  2. Oh no, I got a facepalm for speaking the truth. Under no circumstance should a ping test be blocked that triggers connectivity alerts. That is in its own definition, idiotic. Why do they do it? Because they think they are blocking malicious phoning home.

  3. Here is how windows 10 knows if your online or not. Windows 10 or later versions: NCSI sends a DNS request to resolve the address of the www.msftconnecttest.com FQDN. If NCSI receives a valid response from a DNS server, NCSI sends a plain HTTP GET request to http://www.msftconnecttest.com/connecttest.txt. If NCSI successfully downloads the text file, it makes sure that the file contains Microsoft Connect Test. NCSI sends another DNS request to resolve the address of the dns.msftncsi.com FQDN. If any of these requests fails, the network alert appears in the Task Bar (as described in Symptoms). If you hover over the icon, you see a message such as "No connectivity" or "Limited Internet access" (depending on which requests failed). If all of these requests succeed, the Task Bar shows the usual network icon. If you hover over the icon, you see a message such as "Internet access." If you have some vpn software that is messing with that, or dns filtering going on, or any sort of security software that blocks such access then sure you could have issues with windows knowing you have internet access.

What's wrong with launching a device right now? economy is bad, corona virus, the useless black lives matter movement. i say they should wait because it will be hard to create awareness or only fans will notice it. people will be more worried about other things to even think about getting a new phone #blacklivesmatter is "useless"?

  11. All 3 of those top choices are bad, don't think anyone wants EA, Acti or Take 2 to buy it. And that $4bil doesn't even give you any of the hit IPs that are owned by WB/DC and will not transfer over. This is pretty dumb though, selling a part that's doing well to help a part that's a crapton in debt.

  17. A 4GB file limit is a file system limitation or an API limitation, not a memory limitation. Video recordings are steamed to storage so don’t have a memory limitation. (Otherwise you couldn’t even get close to 4GB as active RAM would run out)

  39. What do you want them to do? Make a new OS called Doorway? You do realize they already told everyone that this was the last version of "Windows" to be released. I doubt we will see any new OS for at least the next 4-5years as what we have now WORKS...and WORKS FINE. Exactly! Windows 10 works in a lot of areas that previous versions of Windows was either ill-suited or didn't work at all (I've been point to Android ROM-building as a major example). Before merely WSL, you either ran a VM or ran Linux in a dual-boot or multi-boot configuration (not always practical - and especially in a non-corporate/business setting). With WSL 2, that is no longer even necessary; I run Kubuntu in - literally - the SAME partition as Windows 10 - which means it eats no more space. And I have options; it doesn't HAVE to be a 'buntu - look at the number of Linux subsystems that are options in WSL 2. You don't need Hyper-V, either; there are still some things that don't like Hyper-V. While WSL 2 can leverage it, it no longer needs it; all it needs is paravirtualization (hardware virtualization) support. (That means that if you NEED to run a traditional VM option - such as VirtualBox or vmWare - neither of which likes Hyper-V, you can.) Basically, you have greater versatility - not less. What is wrong with that? Just a point of clarification. WSL2 uses Hyper-V architecture to enable its virtualization. As such, when WSL2 is enabled; VMWare, VirtualBox (older than 6.0 ... since 6.0 and higher includes Hyper-V fallback) and other 3rd party virtualization tools may not be able to run. VMWare is working on co-existing with Hyper-V enabled hosts. VMWare Workstation 15.5.5 is already compatible with Hyper-V Right. VMWare 15.5.5 was released at the end of May. My comment was from March.

  40. LOL, what? I mean, I don’t even know where to go with that. We need MS cleaning their #### up, not drastically changing the OS. That’s how this mess began in the first place. So let them or go to another OS. Of course I’ve a feeling you will say that OS has no vision and gone into maintenance mode too once you get there. Lets hear what your vision is? Windows 10 works fine here on two different PC's. Maybe you need to stop installing crap and learn how to use a computer.

So let them or go to another OS. Of course I’ve a feeling you will say that OS has no vision and gone into maintenance mode too once you get there. Lets hear what your vision is? Well, they're not cleaning up their OS. They're adding some better Linux support, which is great for corporate settings. I guess, it's so niche it's crazy. Meanwhile, there is an incredibly long list of features being *cut*, not added. Cut. The features that already there are not being improved at all. Just maintained. You are talking like a person in denial. Open your eyes. There is no vision. They *are* cleaning it up. You are just upset that it’s not at your speed. Small increments are better. Look at OS X. It was a nightmare for the first few years. It’s now working off the same base that they slowly improved over time—for 20+ years. I think the other issue here is that you read release notes and think that is all that is being fixed and improved. If you were able to get a hold of MS’ repo commit log that shows everything, your head would explode. So no, I am not in denial. Wanna take a shot at my question? What is your vision? They are *maintaining* it. In fact it is ironic you mention Mac OS X, because that's another system in maintenance mode. No vision there either. In system this big the changelog is always going to be long, even if it is just maintenance. Hardly a head-exploding log. The log of things being deprecated or stalled indefinitely on Windows 10 is telling of where Microsoft is heading with W10. Nowhere, fast. Do you understand what maintenance mode is? It’s security updates and bug fixes and that is it. Neither OS fits that description. Last time I’m gonna ask before writing you off. WHAT IS YOUR VISION? That's just your fantasy, your definition and your sycophantic justification. I've already written you off, explaining things to sycophants is a waste of time. All talk, no substance. Boohoo, MS has no vision. Then someone asks you no less than three times what your vision is and what we get....silence. 🤣 All talk, no substance has been the very definition of every reply you made. I put as much effort into my reply as you do in yours. I don't have to be a master chef to know the food is mediocre, I don't have to present a vision to point out that there isn't any. Go ahead and apologize some more for the spineless Microsoft execs. Someone who has no vision criticizing a company for having no vision. I’ve heard it all. Im not apologizing for anyone, I’m just pointing out that what you call maintenance mode, isn’t. If that got your knickers in a twist, well...sorry? As I said, I don't have to be a master chef to know the food isn't very good. You're pushing a low effort logical fallacy. It doesn't become any less stupid the more you repeat it. Windows 10 is in maintenance mode, deal with it. So is Mac OS, and has been for more than half a decade. Oh I will deal with it, by laughing at you thinking you know what maintenance mode is. 🤣 Keep going, this is funny. It's when no meaningful features are added and every added feature is actually nothing more than a fix for an older feature and there is a steady stream of cut features. What your personal definition of maintenance mode is, doesn't change reality - W10 is in maintenance mode. Deal with it. False. “Meaningful” is a purely subjective term and does not play into the definition. Keep going. You are entertaining us. 🤣 i wish you two would not argue as i like both of you. besides ... WDDM improvements ( not 'maintenance' ) are objectively 'meaningful' ! Oh I’m done. He doesn’t know wtf he is talking about and I was just seeing how many attacks he would rack up while making it personal. Was enjoyable. Would read his nonsense again. Well, now I’m done. 😂

The majority of computer users aren’t tech savvy enough to give a rats arse about all the cool things notepad++ does. Of course I would take vs code even as a text editor over notepad++ any day of the week.

It's not an android limitation it's an issue with the MPEG 4 writer and it doesn't force a restriction on recording quality as the video is just saved in multiple 4gb chunks.
