  8. I don't really understand what ideas he thinks were so unique about AppGet? The Name? apt-get, OneGet (MS), NuGet (MS) were all released before AppGet. Storing App/Installer Manifests on Github? Scoop did that before AppGet existed. https://github.com/ScoopInstaller/Main/tree/master/bucket The Code? AppGet is written in C#, WinGet in C++, it's not like they just forked the project and gave no credit The main similarity seems to be they used a similar structure for the yaml manifest files. Calling it a 'copy' because of that is a stretch. WinGet seems no more of a copy of AppGet than AppGet does of Scoop.

  11. It's not that, they basically censor views they don't agree with and then claim it's hate speech or some other BS just so they can censor it. that's where the core of the problem is. basically you can pretty much do what you want if your views are on the left, but if your on the right they are quick to censor you for next to nothing. Again, Twitter didn't censor Trump. They basically "fact checked" his Tweet and tagged it, no different than what news organization do today when Trump speaks.

  12. Trump is always criticizing fake news. He said something that has been repeatedly investigated and repeatedly debunked. It was Fake News. Twitter did not remove the post they simply said it may not be true. What I love is that Twitter saying Oh that may not be true is communism...but a president saying he will shut down media outlets that do not paint him in a favorable light (and not for the first time), is okay? Engaging in debate with your leaders...Communism, shutting down the free press...Patriotic? Do you want a dictionary for Christmas?

  13. It's no more prone to fraud than other methods of voting. People simply don't go around stealing ballots, en masse, pulling them off mail trucks, or throw them away at processing center. It's just yet another republican conspiracy theory. Ways to further ensure ballots are properly received: - Text message saying their request for a mail in ballot was received - Text message/tracking number when mail in ballot is sent AND delivered to voter - Text message/tracking number when mail in ballot is received by election board My county already has some of this in place, but considering how unmotivated the current senate is in regards to election reforms, it'll never happen nationally. They'd lose yet another talking point that's nothing more than fluff and red meat to their base. Mail-in voting was utilized in my state for the primary, in fact it was the only method of voting. It'll be a hard sell to remove it now that it successfully worked. There were also ballot issues, i.e levies, local elections, etc... Mail-in voting is happening in November, whether Trump and his base like it or not. And it'll be on a large scale. Red states might go ahead and restrict its use. Swing states though... outside of Wisconsin, all signs point to it being a viable option. Wisconsin election board also took a ton of flack for their behavior during the primary, voters were not thrilled that they were being pushed to vote, right at the time when covid was really taking off, all so partisans could make sure their supreme court judges could be voted on. It ended up biting them. If only we had online voting. But that'd get everyone to vote, and well, suppressing the vote is how some people stay elected.

  15. If the platforms silence conservative voices more often than liberal ones, it's because the conservative ones break rules of common decency more often. You can express whatever opinion you want on things that are a matter of opinion. But when you do the same with facts, that is called lying, and it should rightly be stopped, even in the name of free speech. If Trump wishes to promote a hard-right agenda, and does so with well-verified statements and considered policies, he is welcome to.

  16. They've applied these tags to plenty of other tweets, just not the presidents. When outright false information is being disseminated to users on their platform, they are entirely responsible for moderating its content. It's about damn time they finally applied the same moderation to his tweets as well, he's continually been a one off with their policies, hope they continue to tag things easily verified as false. And Communism? lol. No. Twitter is a private service, the government isn't censoring anyone whatsoever in your nutty scenario, how would that be communism? The irony in your statement is that Trump/government wanting to shutdown social media because he doesn't like their opinion and thinks it's misleading, that may be.

  17. Elixir of youth and health. :)

tech forum is not the place for health advice as this thread shows. 🤣 sunlight is EXTREMELY beneficial to you, just have to keep it in low doses. You get vitamin D from it. Humans need sunlight. There are tons of studies that show benefits of light therapy, but some sunshine on you body while wearing minimal amount of clothes is very healthy I agree on a lot of water, however teas are also very beneficial - again, this is a fact. coffee is a 2 sided coin as it is acidic however it is also benificial so the consensus is hard to reach. i will tell you the biggest real thing that can help. avoid processed foods and stay away from sugar as much as humanly possible. THIS IS THE BIGGEST FACTOR FOR YOUR HEALTH. not avoiding tea/coffer/sunlight completely. (source - years of research and contact with top fitness/health specialists)

  20. Developer claims that Windows Package Manager copied AppGet

Based on the timeline the developer was still interviewing for this potential job in December 2019. They also indicated they attempted to contact human resources at Microsoft in February 2020. So we are left to believe that Microsoft wrote WinGet in less than 3 months during a pandemic? You have to understand that Microsoft had no idea their Build conference would be virtually back in December 2019. They were already working on their presentations that would happen for build 2020. People can spend thousands of dollars, in order to travel to Build conferences, they are not going to plan to present something that isn't even being internally tested within Microsoft. I suspect there is more to this story, I believe he was contacted by Microsoft, and they might have thought about acquiring AppGet but ultimately decided against it. As others have pointed out OneGet, was released all the way back in 2015, with the release of `Windows 10 version 1507`. I am not entirely sure the reason Microsoft, would have even entertained the idea of acquiring AppGet, there wasn't anything exactly amazing about it. The first commit to GitHub for AppGet was back in October 2014. We know that OneGet was released in July 2015, since the Insider Preview program for Windows 10 started in 2014, OneGet was likely being developed in the same time frame. According to their other blog post, AppGet itself is an attempt to fix Chocolatey, which is what OneGet was designed to work with. I simply see this as an idication that Microsoft, decided that trying to design another Windows feature around a third-party like Chocolatey or AppGet wouldn't be in their best interest, and decided to take the best ideas from both. Did I mention the developer stopped working on AppGet for nearly 4 years? They also mentioned that AppGet would be a package repository for OneGet back in 2018.

  24. Yes really looking forward to the PS5, the speed of their SSD will hopefully be a game changer which will filter down the industry but at a price. Both consoles will be great, I am expecting the PS5 to be priced around $400 with the Series X at $500 but if Sony somehow price even lower this will be an issue for the rumoured 1080p Lockhart.
    2 points
  25. Who cares, it will be $400-$500 and it will be a one time investment to play games. I'll just get both anyway. The real problem will be all the bundles being sold, auction hoarders, and eBay scammers. My problem with MS charging $100 more this gen was their underperforming hardware and forced bundling of kinect. And the hardware just can't handle current games, it couldn't even last all gen. You were paying more for less. With the PS3 the extra price didn't seem to get you anything except backwards compatibility and they struggled to get software parity. Eventually the price came down and software was there and then gamers went for it because they struck a good balance. The One X cost more but gave you appropriately more in the cooling design and hardware performance. People seemed to be OK with that. If the price and the delivery match then I will be OK with what each decide to charge for their box.

  33. A lie is not a valid "opinion". It's a falsehood. President Pathological Liar has every right to lie over 16,000 times now to the public. Just as every American has the right to point out that he's a pathological liar. The facts are the facts. And everyone is entitled in the US to their opinion of the facts and even to lie about them, as Trump does constantly. But he doesn't get to lie and not be called out on it. Fortunately, he has no power over banning or censoring social media. He's lying about that too, of course.

Twitter is a platform where its users comment and rant: To their liking and to other's disliking - within the boundaries of the law. And often outside the boundaries of good taste and decency. It's not Twitter who should comment and rant on their users. - There are laws that determine and regulate what is lawful/unlawful. Twitter et al are not law enforcement, nor are they judges and executioners. Nor are they all those institutions and more in one person. If it were a public, government entity. Maybe. As it stands being a private company, that’s completely incorrect.

But that's a part of "freedom" some can't seem to grasp.

  37. Thru the years being a member of your site, I think we've disagreed on maybe.. three things? This sure isn't one of them. Seems what most people don't get, is that Twitter is bound by law not to delete his tweets because they are then part of Congressional record. He deletes them anyways from time to time (but those are easily found)... thus breaking the law. Which he does without question to consequence. He cannot help himself from lying. His narcissistic ego prevents him from doing so. And since he lives in his own world, the rest of us can only sit back and watch that cluster ###### continue to reach lows most only imagine can be reached. It's sad in a way.. but more often than not, immoral and recently given his "Democratic hoax" approach to the COVID-19 pandemic, deadly.

  38. Ok, first let's set the ground work: Trump is a habitual liar. The amount of mail-in voting fraud is so minute it probably wouldn't register so it's not a big deal and steps can be taken to secure mail-in voting. While you just highlighted the news organizations sentence, you didn't call out the last sentence, experts; and Trump is no expert. Remember his failed committee looking into voting fraud in 2016, politics/trump-dismantles-voter-fraud-commission-heres-what-the-controversial-group-did?

  39. It's not okay for a president to spread lies without being called out on it. We need a checks and balance system for social media or we end up in an Orwellian 1984 where the lie becomes the truth and truth becomes the lie.

  42. No, it's not. It's their platform and they can do whatever they want. The President as usual is misleading people regarding mail-in ballots and he needs to be called out on it and they need to do it more often. I wish Facebook had the balls to do the same to him.

Sugar is the devil. (devil is just a word I picked for terrible, no religious connotation meant) I've read some studies that show it can be a factor in the development of certain kinds of cancer. It's addictive. Our bodies need sugar but only small amounts. It's one of the reasons that the intermittent fasting diets are working well for people. The IF diet works the opposite of insulin dependency. Plus the fact that we as hunter gatherers might not have eaten for days in our ancestors history. Back then, there wasn't a burger joint on every corner.
