Apple is tracking down looted devices in the U.S.
psmoked and 11 others reacted to shockz for a topic
they stole nothing from you but Apple steals from you by avoiding paying taxes and for some reasons you prefer to target your anger towards the ones who stole nothing from you the defenders of capitalism are a weird species Wtf. No. They stole nothing from me, correct, but they certainly did steal from a store... funny how you omitted that. Your thought process is mind blowing by trying to toss corporate taxes into the mix. Two wrongs don't make a right.12 points -

I think they should have left them operational and tracked them in the background instead and tipped off police. These looters are not part of any peaceful protest, they are scum and if they can be removed from everyday life then that's only a good thing.12 points -

I don’t play this but how stupid what a lot of these companies do. It would be better to show a message after launching the game about this situation and offer an exclusive item 15 dollar item in the store that people can buy to show support and donate 100 percent of profits to the cause and preferably add 20 percent themselves. But of course this action requires effort and doesn’t generate as much PR tabloid buzz as shutting down the server or a self profit by postponing free DLC like COD. Must say most of the game industry is handling this totally in the wrong and hypocrite way compared to other industries. Also 2 hours sounds more like weekly server maintenance masked as BLM7 points -

Microsoft's Chromium-based Edge browser starts rolling out over Windows Update
aphanic and 2 others reacted to devHead for a topic
So you've not actually used the new version of Edge but are writing it off anyway? I used it a while back and to me it was just another chrome clone, but with MS cloud all over it. But that is not the point, I am not writing it off, I am just saying I would prefer it if Ms gave us a choice instead of forcing it onto my computer. I am fine with the browser I am using I have no requirement to change, even if Ms think I should . This The new Edge will arrive via Windows Update, although future updates will arrive through the browser itself. Once your system reboots, you'll be greeted by a full-screen, 30-second-ish intro that forces you to set up the app So I will have to go through a 30 intro, even if i am not going to use the software and set something up I am not going to use. If i don't use it, then that means it will never be updated. You literally complain about everything Microsoft does. Do you think people are still going to take you seriously if you are never happy about anything they do?3 points -

Google takes down viral 'Remove China Apps' app from Play Store for violating guidelines
Eternal Tempest and 2 others reacted to greensabath for a topic
"The app was not stealing user data or doing anything shady in the background." - Is this direct from Google? Where is the proof of this? The app developer can easily fix itself to be in compliance by doing the following: 1. Rename app to "Identify Chinese Apps" 2. Provide the list of apps It will now be in compliance.3 points -

This is why I hate "political correct companies". Whatever the industry, if one says #metoo, dozens more pop up because they want to avoid blacklash of not being in tone at the end of they day, they don't care. They just don't want to lose customers. Or 'fans' (for example you work for Microsoft but follow Nike). this has been happening of DECADES so it's tiresome because you know deep inside, they do it because other companies do it. Which, I don't care...let them be FREE. I don't like folks decide the company posture. Don't like it, it's your problem. It's always sensitive topics...2 points -

they stole nothing from you but Apple steals from you by avoiding paying taxes and for some reasons you prefer to target your anger towards the ones who stole nothing from you the defenders of capitalism are a weird species They didn't just target apple, they targetted everything. Including small non-chain/family owned stores - do you think it's fair on them? Do you think that it's fair that they might have to shut their businesses down due to the reduced turnout from corona and now the huge cost to repair their store and replace all their stolen stock? And quite frankly your reasoning of tax is absurd, that is altogether an entirely different thing, this isn't about tax. And just for your information, the people that end up paying for this is the ordinary citizen that doesn't go looting. Stores have to make the profit back up, so they raise the prices to compensate and you pay more, and they probably keep pay rises lower or stop them entirely too. Great, screw over the hard working people...2 points -

I live in country with 40 years of history living in communism and there is such a says from that past, which, unfortunatelly, is present in my country even after 30 years living in democracy/capitalism: Who is not stealing, is robbing his own familly. Looters as well as Apple if avoiding paying taxes illegal way, have to be punished. Doesn’t matter if it is capitalism or communism or any other system/regime. It’s not about defending capitalism, it's about protecting the decency and basic rules of society.2 points -

Except they specifically remove any feature that required Google services? Google sticks a lot of extra stuff on their browser, it's kind of crazy all the things MS listed they took out when they started using chromium. I'm sure all the other browser makers like vivaldi do the same. And MS just replaced Google's "Bloat" with their own. Edgium is no more or less bloated than Chrome. Ultimately, very true. However, there are levels and thresholds of companies trying to do right by users and companies fighting for the right to screw them over. This reminds me of when someone says that all the politicians are crooks. Sure, but some are serial killers, and some have a speeding ticket - two entirely different thresholds. who are you to decide who is part of the peaceful protesters. i thought apple is left leaning why are they tracking the phones taken by the oppressed people? By what you clearly just stated, they are not part of the peaceful protests. Those protests do not include looting and rioting. The minute those are involved, they are no longer peaceful and are removed from the the people still acting in accordance. Just because they walk up and stand for a couple minutes before they cause violence and chaos does not include them or associate anyone else in their stupid acts. That would be the same as you were at the bank making a deposit and it gets robbed. You did nothing or didn't know about it, so now you are an accomplice along with everyone else in the bank at that time. Yes, apple is a more progressive company, but to assume that a business will not try to recoup stolen goods is just plain idiotic.1 point -

Twitter suspends accounts tweeting #dcblackout to curb misinformation
Jumping Jacinta reacted to mudslag for a topic
Exactly what censorship are you referring to? Is it really censorship is a tweet goes against Twitter's TOS? The TOS excuse could be applied to just about anything they want. But an example of censorship is right here in this article. The reality is censorship will ALWAYS exist in some form. Odds are even you find that exceptions exist for some forms of censorship. Are you ok with censoring child porn? What about revenge porn or plans on making IEDs. Are you ok with calls for violence? Censorship exists all ALL walks of life, even outside the net. The First Amendment even has it's limitations. TOSs exist not for your benefit of the user but for the benefit of the company. You agree to the terms whenever you sign up, just as you agreed to the terms when you signed up here for neowin. By sticking with neowin or twitter or who ever you are agreeing to their terms, not the other way around. If Twitter knowingly and openly changed their TOS based on a specific tweet of a specific person in order to ban them, then you "might" and I stress "might" have an option in the courts but even then you're still on thin ice. Til then, you're still at the mercy of Twitters rules, not the rules you think or want should apply. If you don't like it, don't use their services.1 point -
