Netflix is cancelling accounts that have been inactive

What is good about this? Cancelling your paying subscribers..odd business decision Not really. It's odd when it comes to making money but not when it comes to giving a good customers support. A parent might have taken this for his kid and doesn't even know they kid is not using it. If someone have not watching anything in a year then no point taking their money.8 points -

Winstall.app is a web-based GUI for the Windows Package Manager
dustojnikhummer and 4 others reacted to George P for a topic
Speed and convince basically. If you have a set list of apps you always install on your systems, like many do, using a package manager to do so saves you a good chunk of time instead of going to each apps website, downloading the installer, then installing the app manually. With a simple batch file you can install a number of apps with one double click (if you don't wanna type run file.bat). Then walk away and do something else.5 points -

Twitter announces new labels for misleading COVID-19 posts
mudslag reacted to adrynalyne for a topic
Two things, first off if you don't like it, don't use twitter. Second, are you ok with people spreading false information that could potentially harm others? How do you know Twitter isn't spreading false information as well. It is censorship Twitter itself is a service. Do you have any reason to suspect they are spreading false info? If so can you provide it? We can play "what if" all day long but without something to go off of, your question is moot. After all, it's still their company, so they can make the rules that fit their business model best. You and everyone else are choosing to use it, not forced to. Why won't you answer my question asked of you? I don't think anyone wants false information out there, but there is a lot of it. My question is why would we trust Twitter's version of the information any more than someone else's? There are already plenty of stories about Twitter trying to sway readers to their point of view. It is censorship. What topic will they need to monitor next? Clearly those putting false info out there do want it out. For what ever reason you seem to be confused about twitters role, it isn’t to put out info but block info that is deemed false. If someone tweets out that X drug cures covid-19 and Twitter blocks that, that isn’t twitter putting out info. You can call that censorship all you want, it’s still twitters platform to do so. And it does not violate anyone’s First amendment. As for Twitters POV, what view is that exactly? Cause as far as I know, they don’t post random stories. So please back up your statement. Get off the backing up your statement stuff, this is a stupid internet forum not a news broadcast! All I am saying is that who says what Twitter thinks is false, is really false. Also what is the next topic that they will decide to play God with? So for the record, you are saying you don’t back up anything you say and therefore you credibility isn’t anything we should even entertain. Don’t have time to back up your claims? Then I don’t have time to read anything you type. Not that you could have backed up this case, you were flat out wrong.1 point -

Twitter begins testing the ability to restrict replies to tweets
waysidesc reacted to adrynalyne for a topic
something something i'm a victim. If you honestly don't see the clear bias and intentional filtering of content on Twitter, you're either ignorant or in complete denial. It's not a huge secret... It’s really no different than Facebook blocking... Not sure what that refers to, but if you mean one person blocking another person, that's a bit different. Twitter as a company is notorious for shadow banning certain people and silencing certain hashtags from trending. It's pretty sad that a company would be so worried about certain topics being talked about that they take measures to make sure more people can't see it. How is it different? Blocking someone prevents them from seeing, sharing, or commenting on it. Then there are the privacy settings of who can see your posts. It’s not really that much different. If you follow someone on Twitter who has prevented your tweets, why follow them then? It seems like that can solve itself—or screenshotted tweets can... Social media is what you make of it IMO. I don’t treat it as any platform I would discuss anything of any real importance because I know they are all biased.1 point -

and progress America makes without their sickness infecting the discussions. Speaking of sickness, how do you feel knowing that the United States President is an abject failure regarding the virus that he consistently assured Americans was under control ? Over 90,000 deaths in America, but the President had before said that his administration had already done so well that there would soon not be any cases of infection when you still only had 15 cases. Because hindsight is always 2020. Did YOU know it would go this badly? No, you did not, neither did Trump or ANYONE else. He just said what people around said to him. And if American's weren't so stupid "dur dur no masks! freedom dur dur", it would not be this bad, First ... you have no idea what I know or otherwise. ... It was not hindsight with him --- he did not comment on a past event with new knowledge --- no, he said that his administration had already done such a good job. As well as other nonsense. It was not a one-time comment but this viewpoint was expressed repeatedly. No, he did not just say what people around said to him ... Yes, many, many, many, many, many Americans are stupid. I agree with your last paragraph wholeheartedly. I cannot believe that following safety precautions or instructions is perceived as some attack on freedom for them. I'm repeating myself Because he totally knew what, 2-3 months ago, how bad it will be, right? Didn't he say that when there were like 60 cases and no deaths in the entire US? It is easy to look at it now and point fingers at whoever's fault it was. Remember Demos, WHO and others saying it was racist to shut down planes from China? Because I do remember that. Yes; according to him he knew it was a pandemic long before it was one. Let us say that he was ignorant, though for the sake of argument ... there are so many more things that make him culpable and incompetent ... How would you justify him conflating it with influenza on national television in front of millions of Americans ? No excuse for this. Democrats were wrong to say that about anything, but ... when does it matter even what Democrats say ? I do not recall WHO saying it was 'racist' to do anything, but ... even so ... President Trump himself still did not shut down travel to or from China --- unlike what he says he did. That he lies about this tells anyone all he or she needs to know about his response. Because it would be better to say "We can't contain this, good luck and God Bless America", right? Which would start at least a panic and at worst a civil war?1 point -

This should upset anyone. It means if you flood the network with nonsense, you can then control the conversation to reinforce the message. Left wing, right wing, pick a direction, it's open to abuse. It's also prone to abuse by companies. I'm not sure how you guys don't see that. Strange in that all I really see here is bashing Democrats. I think the comments kicked off with red hats. Either way, it's still an issue on both sides, and again companies who want to silence negative dispositions towards their actions or products.1 point -

Even then[when they moved to the 60's in Mafia III], I still feel it's general characters/cut scenes were more interesting/of higher quality than the GTA series.
