"I have resigned as a member of the reddit board, I have urged them to fill my seat with a black candidate" That's just racist. People should be hired based on merit. Imagine if there was a requirement for a white candidate, people would loose their ######. Yet we're supposed to believe that blacks are somehow disadvantaged when they can riot and loot and face zero consequences. Talk about being a protected class...8 points -

First of all, what he wants is for a qualified black individual to take over his position. Secondly, you can talk meritocracy but until black children have equal access to education and the same amount of social mobility as white children then there are going to be clear disadvantages for the black population, hence the need for this type of affirmative action. Btw, affirmative action continues to be responsible for allowing white women in the United States and white men from poorer/rural regions in the United States to get increased education and economic opportunities; and the reasons are similar for why this action is also necessary for black individuals (people born in marginalized poorer community, very low social mobility, insufficient access to education, and fewer economic opportunities often by virtue of the region they live in). Finally, the protests in the United States, especially the more recent ones, have largely been peaceful. All you need is some group of opportunists to cause harm (many of whom were not black mind you, the looters were from many different backgrounds with different motivations). Moreover, I am quite surprised you are calling black individuals a protected class when the very reason behind these protests are police violence and killings that disproportionately impacts the black population. If they were of a protected class then incidents such as the murder of George Floyd would not have happened (amongst many other similar incidents).5 points -

You know what else "isn't what it used to be"? Hardware. There is -so- much more of it than 15 years ago. Thousands of motherboards relased over the last decade.... dozens of new CPUs every year.... a whole bunch of different GPU chipsets, multiplied by many vendors selling several variants of each chipset.... a much wider variety of complex connectivity standards than ever before.... many, many combinations of RAM sizes, speeds, and latency timings. On and on and on. And that's before we get to quality variances with individual pieces of hardware. Maybe a particular component on a particular entry-level motherboard doesn't do very well with a certain amount of PSU ripple, and will cause some kind of failure once every month or so, and only in areas where the user's original source of power isn't clean. Do you see? It is basically impossible to test everything now. Sorry but that is a poor excuse, I am old enough to remember in the 90's being even more to choose from, Cyrix CPUs were also a mainstream thing and GPUs didn't even have the standard like the mainly two choices you see today between AMD and Nvidia, and their respective lines of GPUs also are based off one same-gen of tech (Pascal, Turing etc). 68k is correct and it isn't limited to Microsoft, companies keep putting beta products in the hands of consumers who have to suffer throughn the first gen of hardware and software releases due to a lack of proper QA.5 points -

I don’t play this but how stupid what a lot of these companies do. It would be better to show a message after launching the game about this situation and offer an exclusive item 15 dollar item in the store that people can buy to show support and donate 100 percent of profits to the cause and preferably add 20 percent themselves. But of course this action requires effort and doesn’t generate as much PR tabloid buzz as shutting down the server or a self profit by postponing free DLC like COD. Must say most of the game industry is handling this totally in the wrong and hypocrite way compared to other industries. Also 2 hours sounds more like weekly server maintenance masked as BLM4 points -

"68k is correct and it isn't limited to Microsoft, companies keep putting beta products in the hands of consumers who have to suffer throughn the first gen of hardware and software releases due to a lack of proper QA." I completely agree and see it first hand where I work. We give time estimates for things and have time for testing but then as the product development continues we're told by management it needs to be out faster, we need to reduce the features, we need to work harder, we need to reduce the hours we estimated and testing always gets thrown out first - in every project. I've seen it bite the company so many times and in some instances I'm surprised the customers using the devices still buy them because at times the quality of the code has been absolutely ######. I've just learnt now to pad my hours for tasks to include testing time, I refuse to release code that isn't thoroughly tested but the other parts in the company... No testing is their standard option.3 points -

Apple is tracking down looted devices in the U.S.
+hedleigh and one other reacted to n_K for a topic
who are you to decide who is part of the peaceful protesters. i thought apple is left leaning why are they tracking the phones taken by the oppressed people? By what you clearly just stated, they are not part of the peaceful protests. Those protests do not include looting and rioting. The minute those are involved, they are no longer peaceful and are removed from the the people still acting in accordance. Just because they walk up and stand for a couple minutes before they cause violence and chaos does not include them or associate anyone else in their stupid acts. That would be the same as you were at the bank making a deposit and it gets robbed. You did nothing or didn't know about it, so now you are an accomplice along with everyone else in the bank at that time. Yes, apple is a more progressive company, but to assume that a business will not try to recoup stolen goods is just plain idiotic. don't deceive yourself because all those looting and riots always stem from the peaceful protest. they are part of it, they are protesting as a result of George. apple is pushing left wing agenda, these riots are supported by the democrat leaders, they should not be recovery them back because it is a march they all support. who will recover the black small business that was looted? hypocrites "don't deceive yourself because all those looting and riots always stem from the peaceful protest. they are part of it, they are protesting as a result of George." Newsflash: people claim they are doing something as part of something else when really the two are nothing alike. Like how religion was used to justify the crusades (show me in the bible where it says you shall go and murder everyone that chooses to not believe your religion), or how 'children accessing porn' was used to justify a UK-wide porn filter. The people doing the looting see the situation and think 'wow, I have an oppertunity here, police are distracted, I can go and be a complete scumbag and have a high change of success' so they go and do it, they are not there for a peaceful protest and they probably don't even care about this entire situation that the protest is about.2 points -

what about driver issue? ah right it must be always only M$ fault, you cannot even write Microsoft, you feel so cool now, right I understand that all this seems to be driver issues causing the update to break, and I wish manufactures would maintain drivers a little longer.. but why is it this update causing the drivers to break? According to Device Manager, my computer has been using a display driver dated 23/03/2016, and I've only clean installed this machine with the first preview release of Windows 10. So that means by my calculations this exact same driver has been present on my computer for a total of SEVEN major Windows 10 updates (1607, 1703, 1709, 1803, 1809, 1903, 1909) without issue. Yet with 2004, it fell apart. So why is this driver at fault when it comes to Windows 2004?1 point -
