  1. TSMC stops taking orders from Huawei following US ban

I think just US alone move is not enough. China should be punished in global scale and be held accountable for all the lies, stealing and cheating they do . By the way it’s not just the US or other countries. Their own hardworking people are the biggest victims. Their mind is poisoned by state run government propaganda that west is coming to get you While they are being exploited by working more for much less money if you convert the currency fairly to US Dollar for example

  2. TSMC stops taking orders from Huawei following US ban

How can you compete with a country that shamelessly steals and rip off your technology. If rule of law was established in China all these companies would have been found guilty of intellectual theft. Same thing communist party in charge does to rip off the world by exploiting their own people by keeping its wages down and manipulate currency to make it impossible for any countries to compete with them. Difference is when they do it to their people it’s ok for the left media but if US tries to compete someone like Bernie Sanders and his ill informed supported cry out loud to make $15 minimum wage. You know what’s minimum wage in China ?

" should be punished in global scale and be held accountable for all the lies, stealing and cheating they do" The US has been doing it & getting away with it for decades. It's hilarious how Americans are up in arms about China's behaviour when they've built their economy on corruption, greed & lies.

It would have been valid statement if the founder of Huawei didn’t have undeniable and tight relationships with communist party in charge of Chinese government and wasn’t involved in numerous cases of intellectual property theft and it’s CTO who is his own daughter bypassing US sanctions to help Iranian government arresting and spying on their street protesters

I'm sure you're well versed in the intricate details of this trade war between the US and China and can enlighten the poor masses here on neowin. We're all waiting with baited breath for you.

  17. Unboxing the 1.92-pound Dynabook Portégé X30L-G

Tell the UK that; the US got the system of measurement we use from them. (The UK still uses it.) You seem to be of the opinion that "you MUST convert - or else"; neither the UK or US (or most of the UK Commonwealth, for that matter) bought that argument. And it isn't that we haven't tried (either the UK or US); both nations did. (Two Interstates - 17 and 19 - were signed and built entirely using the metric system - fat lot of good it did either.) While the UK still has a few outdated measurement systems around (miles for transport speed/distance, stone/lbs for body weight, ft/in for body height, pints [not US pints] for milk/beer) the majority of measurements have adapted to the superior metric system long ago. If we were measuring the weight of a product (e.g. a laptop) in the UK it would be in grams/kilograms, like the rest of the world. Superior is decided by users - not governments; and especially when users don't move. (For example, how many of those "superior" measurements" have NO equivalent in the old (UK or US) system?) For all the talk of "superiority", you STILL had it crammed down your throats and forced to swallow - did you ever stop to think that is why we (as in the US) rebelled? Yes, it's decided by its users, that's why most users who have experience using both systems will agree the metric system is superior for almost every application. The conversions are easy/intuitive and the units make sense, there's other advantages but those alone are enough of a reason, that's why the majority of the scientific community (even in the US) uses the metric system. It's not being "crammed down your throat and forced to swallow" if it's a change the people think is for the better, not all change is a bad thing. Living in the US for 8 years taught me there are large amounts of people who will strongly rebel literally any change good or bad, I have yet to hear a compelling reason as to why anyone personally rebels against the metric system apart from the fear of change. Don't get me wrong, the US has imperial deeply ingrained I don't expect them to change, but that doesn't make imperial the better system, it just means they're stuck with it now.

  18. HBO Now app finally ends support for older Apple TV models

Third gen units were released eight years ago. 8. HBO make the app, not Apple. Please detail your logic a little further when you get a moment. I'll detail the logic. Apple stopped updating the device for no reason, even though it plays video just as well as it did on day one, and playing video was always its only function. Apple wants me to throw the device in a landfill, and buy their NEW device that serves the exact same purpose. That is the very definition of planned obsolescence.

  19. China asks the United States to stop suppression of firms

That's because anything to do with Trump is sensationalized. When he was against ZTE, everyone had bleeding hearts for China. Then he tries to work with ZTE, suddenly he's a pro-China commie, just trying to protect his vested interests as he has business with China between himself and his family. Besides, half the time Trump's telling us what a nice guy Xi Jinping is. Which is it? I'd personally not base my own opinion of China around Trump, who changes his mind on the daily about everything.

  29. Huawei says survival at stake following US export ban on chips

In the grand scheme of things, whatever China are accused of doing isn't that bad. Besides, they've probably been spying on other countries for years and for what gain? Just like other countries spy on other countries. Plus, the US knowingly harbours murders. The wife of a Diplomat killed a UK teenager. She is claiming diplomatic immunity. And Trump thinks that's okay? (FYI, she goes anywhere outside the US, she gets arrested.) She killed someone and the US is protecting her. Who cares about property theft (from companies who can afford it anyway), when there's murderers about? Good old whataboutism, what would we do without it.

  30. TSMC stops taking orders from Huawei following US ban

Isn't it ironic that both countries want to rule the world as super powers and yet both are going out of their ways of weakening each other, if push comes to shove, this could be painful for both countries because the more the US tries to punish China, the more China is going to punish the US, I suspect the EU is loving this if they stay out of it whiles the two wannabe powers weaken each others lol. European and Asian countries must be loving this because if China outright bans American corporation from selling in China, that would be a massive win for other countries around the world at the expense of the US and they will fall over themselves to gain good access to the market of China considering the population.

  32. Amazon query

Not sure if this will be helpful, but I recently had an issue where Amazon marked a package as delivered, but it never actually arrived. Usually the delivery person will take a picture of where they left it, but that wasn't the case for this one, and it said it was delivered to a "secure" location. I went to their automated chat function and it asked a few basic questions and then refunded my money right on the spot. It was sub-$50, so obviously not worth their time to have me talk to a real person. I was impressed how quick and easy it was. It might be too early for you to request a refund, but search around for the chat-based help function when you get to that point. It's possible this won't work with a 3rd party vendor though.

  35. Lenovo Chromebook Duet unboxing and first impressions

It still just kills me that there are around 20-30 Windows 10 devices with similar or better hardware specifications that are around the same price or significantly cheaper. I know people think Chromebooks cover low end computing, but a Windows 10 device with 4GB of RAM will be faster and capable of running things like Photoshop if needed. (Often similar devices going for less than $100 with Windows 10 when on sale.) Just head over to Amazon or any larger retailer, there are tons of devices to choose from. If you need or want ChromeOS, this is for you, if you want a cheap or low end device to write or type or use as a tablet, check out what is available with Windows.

  36. Reccommendations for Cloud Storage

So is this backup you want cold data? Or is your data constantly changing.. If changing you are not going to want to keep revisions of the files? And just overwrite whatever todays version of the file is? If you keep revisions, how much data are you changing per day? If you have 4TB to start with, and you changing 1G a day - pretty soon you have 8TB Love to offer you a suggestion, but there is nowhere close to the amount of info need to suggest anything other than google online storage and what do you find.. Or name off some top name players, etc. If you concern is budget, its almost always going to be cheaper to just buy another disk and copy your data there.. Quick google and you for sure can pick up a 4/5TB disk for 100$.. You would burn through that with online storage in no time.. Even storing that data on glacier, your prob around 200$ for only a year of storage.. Even if only keep the 4TB extra a disk for the life of its warranty... Your still cheaper than storing the data online.. But comes down to what your actually needs are, and why you feel online storage is better option.. Now if you were saying this was one of the legs in your DR plan, then that would make sense. But again what are you backing up? What are you upload speeds? Takes quite a bit of time to upload 4TB of data at 5mpbs

I have a few spare nics (gig) around and such... But all my other ###### I tossed... I mean really what am I going to do with a ISA slotted video card, etc.. What I should do is toss the some of the other shelf I have on my self as well... I see some old floppy disks and such.. WTF am going to ever do with those Unless you are in some mud hut village in 3rd world - none of that ###### has any use

Nice, two super evil - world's biggest economic Titans- just trying to exert dominance. Nothing unexpected - seems the pond isn't big enough for two big predatory sharks. Let's be clear on one thing - all governments and their capitalist MNCs are evil - and they all have committed similar crimes like intellectual property *theft* and unfair trade practises. The drama here isn't about right & wrong. It's about the government trying to defend its own big(paying) lobbyists' income, and cripple the other. Nothing new, and definitely not a good vs evil fight.
