"I have resigned as a member of the reddit board, I have urged them to fill my seat with a black candidate" That's just racist. People should be hired based on merit. Imagine if there was a requirement for a white candidate, people would loose their ######. Yet we're supposed to believe that blacks are somehow disadvantaged when they can riot and loot and face zero consequences. Talk about being a protected class...

Hydrogen upper stages have a greater specific impulse, efficiency, but it comes at a high cost; expensive metallurgy and coatings to reduce hydrogen embrittlement of the tanks, plumbing, and engine. Hydrogen atoms penetrate the metal, weakening it. No embrittlement problem using rocket grade kerosene (RP-1) - it has a higher bulk density, meaning smaller tanks (lower dry mass). Weakness: Falcon 9 upper stage life due to the RP-1 gelling in the cold and battery life. In the end, a hydrogen upper stage ends up better than Falcon 9 using an RP-1 upper stage for very high energy launches, but even then Falcon Heavy beats hydrogen on cost by using brute force and recent techs which extend upper stage life; bigger batteries (thank you Tesla) and fuel warming. Starship hits the happy middle by using methane.

x64 version of all Chromium browsers including Chrome, installs into x86 folder. That was a known issue for years, Google doesn't fix it. I sent a feedback to Edge team for that months ago but they did nothing, maybe it's a Chromium problem. Opera doesn't, the 64-bit version is installed to the right folder when installed system-wide. I'd say it has more to do with them not caring about it than anything else, since it works just fine the way it's installed now. Besides, all making an installer that chooses the right folder is trivial Consistency seems unimportant for many devs. Opera's installation destination is not even Program Files (x86 or x64) folder. Default destination is C:\Users[system profile]\AppData\ And that isn't the right folder either, and it's odder. True, it does work just fine although it's a pear in the apple basket. And Google/Microsoft being just lazy to fix it. If Microsoft seperated x64 and x86 folders, I wonder why it would let x64 programs into x86 folder. If those folders are not different, why seperated them in the first place. By the way, I never seen any other program installing itself into wrong Program Files folder before. Unless Opera doesn’t install for all users, that’s not it’s default location for a system installation. That is a single user location.

  18. Intel Core i9-10900K review: For a top-end gaming build

Cooling isn't hard, and power usage isn't much different than its predecessor. The lowered IHS makes all the new 10 series Intel CPUs run cooler than the 9 series. As for benchmarks, there are a ton of online tests in real world gaming, and this is essentially the fastest consumer processor for raw gaming FPS. I would recommend the AMD 3900X to most people over this processor, but if they only care about pure gaming performance, this is the the CPU for them. The 10600K is also impressive in games, and like the 10900K, rules the single thread core performance, beating the Zen 2 Ryzen.

  19. Going through someone's server, of course you'll need to authenticate. Down the road it'll probably support multiple devices if it doesn't already (think Pushbullet), going to be required anyway. Almost every service like this requires a centralized server, only one coming to mind that doesn't is KDE Connect, and that's limited to a one way connection, when it works at all. The idea of authenticating in such a manner simply to access one's phone that is stored locally is ludicrous to me ! There are other ways to do this. waysidedc - you REALLY hate authentication, don't you? Authentication of SOME sort - merely to prove that the users is who they say they are) i going to be a needful; doesn't matter who is Authentication Authority is. What is the REAL issue - who the Authentication Authority is? Or is really that there IS one?

Your worried about upgrading a 7700k CPU? ; seems like largely a waste of $ as I would assume your CPU still gets solid performance (easily more than good enough) when paired with a decent GPU on games, especially if one is not going too crazy on screen resolution which I could easily live without. so it's largely a waste of $ (like $ spent to real world performance gained would not be enough to justify the $. because even if you get a good performance boost, once someone reaches 60fps+ beyond that is pretty much a waste of $ and one could easily live with a fair amount under 60fps and still have a solid gaming experience since I tend to use the 30fps-ish standard is playable and 60fps+ is perfect). chances are I, along with most other people, could easily get several years (probably at minimum, 3-5 years from now) out of your CPU before gaming performance would fall below a playable, if not pretty good, level. p.s. in my case I would be able to much easier justify upgrading since I am on a i3-2120 CPU (released in 2011 but I had it since May 2012) as my performance increase would be MUCH more profound and I could do it for minimal $. hell, I suspect even if I had a i5 range CPU from similar generation I would still be okay. but at this point it's probably not worth me upgrading my i3 to a i5 on my current motherboard because the cost would like be better put towards another build unless I could get the CPU for near dirt cheap (say maybe $30-ish tops and the CPU has to include a decent heatsink). but my CPU is the clear weak link in my gaming setup... i3-2120 on a 1050 Ti 4GB (which is still good enough for 1080p level gaming) as just going from a i3 to a i5 CPU would give me a solid boost. That's probably the case, but my media server isn't up to the task anymore. It's an old Core 2 Quad 9550. So it's either upgrade my desktop and make the 7700k the media server or just upgrade the media server alone. Also, I really want to have a go with a Ryzen build. It's been nearly 20 years since my last AMD processor. I'd prefer to do that on the desktop though so I actually use it.

  27. New system build, system will not turn on/POST

Oh, I forgot, the case switches were wired to the motherboard incorrectly, but that is more a fault of Asus then my wife, they did not print the names on the board, so it was very hard to tell where to plug the cords in, and apparently the ram needed to be in 2,4 not 1,3 so both of those could have caused the no power issue.

What a racist jackass. There is literally ZERO reason to do something like this unless he walked into Reddit and got employed solely because he was white. In which case Reddit is the problem, not him. I like to call idiots who do this kind of ###### "woke racists". He thinks he's so tolerant and accepting by pulling stunt like this yet in reality, he's doing the most racist thing ever. Also, imagine being that black person replacing him. You'd eternally have a feeling (and also perception by everyone else) you're there only because you're black and not because you're good at what you do.

  38. ADJECTIVE Racist: "prejudiced against or antagonistic toward a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized." Do you need those bolded words defined too? Then you are clearly not understanding what you are quoting nor what the issue is in this case. You may want to go back to the speech Chris Rock made when he got to host the Oscars. Especially the response he got from both the hispanic and asian community. In short their response to that speech was: "black people are as worse as white people when it comes to racism". In this case and in current protests you are seeing the exact same thing. People think there are only 2 races when in reality there are more. All the other races should have an equal chance of getting that position. I understand that you have to do an extreme thing such as exclude a white person in order to fix the current issue but that doesn't mean you also have to exclude every other race that isn't black nor does it make it right. Excluding the other ones as well is what makes this action racism. They haven't learned a single thing from the Oscars. If we (aka humanity) want to change the situation then learning from the Oscars is critical.

  39. Successor to NTFS... ReFS or something different?

Regarding a successor to NTFS ... yea ... it is NTFS. Regarding DirectStorage ... it is just an I/O ... not a file system. I think you could compare it with something like Superfetch (which ReadyBoost uses) but on steronands (see what I did there?). I wouldn't be surprised that even if/when it comes to Windows 10 .. it will require a dedicated drive for it to function and probably not the system disc. Though not much is really known about DirectStorage ... this is on the XBox page: ...which is what I'm sourcing my _theory_ on. I couldn't find what file system the Xbox Series X will use...though I wouldn't be shocked if it is NTFS.
