which is around the around time I built my last PC before quickly trading it to my girlfriend for her Macbook. I've been a mac user ever since, at least at home. I've used Windows for years at work until switching jobs and using a mac at the new one a couple years back. Although to be fair, I was also a mac user for several years back in the 00s at different times. So I'm familiar with both and I'm thinking about building a new Windows 10 PC today. I kinda got the bug again after helping my girlfriend upgrade her PC this past weekend. Not sure if I should get into my PC building ideas and questions here or start another topic elsewhere for that. Let me know. But for now. Hi!2 points -

COVID-19 is serious, specifically to those with pre-existing conditions or the elderly, but it is not certain death. Trying to insinuate that is blatantly incorrect. Secondly, what happens when unemployment skyrockets to 20%? How do people feed their families then? How do you take care of your medical necessities without insurance that your previous employer provided? At some point, this becomes a balancing act. Many businesses are still open while practicing safer methods, such as enforced distancing, masks, gloves, face guards, curb side pick ups, etc. We can acknowledge there will be risk of businesses opening up, but we can still take measures to reduce how many people are infected. Problem is nobody is getting real numbers since hospitals are incentivised to say everything is covid related. The fact that these numbers aren't right serves only to increase unrest, and the fact that the numbers are bad is clearly the current administration's fault. Deaths seem to be targeted to people with prior health issues so it makes sense to quarantine those people off instead. Testing isn't at the level it needs to be and officials are saying it's not even possible to reach those levels. Quarantine was the smart play at first. Now that it is widespread it's not going to work so infecting everyone and building up herd immunity is the smart play now.2 points -

You don't recommend cars, TVs, any iphone or android phones, security cameras, etc, etc .. all because they can't be covered? There are countless numbers of devices out there without a cover on the camera. I'd love to see the convolutions you and others who believe in the way you do to justify that this is somehow OK in this isolated scenario where it's not OK in others. Whether you agree with the philosophy or not, a shutter is a very old way to prevent viewing. This doesn't mean it can't be hacked, but damn, I bet you don't exactly blacken out your windows on your home either. The level of paranoia here can get a little obscene. And no, you can't say that you trust Apple or Google where you don't trust Microsoft. No matter which vendor you pick, they all can potentially be hacked, but then what? Microsoft will likely be able to learn from Apple's ARM MacBook
quikmantx reacted to Mobius Enigma for a topic
Apple makes good ARM chips; however, the performance advantage they demonstrate is nearly always in comparison to Snapdragon equivalent devices running Android. Android is a pig, and this makes Apple's software and hardware look good. In comparison, Windows on similar Snapdragon class processors outperform Apple's ARM processors. Take the last devices of Windows Phone, the Lumia 950XL, an 810 Snapdragon. With Android the 810 ranged anywhere from 50% to 75% the performance of the same year Apple ARM SoCs. The WM10 device was 1.5 to 2x faster than their Android counterparts, and bested not only the iPhone that year, but even beat the faster iPad version of the Apple SoC in multi-core/thread performance. I say this not to knock down Apple, but to slightly temper expectations.1 point
