Motherboard Recommendations
Newb and one other reacted to goretsky for a topic
Hello, On a different site, I have seen many complaints about ASRock's line of AMD motherboards at the value end of the spectrum (e.g., their least expensive models). I have around five Intel-based ASRock systems and have not had any issues with them, but these are mostly motherboards from their server group, and not their consumer division. MSI's AMD-based boards seem to get recommended a lot because some of their models have the ability to update the BIOS (UEFI) firmware without a CPU installed. This is important, because some AMD-based motherboards didn't work with some AMD CPUs without first upgrading their BIOS. This forced AMD to introduce a "processor loan program" so that people could get their motherboard updated to work with the CPU they bought. ASUS' AMD-based boards seem to have a good reputation, but I am unsure if they have the same BIOS update feature as MSI's. They also tend to be a little more expensive. I do not have any AMD-based systems myself right now, but am currently using an ASUS workstation motherboard in my primary desktop. The one before that had an ASRock motherboard. You're welcome to your opinion, just not your own facts. Twitter adding a notation about voter fraud and mail-in ballots to Trump's false tweet is not expressing an opinion but simply providing actual context to what Trump was referring to. As for where does Twitter get off doing whatever they want to do with their own platform should be obvious but they also have the law on their side to that backs that up. Section 230 https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/47/230" rel="external nofollow" style="user-select: auto;">https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/47/230" rel="external nofollow" style="user-select: auto;">https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/47/230" rel="external nofollow">https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/47/230" rel="external nofollow" style="user-select: auto;">https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/47/230" rel="external nofollow" style="user-select: auto;">https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/47/230" rel="external nofollow">https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/47/230" rel="external nofollow" style="user-select: auto;">https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/47/230" rel="external nofollow">https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/47/230" rel="external nofollow" style="user-select: auto;">https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/47/230" rel="external nofollow" style="user-select: auto;">https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/47/230" rel="external nofollow">https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/47/230" rel="external nofollow" style="user-select: auto;">https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/47/230 So yes they actually can and do restrict content when it goes against the TOS, again they have the legal right to do so. These claims are unsubstantiated, according to CNN, Washington Post and others. Experts say mail-in ballots are very rarely linked to voter fraud. What Trump tweeted was an unsubstantiated claim, not an opinion. California does not send out millions of ballots to anyone in the state no matter who they are or how they got there as Trump claimed. They are mailed out to registered voters. And who are these so called professionals telling everyone else who to vote for? Trump made a number of claims in his tweets and offers noting to back up said claim. All Twitter did was tweet out what I already provided and linked above. So please show me where twitter violated section 230? Also where did Dorsey say they were wrong? Just yesterday he said they'ed continue to flag incorrect info. https://www.blackenterprise.co" rel="external nofollow" style="user-select: auto;">https://www.blackenterprise.co...-about-elections-globally/" rel="external nofollow" style="user-select: auto;">https://www.blackenterprise.co" rel="external nofollow">https://www.blackenterprise.co" rel="external nofollow" style="user-select: auto;">https://www.blackenterprise.co...n-about-elections-globally/ Lastly don't confuse a local NAACP head with a national view or that what happened there is a national problem in general. The article I posted had to do with your claim that " Jack has come out and admitted what they did was wrong!", which was not the case. It did not have to do with mail in vote fraud. At no point in my post did I deny that fraud existed. What I said was that Trump made an unsubstantiated claim, which based on Trump's own words, is still true. So it took you two days to come up with a reply that not only doesn't address what you quoted me on but you still have failed to support your own claims that Jack admitted they did wrong and that there was a violation of section 230. You may check this website every day, I however do not... I was reading between the lines on Jack's post, that he is ultimately responsible and the people that censored Trump's quote should not be blamed. They are hiding the tweets made, which is a form of censorship. You stated the claims were unsubstantiated that future elections could have voter fraud, I gave links showing other people agree that future elections can have fraud. How can you fact-check a future possibility? That's my point! A statement can either be an opinion or a fact, if a statement is made about the future, it MUST be an opinion, and hence can not be fact-checked! It'd be as stupid as if Trump tweeted "Tonight I am going to eat hamburgers for dinner and they'll be delicious" TWITTER Fact-Check ref: WaPo-Hamburgers are terrible and can not be referred to as delicious So by "reading between the lines" you filled in your own blanks that fit your narrative, even though Jack's own words and actions are a complete 180 to your thinking. FYI the original two tweets Trump put out were never censored. You might want to read up on what censoring actually means cause with those 2 tweets, neither of them were censored or hided. They are are still up for anyone to read. Here is the actual link to his un-hidden tweets https://twitter.com/realDonald.../status/1265255845358645254 Now that isn't to say another tweet wasn't hidden by twitter. That being the one where Trump called for violence days after his original tweets were marked with additional information. Obviously the tweet hidden went against Twitter's TOS. My question to you, is that given his tweet violated Twitter's TOS on violence, are you ok with them hiding it? If not, please explain why. Here is an image of the tweet https://i.imgur.com/A8yBJji.jpg You also seem to be having some reading comprehension issues as I never claimed future elections could not have fraud. Literally nothing in my post suggested that. I even said "At no point in my post did I deny that fraud existed". That is not the same as saying fraud could not happen. Your "reading between the lines" skills could use some work. What I said was Trump's claims were unsubstantiated, which is still true, what he said in those tweets, which I linked above, do not have substantial evidence to support them. There is no evidence of mass fraud of robbing mail boxes, ballots being forged or illegally printed and signed. Does it happen on a smaller scale, sure, but there has never been a case where mass fraud has happened during a national election for which Trump is referring to. The other false claim Trump made was that millions of ballots were mailed out to anyone living in the state no matter who they are and how they got there. Ballots are mailed out to registered voters. You know, those people who have established residency and who have the legal right to vote. He then went on to claim that "professionals", no clue who that is supposed to be, would be telling others whom to vote for. Again, like so many times before, Trump offers up no supporting evidence to his claims. The opinion in his tweet is that this upcoming election will be rigged. You can argue semantics all you want about his prediction of what in his mind will happen but the fact is, he's making claims that don't support reality. What's odd is that you seem more upset that Twitter posted a label regarding his tweets but don't seem to have a care in the world that the POTUS is lying, on almost a daily basis at that. Seems odd you wouldn't hold the POTUS to the higher standard then some internet platform. As for twitter's "fact check" here is the actual wording and link to it. https://twitter.com/i/events/1265330601034256384 "On Tuesday, President Trump made a series of claims about potential voter fraud after California Governor Gavin Newsom announced an effort to expand mail-in voting in California during the COVID-19 pandemic. These claims are unsubstantiated, according to CNN, Washington Post and others. Experts say mail-in ballots are very rarely linked to voter fraud" That's it, that's all it was. That's what you're arguing against, seems very silly to get so worked up over.2 points -

Note this line from Wikipedia, "Welles later remarked that Hitler cited the effect of the broadcast on the American public as evidence of "the corrupt condition and decadent state of affairs in democracy"." So Hitler was an authoritarian that used the broadcast as evidence why democracy was bad and speech needed to be controlled. Radio stations and twitter are not the same platform type. This was bound to happen and not with just EU countries but a lot around the world. The more Trump tries to use American companies as a political weapon, the more it backfires and others will look for alternatives to those techs and services and the ones paying the price are American corporations because of the arrogance of the US government and what's funny is those American corporations pleaded with the US government to back down on the trade wars but now it's too late, others will shift focus away from the US out of security reason. It's also looking like EU countries are putting more focus on trade with China, they likely see a big opening as the US gets push out, others can fill that void.1 point -

Store is not important anymore All their new apps like Office, Teams, Skype are not going through the store. Also stuff like Edge and the upcoming Xbox / Windows Gamepass app is distributed from the website. Other store exclusives like the game Sea Of Thieves launched today on Steam, like many other MS titles. It will be like UWP, the store will not be going anywhere. But the focus lie elsewhere due to its failure. The Universal Windows Platform (UWP) isn't going anywhere. Microsoft Store might see some serious changes in the future, I suspect that in the future, an integration between WinGet and Microsoft Store will be possible. With the shift and combining of UWP and Win32 back into one thing there's no way the store doesn't change. The store will be a big part of Windows 10X for sure so I think we'll see the changes there first before they come to desktop Windows 10.1 point -

TBF a lot of the open source community just replaces profit with reputation. It's "free and open", but attribution is everything. It's only ironic that something "inspired by" an open source project is expected to make attributions while the KDE community still insists after decades that its UI isn't just an on-going echo of Windows.1 point -

Donald Trump suggests social media could be shut down due to bias against conservatives
+Jester124 reacted to shockz for a topic
They've applied these tags to plenty of other tweets, just not the presidents. When outright false information is being disseminated to users on their platform, they are entirely responsible for moderating its content. It's about damn time they finally applied the same moderation to his tweets as well, he's continually been a one off with their policies, hope they continue to tag things easily verified as false. And Communism? lol. No. Twitter is a private service, the government isn't censoring anyone whatsoever in your nutty scenario, how would that be communism? The irony in your statement is that Trump/government wanting to shutdown social media because he doesn't like their opinion and thinks it's misleading, that may be.1 point -
Intel Core i5-10600K review: Mainstream performance sets a new bar

There was a time when components were sensitive and handling them would easily damage them. However, this has not been the case since the early 1980s. There are a lot of self appointed experts that don't understand the basic principles or the technology differences that make such damage nearly impossible. I also offer my experience of designing and building thousands of systems and components, primarily in the 1990s. I have NEVER seen damage from handling PC components (RAM/CPU/etc), even with errant electrostatic discharges. So rest easy. PS A friend sent a video (I think late last year) from JayZTwoCents on Youtube where he abandoned all common scares and myths while assembling a system. The video was funny and more accurate than even Jay might have realized. It is worth looking up for the humor and desensitizing aspect. Since we're into offering up unverifiable and therefore meaningless credentials to back up our opinions now, I offer up that I have worked in IT as a technician for about 22 years (Now End User Compute Manager), and built multiple systems for myself and others before and during that time (maybe not "thousands" like you though). However, I don't declare myself an expert. I've never had any static damage either, but I take precautions where I can. There is a reason that a lot of components come in anti-static bags still. Grounding yourself before handline electronic components with exposed contacts or pins may not be as necessary now as it used to be, but why take that chance? I've never used an actual wrist strap as they're awkward and cumbersome, but leaving the PC plugged in but switched off, and touching the case before handling components is sensible still, I think.1 point -
Michigan care home patient, 75, brutally beaten in attack caught on video

Totally disgusting. Local reports are this was another patient, not all nursing home patients being elderly - which IMO is an issue in iitsrlf. The tweetstorm about the video caught the attention of Detroit cops and the perp was arrested. Dr. Gau needs to pull his head out. Turning legit outrage by POTUS (who wouldn't be?!?), who was in Michigan when the story broke, into an opportunity for a political attack is shameful. TDS at it's absolute worst 😠1 point -
