I'm glad that something like this happens and gets to the light. Not because someone gets their info stolen (Hope nobody gets it), but because it shines the crappy and awful support from OEMs which fragment the whole Android Ecosystem. Slow updates, unlatched systems... Hopefully this would make things a tad better.4 points -

yeah, if you think story driven games are a waste of time, then watching them on youtube with someone elses choice is an even bigger waste. WHY would you do that??? the point of interactive story is that you influence the story. without it, might as well watch a movie. some of your comments make no sense. if you said this is not a "real" game you would be very wrong too, but i can see your point - it is not an "old school" game, by any means3 points -

lolwut? Man, some people put so much energy and effort into finding things to be upset about. While I'm sure the internet will eventually figure out the difference between all the different "re____" types of product releases, likely as soon as everyone agrees to the difference between expansion packs, DLC, and upgrading shareware to a full version, and thirty seconds after the last person speaks for everyone else in the world with their own opinions. But in this case, at least, I think calling something a 'remaster' when it sounds like it uses all the same graphic assets would result in just as many (or more) whiny comments about the term being misused. This is maybe on par with the Beamdog releases of games like Baldur's Gate. And comments over in that world are just as eager to bite at their use of the word "Enhanced". If an updated launcher makes it a remaster, then lemme go 'remaster' all my PDFs by installing a newer version of Adobe Reader.2 points -

too bad I'm not in the market for a new phone any time soon. As a long time Android user I just switched to an iPhone XR and have been quite happy with it; especially considering a jailbreak was just released for 13.5 last week. Quite happy to have a device that will actually get another 3 to 5 more years of support unlike most Android phones these days. /end rant2 points -

Microsoft plans to keep investing in Skype despite Teams success
Jazmac and one other reacted to thisdude for a topic
I don't understand all the hate towards Skype, especially for business use? It's great. The company I work for, we use it heavily along with Teams. Skype is perfect for quick conversations text/audio/video with co-workers. The share your desktop feature is great, especially right now with all the working from home going on. Skype is a great product. I can't see why some tech journalists think Teams will replace it and Outlook?2 points -

you do know theses are Games right not movies Story driven "games" (barely in this context since it's literally like saying choose your own adventure books are games) are boring. Not for me at least, I enjoy that kind of games quite a lot. I played through Detroit: Become Human a couple of times already, I found the story compelling and enticing to the point I wished it was longer or had more ramifications. I'm glad to see it being released for PC.2 points -

How does that help anyone? YouTube is already cluttered and busy. If a user wants to search the web they use the web search, they don't go to YouTube. You can already search for anything by highlighting a term and using the popup menu. This is unnecessary at best.2 points -

Winstall.app is a web-based GUI for the Windows Package Manager
dustojnikhummer and one other reacted to samw61 for a topic
It's apples to oranges, a store and a package manager aren't alike besides the ability to install apps. To an end user like me, they seem to serve the same purpose (install apps), but this package manager is less informative as it seems to lack images, reviews and descriptions from what I understand. It doesn't seem like something I'd ever use, unless it was merged with the Microsoft Store. But like many things on here, it's probably not designed for me. Still, I don't see why it wouldn't be merged with Microsoft Store to ensure a rich and clean interface for doing both the things people seem to want to do.2 points -
Winstall.app is a web-based GUI for the Windows Package Manager
dustojnikhummer and one other reacted to George P for a topic
Speed and convince basically. If you have a set list of apps you always install on your systems, like many do, using a package manager to do so saves you a good chunk of time instead of going to each apps website, downloading the installer, then installing the app manually. With a simple batch file you can install a number of apps with one double click (if you don't wanna type run file.bat). Then walk away and do something else.2 points -

Rapper 6ix9ine has $200k charity donation rejected
waysidesc and one other reacted to Steven P. for a topic
I think the point of the rejection was that the rapper made a deal out of it, and the charity didn't want to be associated with a convicted child sex offender. Like I said, he could have made the donation anonymously and this wouldn't have ever reached any news channels. Didn't some charities/trusts/university refund money they were given by Epstein? Sort of the same thing, because it was known and public knowledge, not anonymous.2 points -

Twitter announces new labels for misleading COVID-19 posts
adrynalyne reacted to mudslag for a topic
Where exactly did the WHO say "no evidence of human to human transmission"? That goes against everything that I have read about COVID-19. They were saying that when it first started making the news in late Dec - Jan Source? Pretty much every newscast at the time look for yourself then it should be easy for you to back it up with a few news clips. When you make claims, it’s on you to back it up. Why? I got stuff to do. Look yourself if you are so worried. Just not enough stuff to keep you coming back to reply though. If you lack the ability to support your own argument, then clearly your argument isn’t that strong to begin with. I guess I'm not as smart as you so bear with me... A simple Google search will show a lot of articles posted and reported on the news at that time supporting the supposedly "debunked" story. It might have been false, but it was what was reported at the time. I don't have an argument, but rather an opinion that it isn't Twitter's job to censor what someone if saying. You might not like the word censor, but that is exactly what they are doing. The facts on this virus change daily and honestly I take it all with a grain of salt because what the WHO and CDC tell will change daily. What they tell us today is wrong tomorrow. If you want to put that much trust in Twitter go ahead, but it is dangerous. Should the phone company shut off your phone if they don't like what you say or if you say something false? First off what specifically did you google cause you didn’t say. Again kind of hard to argue your point if you don’t include what you’re searching. Second point, it doesn’t matter if it’s censorship or not it’s still twitters platform to do as they please because they own it. Censorship is also not illegal. And as already pointed out your analogy is weak. Your private conversation with one person or multiple people is not monitored by the phone company nor do they have policies against what you can or can’t say. And if someone calls you you don’t like you could not take the call. Phone calls are not put out to the public for everyone to see. The one point I keep coming back to that you keep failing to acknowledge, Is that Twitter owns the platform you’re using their service and they decide what the content they don’t like. The best way to fight against that is the boycott it.1 point -
Fortnite now runs at 90Hz on the OnePlus 8 series thanks to a new partnership
Geezy reacted to dustojnikhummer for a topic
To reduce battery consumption and heat generation. Additionally, it provides image stability. If the FPS varies a lot you'll perceive the difference, potentially making the game feel sluggish after a period of higher FPS. (This can be expanded on much more.) You don't have to explain to me what VSync does. I would much prefer being able to select lower settings with uncapped framerate, just like on PC.1 point -

A steal? It’s an expensive piece of brick that really can’t do anymore than browse the web and some office software. At least the iPad, though it’s pricey, have a huge reservoir of software available. what were the fools at Microsoft thinking with this piece of junk? I've always said if MS wanted to succed on ARM they need to push cheaper devices - that's how android got traction, and that's also why the most sold Windows ARM device was the Nokia 520. There are plenty of Asian OEMs who'd be happy to try a Google alternative, and many MS/tech fans who'd love to have aWindows ARM device if if were affordable enough. Heck even releasing a version for raspberry pi, or making it compatible with other/lower end chips to allow it to be flashed to existing tablets/Chromebooks would've gained userbase and developer base. But no, MS has to deliver too little, too late, and way too expensive1 point -

Try editing any article which peddles leftist propaganda and give a counter balanced (not rightist or nationalistic) viewpoint with proper news articles. Your edit will not stay and will be reverted back to original. There are many blogs and news stories complaining about the same. Sooo.. sources, examples?
